  1. Did the dealership check the battery health and any ground connections that may be loose?
  2. If you can wiggle the connector that is near the bulb (if there is one), while the light should be on, that may be a good indicator of a connection problem.
  3. Typically, that is a dealership part.
  4. There could be a problem with the wiring connector.
  5. It could be a loose shock absorber nut or bolt, If your warranty has expired, you might want to take it to a reputable alignment shop that has lots of experience checking and replacing suspension components.
  6. Perhaps you should call your local Lexus dealership Parts Department to verify.
  7. If the distance driven by that owner were low, I'd suspect that short trips that did not result in sufficient battery charge would be the culprit. In the least, a current draw test should be performed to see if there is still excessive draw on the battery. You can also check to verify that the alternator is adequately charging the battery. I wonder why the car was auctioned.
  8. But you love the Covid virus? 🙄
  9. This partially why I gave up riding a motorcycle to focus on convertible sportscars in which I can drive with shorts and a tank top during Summer months.. 😏
  10. Have you deleted the code with an OBD II scanner? That's what the dealership should've done to verify the cause.
  11. I don't like/I hate wearing a suite. My funeral will be a casual wear-only event. Then again, I don't go grocery shopping in an old t-shirt and shorts, as many retired guys do.
  12. Yes, I did see that the OEM size had few options. The 285 size is 0.46-inch larger in diameter, which may mean that your speedometer readings will be a small bit lower that actual speed.
  13. According to tirerack.com, the alternate size for your vehicle is 285/60/18. See: Tire Search Results (tirerack.com)
  14. An auto shop can add a UV dye to your oil and then later check to see from where it is originating, especially if it is not obvious from the top or bottom of the engine..
  15. The 2014 and 2015 had suspension issues, and the 2016 had brake issues. The power top falls under the Body Hardware category. Every year from 2014 - 2017 shows that category as having much better than average reliability.
  16. I would try to stay with OEM parts, if possible. rockauto.com typically has OEM and aftermarket parts.
  17. Essentially, no, you should not waste your money, especially if you have a Japanese auto like Toyota/Lexus or Mazda. See: Should You Get an Extended Warranty for Your Car? - Consumer Reports
  18. Welcome, Ed. Keep in mind that compared to many SUV models and ES Lexus vehicles, the IS models sold in much lower numbers. Consumer Reports does rate them as being either better than average or much better than average in reliability. The 2015-2016s were rated better than average, and the 2017 earned a much better than average rating. There was insufficient data for other (newer) year models.
  19. Hello, Mike. Typically, there would be a warning light on the dash. However, it is always a good idea to have an OBD II reader. The only warnings I have seen, so far, have been a shifter warning that is always due to an older 12V battery that needs to be replaced. If you do buy an OBD II reader, you should get one that is capable of reading Toyota/Lexus codes. Here's one possibility, although it'd be prudent to query the seller about the reader's compatibility with your vehicle. 20. I hope you follow all recommended safety precautions and that you go by the factory service manual. Good luck.
  21. That looks right although a failure at that mileage seems to be rare.
  22. Here's some good advice: Lexus RX400h AC Condenser Replacement Costs (yourmechanic.com) As you will see, if other conditions of the AC system have caused the condenser failure, additional cost may be necessary, so it is important to have the system checked for root causes.
  23. The RX400h uses a timing belt because a belt does last longer in a vehicle that is not running for some or much of the time, depending upon traffic conditions and locations. Also, belts are typically quieter than chains.
