  1. Many years ago, I had some strange drivability issues with my 1989 Mazda MX6 GT. My local mechanic could not figure out what was wrong, so I called a few Mazda dealerships in town to see if any of their mechanics had experience with my 20+ year old car. I did find a dealership that was about 20 miles away, and sure enough the old mechanic spotted the issue after keeping the car, overnight. It was the distributor, so he replaced it and my beloved MX6 was back to normal. So my advice is to call some Lexus dealerships and speak with the service consultants. Describe your issues but don't be surprised if their initial response is "C'mon in and we'll take a look." Your car is not that old so my guess is that one of the mechanics has experienced the same symptoms before. They are more likely to have done so than an independent mechanic who services many brands and models of vehicles.
  2. Thanks for your review, Cindy, and congrats! So even though the seat is in its uppermost position, you still feel as if it is not high enough? That's a bit odd. I could understand if you were 4'10", but not 5'5". Do you have a list of standard settings for all the sensors, etc? Our Lexys came with a very long list of settings. We got to choose which setting we wanted and the dealership offered to change some to our preferences within a certain time frame. If you were not given such a list, you might want to check with the dealership about that. My Mazda has a setting that toggles on or off the beeping noise for blindspot warnings. Lexus may be able to do the same.
  3. How Toyota's solid-state batteries could revolutionize EVs | Digital Trends So no, there may still be a supply problem with solid state battery materials.
  4. I think solid state batteries are a step in the right direction. Supposedly, Toyota is making progress.
  5. There are some alarm kits that allow you to use your phone to disarm your car. The kit works with many existing alarm systems. However most I've seen require an annual fee.
  6. Try disconnecting the battery, waiting a bit, then reconnecting. If that fails, check all the relevant fuses.

  8. Did you try to disconnect the cable under the seat?
  9. It's not just Lexus. Ever since dealerships found that they could make the same or greater profit without having a lot full of vehicles, they are reluctant to go back to the old ways. Leasing as it was is no longer worthwhile to many dealers.
  10. Eccentric bolts are made to allow for alignment adjustments. If your tire was wearing unevenly, then you should have the bolt replaced. If the alignment is good, then you could hold off on having the bolt replaced.
  11. As you can see in this table, some Honda wheels do have the same bolt hole pattern as some Lexus vehicles. Bolt-pattern.com - A comprehensive bolt pattern guide for cars! But really, you should determine which 17" wheels would fit, if any. Head to www.tirerack.com for lots of info.
  12. It could be that the sound seems to be coming from inside the car yet is actually coming from a suspension component like a bushing or loose bolt. I would have a shop put it on a lift to audibly and visually inspect the suspension.
  13. That should not be needed after a battery swap. Did you check the fuses?

  15. It looks like your factory wheels' offset is +50, so the +40s you are interested in may not work. factory widths are 9.0 (front) and 9.5 (rear) Tire upsize would be 225/35 - 20 and 265/35 - 20, but then the wheels would likely be heavier, meaning slower acceleration and longer braking distance. 17. Did you check with the dealership that did the dash replacement?
  18. Are you certain that the recall is not for the sticky/cracked dash?
  19. Do you have the proper wrench for the screw heads? If that slips, then another way to get them off would be to use a Dremel tool with a small cutoff wheel. Use this to make a slot in each screw head. (Wear protective glasses.) Then use a large flat-blade screwdriver to remove each screw. Yes, it's a lot of work but my guess is that some of the screws can be removed with a hex or Torx wrench.
