  1. Yes, the Porter Cable we sell is the best tool you'll ever buy, comes with all three pads that you'll need too! if the wheels are that damaged that they'd require clearcoating the clearcoat would have to be stripped and the re-sprayed. You CAN do this but I dont know if you'd want to...
  2. You should also look at the Infinti FX35 ;)
  3. I would buy a GS without hesitation even after hearing the stories on this board. You can't really take what is said on here as a true representation of whats happening the GX's all over the place. IMHO people on here get sometimes rediculously critical of these cars because they're "Lexus" and should be "perfect". Any car is a machine...
  4. The dealers have a TSB about the dash rattles...
  5. Synthetic oil is much more resistant to sludging. I change the synthetic every 5k.
  6. If you can feel them then you can remove them. Go to www.premiumautocare.com there are two types of claymagic claybars, the blue one and a red heavy duty one. Buy the red one and see where that gets you. And have you driven a NEW ES? Hmmm? ;)
  7. www.iaai.com
  8. I actually really like the way they do their reliability ratings. If you click on the red X it will give you a full discussion of the problems and what causes them and what it will take to fix them.
  9. Have you tried claying the paint and seeing what that does? I would have the entire car repainted. On a car that old they're never going to be able to make the paint match properly, if cost is no object then the best idea is a repaint. Be prepared to spend a couple to a few thousand dollars for a good one. And good repaints equal or exceed the factory quality, just make sure you find a good shop with references.
  10. The wheels are coated in a clearcoat just like the paint, as long as the clearcoat isn't compromized then you should be able to buff them up with an abrasive polish just as you would the paint. An orbital would be helpful.
  11. What that looks like to me is bug residue. If left on the paint for too long bugs will etch into the paint surface. Is it smooth to the touch or can you feel them? You said clay didnt work?
  12. Run a search for "leather" in the detailing forum, lotsa info!
  13. The PC and a cutting pad with some Meguiars #82 Dual Action Cleaner polish.
  14. When it comes to extended warranties always remember- They aren't selling it to you out of the goodness of their heart. If most people ever used the extended warranty then they wouldn't make any money on them and they wouldn't sell them any more ;) Think of it this way, if you don't get the warranty you MIGHT spend $2500 in repairs. If you DO get the warranty you WILL spend $2200 for it. All financial analysts will tell you to skip the warranty.
  15. Also bear in mind that the 98 is the first run of the car and there have been some new model glitches. Also bear in mind that the 90k service is huge, and the 2000 is gonna need it soon.
  16. What year is it? Thats pretty common when it gets cold, the plastic gets more brittle and less flexible. If its under warranty the dealer will track it down and fix it.
  17. I'd definately order one. The one we sell here at www.lexuscarcare.com is a good package because it includes everything you'll need, a cutting pad, a polishing pad, and a finishing pad. Hit it with some Meguiars DACP and the cutting pad, some P21S Gloss Enhancing polish or some Poorboys Polish with Carnuaba with the polishing pad, and top it off with something that hides marring like Meguiars NXT sealant and it'll look great.
  18. You can also order a new master key from www.lexus-parts.com they come pre-cut according to the VIN. Check it out.
  19. Sure, most auto glass shops will do aftermarket sunroof installations. I would get references though to ensure you're goung to get a quality install.
  20. Thats pretty common, the horizontal surfaces take almost all of the UV and heat beating compared to the sides, and Lexus black has no clearcoat. Did you ever wind up buying a PC (Porter Cable orbital buffer) Blake? If not it may help restore the paint to its best condition. Can you post some pics of those white specs?
  21. What I actually use and reccomend are MacNeil Weathertech rubber mats for winter. They each hold up to a quart of water. The problem with those clear mats is that any water will simply roll off. Check em out at www.weathertech.com Lexus also sells similar clear plastic though cut to exactly match the mat shape, the ones at that link look good though.
  22. I don't think Stevie meant to suggest otherwise ;)
  23. Toyota sells splash guards for the Celsior in Japan, PM jdmparts_guru and see what he can do for you. As for removing the asphalt I'd get some good detailers clay. Check out the tutorials at www.lexuscarcare.com
  24. It has nothing to do with ego, this is not a site for brand bashing. Thats my only point. I said that to you the first time in a calm and discussive manner and even explained why I felt that way, you're the one who continued to berate the point. This thread was a week old, it was over, and you brought it BACK to the top by posting like a "Mr. Smarty Pants", not me. This is a free and open place to spend time basically there's only one rule, "Don't be rude". Posting saying "Ooooh Oooh that hurt!" like a 5 year old on a playground is being rude. I think this thread has definately run its course
  25. You need to relax man lol Its the traction control. You said the road was wet, sounds like the traction control just doing its job. That poor car of yours can't catch a break can it?
