  1. Well, it's been about a month now since we sold my wife's beloved 2000 ES Platinum edition. The new owner got a beautiful car. Anyway, found I have a couple things someone here might want: - Factory Cover, Brand New, never used: Bought on EBay, never took it out of the original plastic bag! Doesn't Lexus charge over $100 for these? I think it would fit all from 97-01; we had a older one of these that fit the ES perfectly; - 2000 ES Svc Manual, Vol 1: I really never did much work on the Lex, but I have part one of the two-part manual set. This has detailed specs/capacities and troubleshooting instructions for the various electrical systems. The more traditional mechnical stuff is all in vol 2 So, would someone like to give these a new home? If so, contact me at my email address trwiatt[at]alumni.indiana.edu and let's make a deal!!
  2. Hi all, I have a new driver's side mirror to put on my wife's 2000 ES. Has anyone done this, or have the manual to provide some guidance on the required steps? For example, does the speaker at the front of the door (and on the other side of the mirror) have to come off? If so, are the fasteners down behind the door panel such that it must come off first? Thanks in advance! Tom
  3. Thanks Byohzrd! Now I know what to go shopping for. BTW, ever seen this guy's service? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...&category=46101 My local dealer says he'll trade ECUs for an hour worth of labor time, but this guy told me he'll re-program (and cut) any keys you send in with the ECU for the $99 deal. Plus he makes one for you. I think I can get an HYQ1512V for about $50 on EBay. Remember when you could go to the hardware store and get a duplicate made for 79 cents? Sheesh!
  4. Hi, do you want to buy my factory insert? It's been in my garage for a while and I'd sure like to find it a new home. Esp since we traded our ES for a new one last year.
  5. Have given up, can't find our lost master key. so now only have the valet key. Hoping someone can help with some info on these things. Lots of people sell replacement master keys on EBay, but all say you have to check the FCC ID# on your existing key and get one of the same type. So, what's the FCC ID# on your master key, fellow 2000 ES owners? The second part of the puzzle is the "long or short blade". Apparently these keys came in two different lengths, any idea whether the 2000 ES was long or short? Or maybe someone could just measure theirs and tell me how long it is. I found a guy who will take it from there - on this model if you don't have a master key you can take out the security ECU and send it and your keys to this guy, and he'll reprogram all to match. My idea is to buy an uncut master key (of the correct kind!) and send to him along with my ECU and valet key and then get back a matched set. Quite a PITA, eh? I searched the archives and didn't find any advice on this, but surely I'm not the only person unlucky enough to have lost my master key. So, if you know the FCC ID# and blade length, pls help me out!
  6. Are 92-96 ES models so out of favor that no one wants parts for repair or upgrade? I guess I'm just frustrated, I have two things we bought for my wife's old ES and never used that I can't seem to attract any bidders for on EBay: - A full factory gold kit, all emblems, including the antenna nut, and all four wheel centers - A genuine Lexus replacement antenna mast I hate to keep paying the fee to list these and no one even bids! Is there a better way to sell Lexus parts like this? You'd think someone out there is proud of their ES and would like to keep it up!
  7. Well, I just discovered this forum, what a pleasure to chance across a group of Lexus enthusiasts! My wife's car is a 2000 Platinum ES300 (Millenium silver with black interior), and this is our second ES. Our first was one of the earliest '92s sold here in Austin, TX. We loved that car, it was Dark Amethyst Pearl with Dark Taupe interior and I still think that's the best color combination I've ever seen on a car. However, we wanted a newer one, and so now the '92 is in the hands of a new owner. We are both amazed at how much better the '00 is, the advancements in features, performanace, etc are just wonderful. Not to mention the birds' eye maple interior trim, which is amazing stuff. Anyway, just wanted to say to everyone here on the board and look forward to learning more about you and the cars. Regards, Tom & Reina
