  1. yes Does anyone know if any special tinkering is required or does the rear muffler from a Land Cruiser go right on where you remove the Lexus muffler? Thanks!
  2. AC was working fine, they suddenly its not cold any longer. Time to recharge with Freon? Any advice on how to do that on a 2001 LS430? I think i see the high side port in front of the radiator but not sure where the low side is. thanks.
  3. Yes, tried Power button & the rest of the physical buttons on the stereo & the voice on the GPS does work. Also tried re-booting system by disconnecting battery for 20 min or so but no luck. Engine had to be replaces because of a failed bearing on a non-oem waterpump after 40k miles...expensive lesson
  4. Had a new engine put into our 01 LS430. Everything seems to be working great except the stereo...the gps works, but when i switch to audio it just says audio off. Lexus says that there isn't an anti-theft system on that radio, but it seems as if there must be. Any ideas? thanks :D
  5. Ditto. Easiest, cheapest most reliable fix. Good luck finding a 3UZFE FOR $2k! Made one phone call, found one in Wisconsin for $2200 shipped. Sure there are plenty going for double that, you do actually have to research it a little, they don't fall out of the sky at that price. Even at $3500 it's cheaper than a top end rebuild. any chance you could tell me that salvage yard in Wisconsin? I have my shop looking for one around Boston. thanks.
  6. Thanks for the replies. Quick Update. I found the original receipt & it was actually a bit longer the timing belt job was actually done in February 2007 so its been longer than a year & about 40,000 miles since it was done. The job was done a reputable local mechanic that has done a lot of work our 2 Lexus'. They showed me the parts & I believe they were replaced when they did the job. They called the parts shop where they purchased the water pump & are trying to get the manufacturer of the pump to pay for the work that needs to be done. I know its a long shot but its worth a try. My wife really loves the car so this is a tough decision. If we have the work done I will certainly make sure we have an OEM water pump & timing belt.
  7. Had Timing Belt & Water pump replaced just over a year ago. The other day the bearing on the waterpump failed taking out the timing belt. Shop says that the timing is of & they have to take the head off to see what the damage is...could be $3 - $4k to fix. Is it worth fixing? I am amazed that the water pump failed & it looks like the new water pump was only under warranty for 12 months for which we are over by a few weeks. How can a water pump last for 90,000 miles but only have a warranty of 12 months? any advice is appreciated. thanks.
