  1. I don't think you should <_< You can get a good set of (4) drilled and slotted rotors for around $130 and up. B)
  2. Thanks! So, you are sure that our starter DOES NOT have solenoid contacts inside??? ← I'm sorry, Yes, it does. The way it looked in the service manual it looked as if it didn't. In the diagram flow chart it showed the starter relay and then going straight to the starter. However, after looking at it again it shows a starter connector. I would still doublecheck the starter relay, then if that does nothing remove the starter and have it tested. Once the starter is removed you can test the soleniod yourself by hooking power to the starter terminal and grounding the case of the starter. It should kick the starter gear outwards. WATCH YOUR FINGERS, KEEP THEM AWAY FROM THE STARTER GEAR. <_<
  3. I agree that the best oil filter is the OEM , however many people don't buy OEM they just buy whatevers the cheapest or whatever is the most expensive or whatever the lube place down the street installs and that's not always the best filter. This final study kind of puts them all into perspective oil filter study B)
  4. I haven't had any problems with my starter yet. I looked at the service manual and it shows that the negative wire should be disconnected and then 2 fuel lines have to be unbolted from the body. Next disconnect the starter wires and connector.. remove 2 bolts holding starter in. I would then take the starter to a rebuild shop to check for correct operation. You could disassemble it and check the brushes and clean the armature, if you feel comfortable. Otherwise take it to a repair shop for testing or rebuilding. I would try the starter relay in the engine fuse block first, or verify power is reaching the starter and starter connector with a multimeter before yanking out the starter. B)
  5. The best price i've found on any Lexus parts has been from B) hoy fox
  6. Those are great, however sometimes costly and the dealership is not always open. Believe it or not the walmart supertech filters are some of the best out there for the money charged, B) SUPERTECH
  7. First of all! Try replacing the starter relay in the fuse box, before yanking out the starter If that doesn't fix it , then remove the starter and clean the armature and replace brushes as needed. There are NO STARTER SOLENOID CONTACTS AS SOMEONE ELSE POSTED only starter relay and armature and brushes.
  8. Kind of long, however, well worth it B) oil filter pressure drop

  10. SEARCH!!! This is a very common question. Being that your new it's common to want to ask a lot of questions, however, alot of the questions someone has asked before you. Try searching first and then if you don't find the answers you need, then ask! You'll find by searching you'll learn alot more as you go through different topics to find your answer. B)
  11. Whistling sound could be vacuum leak, with the mileage you have you probably have some loose or brittle vacuum hoses. Check all your vacuum hoses for loose fitting, over time they harden and swell. If you haven't done so already it 's time for a tranny flush and filter replace or cleaning. There's lots of things you can do yourself. You haven't told us what's been done to the car recently or how long you've had it'. At the mileage you have alot needs to be done to car if it hasn't already been done. B)

  18. It's soooo easy, you don't need DIY pics. The hardest part is getting the old ones out, sometimes they get frozen in there. There are 3 you need to replace. Fan smell could also be the bearings or something else burning up in the fan motor
