  1. I should have tried a search, but I've only used this site few times and am not all that good with computers. I aplogize. I do appreciate the coil suggestion and will look at the other issues you indicated as possibles. Many thanks.
  2. I am experiencing hard missing at highway speeds under acceleration. This is not occurring at city driving speeds at all. The plugs, plug wires, fuel injectors and fuel filter have all been replaced as they needed to be anyway and seemed the logical place to start on this problem. For the first time I experienced a backfire when starting the engine cold the other morning. Don't know if this is related either, but it hasn't occurred before or since. I would very much appreciate suggestions about this from the forum members. Thank you
  3. I recently experienced a complete muting of the Nakamichi in my 1992 Ls400 (99.5% restored to new condition as of today). The forums suggested a reset of the ECU, but that didn't work. After much fussing around, I removed the unit from the dash to check out the wiring. By accidentilly pulling the blue plug for the old on board cell phone from the lower back of the unit...the sound returned good as new. While this may be very elementary for most of the people on the forum, it may be helpful to others and save a huge amount of fooling around time. The reason was apparently that the phone was designed to "take over" the speakers when in use and for some reason that was the case in this instance. By unplugging the blue plug, the phone was disabled and the sound came back. Those phones were analog anyway and no longer are usable. So, for those of you who cherish your Nak try this before you replace your stereo unit when you experience a sound outage in your unit.
  4. Well, what do you know? It's exactly what I need. Thank you very much. I was having dreams of water just ruining everything inside the door eventually. I'm at about 8,000 ft. and you can literally watch the UV radiation dissolve rubber parts like this.
  5. I'm trying to locate some rubber window sweeps for a 1992 Lexus Ls400. By this I mean the narrow rubber "squeege" like gasket that lays against the bottom of the outside passenger door windows and seals against water. Dealer would only quote me for the entire window trim assembly. And at $350.00 to buy this per window. There has got to be a source, or substitute, for these sweeps that don't cost that much. New is prefered, but used, in good condition, is OK as well. Can anyone help me in this search? My '92 is in for a complete, top of the line paint job at a place that restores classics...so now is the time to fix this problem. Love this car. Many thanks to the knowlegable membership of this forum.
  6. Hard to believe, but I am coming up empty for a place to find weather seals for a 1992 Ls400 on the forum. If I have repeated this topic I apologize, but, please tell me where to find it. The car is perfected mechanically...so, I want to keep this great ride. I want to have all the weather seals replaced on the doors, trunk, windshield, and rear glass while the car is apart for painting. I now realize what a good paint job costs, but I want to keep this fine car looking good as well. After all, it can now be considered a modern classic. Any help, or resources, I can get on this topic would be appreciated. Many thanks....
  7. What very helpful advice from each of you. About four things I had not even begun to consider. Thank you all. Best regards, and enjoy your vehicles too.
  8. I compeletly forgot my manners. Thank you for responding. Are there any other opinions about what top quality parts like these may be?
  9. I'm noticing a wide range of price differences for water pumps and timing belts for 1992 LS400's, even from the same suppliers. It's time for me to replace these, so I need the benefit of experienced advice. Nothing too good for this car, but who wants to waste money either? Are there genuine quality differences between water pumps and timing belts that relate to performance and longevity?
  10. What are your recommendations for easy and effective performance modifications for the 1990 -94 LS400? Inexpensive would be nice.
  11. I've come up empty with the usual parts places recommended by this forum, and need some help. I'm looking for an LCD replacement mirror for a 1992 Ls400. Harder to find than I thought! Can someone point me in the right directiion? Appreciate the help. Thank you.
  12. I'm tapped out on finding on of these replacemeent mirrors for a 1992 Ls400. Can someone point me in the right direction? I've exhausted the usual parts sites reccommended on this forum. Am I looking in the wrong places? Thanks for any help.
  13. Cannot thank you enough! I appreciate your help.
  14. I am truly coming up empty or I wouldn't post so trivial a question. I need a glove box door, or a latching mechanism that goes into it for a 1992 LS400/tan. Don't need a key or antthing. Just one that will latch when I close it. Can a kind soul on tthis forum point me in the right direction?
