  1. I changed from a '93 LS400 to a 2004 LS430 last summer due to difficulties getting the parts I needed. The LS430 is a much better car in every way. The technology is just amazing compared to my LS400. Keyless entry is by far my favorite. Just walk up to the car with your keys in your pocket and the doors will unlock automatically. Just take a look at wikipedia to see what they have added. The LS430 is more powerful but the gas consumption is similar of possibly even slightly better. Having said that, I still think the older models look better. EDIT: Typo, LS400 -> LS430
  2. I've owned a 2004 LS430 since last summer. 123,000 miles. No issues so far except the front window rubber strips don't always bend back properly when closing the windows. Silicone lubricant solves this issue. 25 mpg average. I've had no issues with my Mark Levinson stereo. Acceleration is instant. It's my first car with heated and cooled seats. Neither heating nor cooling seems very effective. I don't know if it's due to the car's age or what. Can't say it bothers me much. I don't know if it's just me, but my previous car, a 1993 LS400, seemed to be better insulated against road noise.
  3. I am afraid it's too late. The car is at a breaker and my new 2004 LS430 arrives tomorrow.
  4. Looks like I may have to scrap my lovely car, all because a $25 part that is no longer available. Does anyone need any parts for this model? Is air suspension still an issue on newer models? I'm considering a 1998 LS400, a 2003 LS430 or possibly a 2005 LS430. I much prefer the look of the older models but like the improvements in the newer ones.
  5. My LS400 has an issue with the rear air suspension so I need a two way tube, part number 90412-12031, which is out of production and doesn't seem to be for sale anywhere. Does anyone have any ideas or contacts? I also need a height control tube, part number 48985-50010, but this seems to be available from lexuspartsnow.com.
  6. Thanks for your replies. What kind of shops should I be looking for?
  7. I'm looking for the following part for my '93 LS400, which unfortunately has been discontinued: Hose, cooler refrigerant suction, no. 1, part number 88712-50060 Any help in tracking it down would be greatly appreciated. Where do you guys get parts for your old cars?
  8. I've just got my '93 LS400 back from the garage with a new alternator and timing belt. Drives great but remote locking/unlocking doesn't work anymore. As I only replaced the battery in the key about 7 months ago I was wondering 1. How long does the battery usually last, and 2. Is there any other reason, except for a dead key battery, that remote locking/unlocking won't work? I had to reset the seat memory settings, but the radio settings were OK.
  9. :o A pity about your car, but at least you survived and are recovering.
  10. Drove a bit (2 x 1 hour) last weekend, but didn't lose any coolant. Started the car again today and left the engine running. 1. There is a loud metallic noise from the belt (fan belt?) in front og the Power Steering Fluid container. I think it gets quieter after a while, at least I don't notice it much when driving. 2. There was still liquid dropping off a reel behind the Traction Control System. See pictures. This is the reel as seen from the right side of the car. Sorry about the picture quality. Small droplets can be seen hanging on the reel. What is this? 3. When I bought the car I was informed it didn't have air suspension, but this picture seems to indicate otherwise, or? The writing is "Electronic modulated air suspension".
  11. So I decided to fill the coolant reservoir up to the minimum mark and start the engine to see where my coolant was disappearing to. A little while later I noticed a pool of liquid under the car, and it seemed like engine coolant. It's definately not oil. Peering down behind the radiator, I could see some kind of "floor" underneath the engine. There was more liquid there, so it seems I have a leak somewhere down there, but maybe not at the top of the coolant reservoir, as I originally thought. I also noticed, and this is where I need your expertise folks, behind the Traction Control System there's a small something, and this was also leaking small drops of clear liquid every 4-5 seconds. Could this be engine coolant as well, or is it something else? It's just outside the windshield.
