  3. I just replaced my converters on my 97 LS400... then I saw this: "I have found out that the P0420 and P0430 codes typically have to do with a catalytic converter gasket leak. I had the P0430 code and made the mistake of taking it to the dealer. Of course, I was told to replace them both for $2,600 plus tax. The dealer charged close to $100 plus tax as a diagnosis fee. I went to Midas and God bless the good folk out there who determined the code to be a gasket leak. The gasket was replaced for under $100 plus tax.I hope this helps anyone who gets these codes." SO....... I have two OEM converters ANYONE can have for free, just pay the $20 bucks mail fees. I dont need them.. Oh, you can see all the way thru them, just like the new ones I put on. my direct email is billydpowell@verizon.net OR my phone # is 972 395 0678 good luck
  4. This is my 99 LS.. I can hit the start key 3-4-5 times and it will start. BUT there is a weak connection somewhere and I need to find it. IF you have had any experience with this problem, please advise.. I have changed the battery, cleaned all connections on/around the battery, but that is all. because in my past history I would go to the starter and check the connection there.... but we all know it is burried, so... have you had any experience with this problem...... before I take it apart??? thanks in advance
  5. try this" http://www.senecac.on.ca/library/resources/ebsco_arrc.html under wiring diagrams, AC - shows fan motor wiring OR identify your car and go to trouble shooting-(keep looking) for heater
  6. No reason to be snippy Billy. This forum is a source of information for many, and I believe its unsafe to run S rated tires on the vehicle...so does Lexus...so does Michelin...so does TireRack. In some european countried its illegal to mount tires of a lower speed rating than what came from the factory. If you choose to ignore those viewpoints that is your choice, but I'm not going to sit here and let you reccomend a tire to our members that I, the vehicle manufacturer, the tire manufacturer, the largest tire retailers in the world, and the governments of several european countries feel are unsafe without saying something about it. Lots of great tires out there, and for the same money as what those tires cost someone can buy a set of tires that are appropriate for the vehicle. I DO understand your position.. and appreciate it. just adding a little color.
  7. GREAT, you run V or H and I will run S. Oh, you wont have to watch out for me, I'm not returning to MD, I haven't been back since the 50's when I came out of Aberdeen Proving Grounds, heading for Korea. Cheers.
  8. thank you, spoken like a real professional... I copied this and put it in my file.. At 76, I know my reflexes are limited and try noy to exceed them, but I do enjoy my LS's

  10. I'm with you on this one Billy. The S speed rating approves the tire for 10 minutes at 112 mph, and as you don't drive that fast, it's perfectly safe. Load ratings are also specified on tires, numerically, and that's an entirely different rating UNRELATED to speed ratings. You're perfectly safe with the Symmetry, assuming that it's load rating is also sufficient for the car. You can look that up online easily, and more than likely it meets the requirements of the LS weight. I recall that this board has been around this topic, if one can call it that, many times. The facts are out there. Thanks SRK, I feel better now. I didnt want to think I have been running on the ragged edge all this time...
  11. just how fast do you drive?? I run 70-80 on the highway, and have run the Symmetry for over 20 years without a single instance.
  12. I run Michelin Symmetry on my 97 & 99 LS's, have used them for years on various cars and get 60 to 70k... but the main thing is QUIET & smooth..

  19. Mine came on when my wife scraped the curb (it had nothing to do with it) in our 99 LS. autozone said codes 1345 & 1354, I checked gas cap, replaced (swapped) the battery out of my 97LS (it is brand new) cleaned all the cables, but it still came on. Went to Davenports they said 1349... failed oil control valve, $360. SO, I took it out, it was (grotty) I cleaned it out and it seemed to be working ok. Put it back in and it is running fine and so far it has not come back on (one day)
