  1. 93 LS400 in need of a top end rebuild. I see Lexus has discontinued the engine valve grind kit. Are there any sources left for these OEM parts? If not, what’s the next best option in terms of brand name and source?
  2. 1994 LS400. I'm trying to do an iPad mini install, but I do not want to relocate my climate control out of the center stack. I'd rather relocate the head unit to the glove compartment, and try to keep the climate control in the center stack. I'd like to move the climate control unit to the ashtray area (I will remove the entire ashtray modular piece). Just wondering if anyone has found a solution to this (trimming the climate control unit, using a different, smaller climate control unit that is compatible) to move the climate control unit to this location.
  3. Just an update in case anyone else reads this thread. Turns out the mooing sound was from my alternator, which was slowly going out (typical PS leak onto alternator). Replaced alternator and moo is gone.
  4. I was cruising along around 15mph in my '94 LS400 when I decided to "see what she could do" and floored it. The engine revved up and, to my horror, right when I expected the transmission to shift, the engine hit close to redline and it sounded like a rev-limiter kicked in and I felt a loss in power until I let off the accelerator. All maintenance is up to date on engine and trans, with the exception of an EGR CEL I will be fixing shortly. Any ideas here? This cannot be normal behavior, can it?
  5. ...thread resurrection for my '94 LS with the same problem. Just to see if anyone figured this out. Here's my experience with exactly the same sound: 1. Thought it was PS pump. Replaced hoses (all high/low pressure) and cleaned solenoid filters, flushed system. No change. 2. Tranny pan dropped, filter replaced, fluid exchanged. No change. 3. Timing belt / water pump service was recently done, and idler pulleys and serpentine pulley were replaced. No change. 4. A separate noise is the AC compressor. The moo'ing noise is not the same, as it is more noticeable and idle, and even when the AC is turned off. 5. Now someone said this could be a low TRAC nitrogen cylinder. I don't think this is the TRAC nitrogen cylinder because I am not getting a TRAC warning light. Can someone clarify if it were a low nitrogen cylinder, if I would expect to see the TRAC light? 6. At this point I'm thinking either fan pulley or alternator, leaning more toward fan pulley as noise doesn't seem to change with electrical load. Any suggestions for further steps to diagnose? Has anyone else figured this out on their cars? To the OP who described this sound as a mooing at idle, that's EXACTLY how mine sounds.
  6. sha4000- because, as I indicated in my last post, I've already had my question answered to my satisfaction (by 1990LS400, and also others on the other forum). Thanks for your concern.
  7. Hi Paul, That sounds great! I think you forgot to post the dealer information. Would appreciate it if you would. Thanks! Sorry about that.... Sewwellparts.com Sewell Lexus Dalla, TX
  8. 1990LS400- why I have no idea what you are referring to re: right/left :) J/k I just edited the posts to correct. And the information in your post is just what I needed. Thank you!
  9. 1990LS400- the part I want to remove (what I thought was the cell mount but who knows) is the part on the lower right of the picture I posted. There is no cellphone, just a mount- the square thing with something sticking out of it attached on the lower left of the picture. Maybe this is not a factory part? Was this type of mount even offered factory?
  10. Hi All, '94 LS question again. Mine came with what I believe to be a factory cellphone mount attached to the factory stereo. I've tried sliding and twisting this thing to get it off with no luck. Anybody have any ideas how this was attached and how to remove it? See attached picture for reference- sorry it's not more complete- it's the only one I have right now without going out to take a picture of it. The cell mount is at the lower right of the picture.
  11. Hi All, I have a '94 LS and I'm trying to figure out the color of my interior so I can get new floormats. I'm posting a picture of the interior here. Some questions: 1. What color is the interior carpeting here? I'm thinking it's Taupe but not sure if it's Tan? 2. Are these the proper color of floormats that came with this interior color? I've read they could be to emphasize the two-tone color combo? 3. Are factory floormats available that match the interior carpet color? If so, what color should Ibe looking for? Thanks in advance!
  12. Hi All, I'm looking for a set of 4 Lexus factory 9-spoke wheels for a '93-94 LS400. These should be regular (not chrome) and in good condition. Please reply in this thread if you have these or have a lead on a set. I do have a set of these rims in chrome for exchange, if needed. Thanks, V
  13. Hi All, New to the forum, though I have owned a '97 LX450 for 12 years now. Next week, I will be the proud owner of a 1993 Lexus LS400. I always loved the first-gen cars, and this one is a cream-puff. White/gray two-tone exterior, black interior, 81k mi, timing belt already done, well maintained according to Lexus maintenance history. And yes, already has replaced power steering pump, steering rack, alternator, valve cover gaskets, antenna, gauge cluster lighting, and climate control gauges and power seats work (I've done my reading). I do have a question. The only negative about this car for me is that it comes with the chrome version of the factory 9-spoke wheels. I prefer the factory silver (non-chrome) version. I'd be interested to hear forum opinions on the best way for me to do an exchange on these (chrome for non-chrome of the same type). Thanks for any help you can provide!
