O2 Sensor Light Comes On Again After Being Replaced
smooth1 replied to jzflsrt's topic in 01 - 06 Lexus IS300
I replaced two brand new DENSO o2 sensors that I bought on ebay. they were universal in wich it can only be used before the CAT (Bank 1 sensor 1 and Bank 2 sensor 1). I changed the same wire color as explained on the box. four wire :black, black heater, and white and the other blue. I make sure they were the right color and came with the hardware that was easy to install. I dont know why i got the same codes but a month after p133 and p153. Are you sure your wire connections haven't come loose? Even if you have to pull the connectors and just reconnect them and make sure. Then erase the codes and see if they come back. If they do come back again, then I would take the car in to if the sensors are bad. Maybe you got a defective sensor or sensors. I don't know how much you saved by getting them on Ebay, but if you go to Denso direct you can get them for 40(ish) bucks each. Here's the link:Denso Website -
You need to update the nav to the 2008 or newer edition. I beleive it's the 5.1 or newer edition. That gets rid of the "ok" agreement thing.

You can replace the fluid, but I wouldn't advise doing a tranny flush. Just drain and refill. Make sure you use Toyota OEM trans fluid. As for your rear clunking sound, what did you replace the OEM struts with? Some aftermarket struts can make that noise, and you may want to inspect the sway bar endlinks and the control arms. If you drove with that bad strut for awhile you may have damaged, or worn out some other parts that are now contributing to that sound.

How To Install Lowering Springs
smooth1 replied to 2006gs430newbie's topic in 06 - 12 Lexus GS300 / GS350 / GS460
How to install coilovers Click on that. it's for coilovers, but the rears would be the same process for you. And it isn't any different for a GS. Maybe some bolt sizes and locations, but that's it. -
Blake, you already know what I think, but seeing it again, and after you did the headlight restore, I would add, that to me, it looks brand spankin frickin new!! Amazing! I think your car should be the poster child for Lexus!

Wow, very nice! great detailing job. I think I like the white one better. Maybe it's the rims that add a bit more to the looks. Are they both equipped the same?

Happy birthday dc. What's on the menu for tonight?

Well, unfortunately you accepted the deal. I would have walked away. It's my money. If you want it, yhou have to give me what I want for it. By becoming complacent and accepting your second class citizen status, you justified thier position. In the US, alot of things are the way they are because we won't have it any other way. It's what we want wether it's right or not. If enouph buyers don't buy the HS in Canada because of the options not available, I promise it won't be very long before the dealers are crying to Lexus and the Canadian powers that be. Make it cost them, not you. It sounds to me like you just paid double for a "Lexus" Prius. I just bought a new car also. (Not a Lexus this time.) I looked at all the makes and models I liked and sat back and waited for them to come to me. As they always do, making offers that seem to keep getting better and better until they give in and give up on me. Then I walk in with the check. LOL!! It appears Canada has a couple things backwards. It's not your previlage to purchase from them. And they sure seem to treat you as such. Your second mistake was connecting to a product emotionally thru the media machine. Instead of letting it develop thru your hands on interface. If you never heard of the HS 250 before you test drove it, would you have still purchased it for the price you did? I think you may have had alot of "what it could be" residue your sights and didn't quite look at what it is.

Ok, so here it is: The winner is a 2009 Mercedes Benz ML 350 4matic. It came with: 40 gig / hardrive Nav. and the new central command system. (Yes you have full nav and menu access while driving.) Harmon Kardon premium stereo w/ Ipod interface and rear entertainment system Bluetooth. 3 zone a/c auto rain sensing/speed sensing windshield wipers. (That is really cool!) power liftgate. HID headlamps. Leather int. upgrade power seats sun/moon roof cruise/ hillclimb/descent control 4 matic AWD drive system paddle shift control 286 HP V6 7 speed (very smooth shifting) auto Rear ac voltage household outlet. ( It's kinda strange to see a regular outlet in your vehicle for some reason.)lol! Running boards I wound up getting a pretty good deal on this one. The original price was $57000.00 And then we added a few dealer installed accessories and I got the truck for $47K out the door. I put down 30K and I have a $306.00 monthly payment on it. Insurance on this thing was great also! Much lower then I expected. 4 year/ 50K mile warranty. We both like it and I think it will serve it's purpose. Hopefully the maintenance and reliability will be up to par. For the history research I've done, everyone loves it and has very few complaints. Consumer guide even gives it a thumbs up. So we'll see right?

2010 Lexus Ls Photos Leaked
smooth1 replied to jainla's topic in 07 - 16 Lexus LS460 / LS460L / LS600h
I think I'm going to reserve my opinion about the new LS until I actually have one in front of me that I can sit in and look at from a bunch of different angles. I absolutely love the current LS' lines and overall shape. So the new one is going to have to be very convincing. -
Man, the 40 is here. Seems like just yesterday when I was going to the computer geeks in college and having them make a fake ID for me to get into the nightclubs. I thought it was impossible for me to ever be 40. And now here I am. I don't feel 40 though. LOL!!

:) Thanks guys.

Ok, so any last guesses before I post which one we got?

Lowering And Spacers On The Gs460
smooth1 replied to designo's topic in 06 - 12 Lexus GS300 / GS350 / GS460
Yeah, that's what happens when you go that wide. I never recommend going over 20mm. 10-15mm is the sweet spot. If you like the look of the 25mm spacers, your just going to have to get new rims with less offset if you want to be able to keep the car in daily driver status. I'm pretty sure your going to have this vibration problem with any spacers this length and more. -
I think I would call the Lexus dealership you think you would like to take the car to for regular services and ask them about an extended warrentee and what they recomend. that way you don't have any "approval" issues and coverage problems as they work with their warrentee companies on a regular basis. Let me give you an example of how some of these "extended warrentees" can screw you. Let's say you take the car in and they "hear" a problem in the motor. First, the warrentee may not cover "exploratory" diagnostics. So you will have to pay out of pocket to find out what the problem is. Then let's say that they find the problem and it is a covered part, like a flywheel. Well, Lexus may charge 1800 bucks for the flywheel, but the warrentee payout for that part might be only 1200. So, you'll have to pay the difference. Also, most policies only cover up to about 60 bucks an hour for labor. Lexus charges considerably more than that. Again, you'll have to pay the difference. Call Lexus and ask to speak with a service tech and I'm sure they will tell you about some horror stories in using the wrong extended warrentee company. And then there is the "interpretation" clause of what is exactly covered and not covered. I've seen alot of policy holders screaming on the phone to there warrentee company "What do you mean that's not covered!"

Are you allowed to say if your going back to Iraq or one of the new "interest" areas like Pakistan or Afganastan? I only ask because I sponsor a care package effort that lets our troops over there know we're doing what we can also. If you let me know later about what area I will try and make sure some of our packages go there also. Maybe PM me after it's ok to divulge the info in case it's still not a good idea to post it on the boards.

Why did you say that all of GM has a lot of work ahead of them when your number 5 is a GM? I had to put the Saturn statement on there because it is also a GM that is based on the same platform as the Chevy Traverse, GMC Acadia, and Buick Enclave. When I said GM, I really meant Chevy, GMC, and Buick. Cadillac has been thier only hope since the new CTS introduction. That car put them back into the "younger" crowd as an option again in my opinion, while really pushing up the level of quality also. And now that they are expanding on that platform I think they have even a better chance at growing market share. So, somehow, somewhere, I really and truly hope that Cadillac will upscale GM and they won't fall victim to GM bringing down Cadillac. Saturn, while owned by GM and yes, they share some platforms and parts, have really been doing alot of thier own things. When they started to implent the Opel design schemes into he Saturn line up a couple years ago, I actually thought Saturn had a good fighting chance. I liked the look of the Outlook, and was considering taking a second closer look at it, but then the closing announcement killed that as even an option. When it comes to GM, and all the companies under it's umbrella, I really did want to give them every chance to win me back or to change my view point of them. So maybe I even tilted the scale a bit in thier favor, but the truth is the truth. They just aren't there. They have this new commercial in which the new CEO comes out and says if it is car verses car, GM wins. I didn't look at the new Malibu, or the other little cars they are coming out with, but in the mid-size, full size SUV/wagon/crossovers that I compared, it's simply not so.

Atleast you didn't continue backing out anyway! Like my Aunt Ruthie! <_< A couple years ago on the right side of the garage an old bicycle had fallen over with the car in the garage. She didn't see it when she got in and started to back out of the garage. She said she kept hearing a grinding, scraping sound, but because she couldn't see anything she kept backing out. LOL! that bike mangled the entire side of the car as it got wedged between the garage door opening and the pulling force of the car backing out. Explain that one to the insurance guys!

Oh please post pics of it after you do. I think everyone would like to see what that looks like.
-
Wow, those are some pretty harsh threats! Hmmm, but don't you guys wanna see the pics? Here, I'll give this up. My top 5 list ended up being and this is in order: 1) Mercedes Benz ML350 4matic 2) Lexus GX 470 3) Subaru Outback Limited 4) Volvo C70 5) Cadillac SRX The ones that didn't make the top 5 were: Toyota Vienna (The minivan thing, we just couldn't bring ourselves to it.) BMW X5 ( Man the options cost just too dang much money!) Audi Q5 and 7, ( so long as theres a warrentee, their great. But I was scared...lol!) Saturn Outlook ( I was willing to take a real close look at one, but then they announced that Saturn will be closed down. I know parts will still be out there, but the depreciation is going to kill this consideration.) Toyota Highlander ( I really liked this option. It was really tied for the fifth spot, but the Cadillac offered more luxury feel.) GM ( I'm sorry, but they have alot of work ahead of them first.) Ford Flex ( The Flex was cool, but only on the inside. The whole cube square look thing was just a bit to much. I like the looks of the Edge, but it was to small. And Ford in my opinion has excellent quality. The fuel mileage still needs to be better to really make them more competitive though.) Acura MDX ( Fugly, sorry, but their just tooooo fugly. It's my opinion, everyone has thier own. I think it's terrible.) Volkswagon Tourag ( Alot of money for a couple cool features. To me, Volkswagen makes the R32, and that's it.) Lexus RX 350 and 450H ( This is really only slightly larger than our sedans now. And I have this small nounce of an issue with the RX ride. Because it sits up higher, and the wheel base appears to be so tucked in underneath it coupled with the soft suspension becomes unnerving right at the point of initial turn in. Like it could flip over on ya. I know it won't. And you probably get used to it after a while, but for me it was really unsettling.) And the interior isn't as quiet to me as you would think it should be. And the long dash is sort of an oddity as well.) Jeep Grand Cherokee ( It's ok. the interior is to box and upright looking. but I think the better years for Jeep are coming, and this just isn't one of them yet. Another company I think that just needs more time to retool their "new" direction.)

Starting Because Brake Peddle Can't Depress
smooth1 replied to J Jones's topic in 07 - 13 Lexus IS250 / IS350 / IS-F
It did not prevent the original poster from starting the vehicle either. That's what makes me believe it was a result of simply depressing the brake after the engine was turned off. We may never know since the J Jones has since gone silent... He said he couldn't start the car when the pedal was stiff. Mine did start with stiff pedal. I hope nothing has happened to him. Maybe the op is stuck in the car because they couldn't pull the door lever open?
