  1. Rusty is def. an icon, i love his car too, and they way he talks "this ole hot rod" this and that, its funny, you can tell he loves those cars man. but man he sure does whine alot........ <_<
  2. blake that is def. a cool looking ipod, i hate U2 though, vevro, thanks for taking the pics, i appreciate it, just an idea for ya: you ought to take a couple of hours on some weekend and mount it, and hide the wires, you could velcro the fm modulator to the ashray, and hide the wires up under the side of the console, or even through the back of the ashtray and headunit then down to the carpet then get one of those "clampy" phone holders from radio shack and mount it on the side of the drivers side console to hold your ipod, that would look really clean, thats probably what i'm gonna do. i've done a little reasearch on those mini ipods and they are running about 250 or so, but you can get the regular one for 299 from what i get. any way thanks for sharing
  3. i personally can't really give you direct instructions on how to fix this, as i've never really even looked up there, but i'm sure you can just take it apart and adjust the gaps of the clamps that hold the metal in place, maybe by using a shim if there is a plastic part that is broken, you will need to either repace it, or do what i would do and break out the ole JB weld in short just get up there and take it apart and see what is loose, then go from there. if you get it taken apart, and can't find a way to fix it, pm me, and i'll take a look at mine, and tell you how you get get her fixed ;) good luck
  4. yeah, the ball joint think isn't anything major, i mean its just regular maintence on these cars over time....any car for that matter. but the rack & pinion thing, if its doing that, then you REALLY need to get that taken care of man, that is very dangerous, thats not something you can put off, like the ball joint deal
  5. cool deal thanks for the feedback guys... i'll have to say i really want to stay away from the casset deal, its just ugly and outdated IMO......... i would like to hard wire it, but i'm just not sure if it would work with my old stock radio i really like that modulator you have vevro, its sharp looking.......where did you get it......actually what kind of i-pod do you have and how much was it, if you don't mind me asking i will throw down the 300 bucks for the new apple, but if i can get a pretty good ipod for cheaper, i'm game any suggestions..........and or what brands/models should i be searching for as you can see i'm pretty new to this ipod thing, but my brother just got a new apple ipod and i fell i love with it, now i want one, and dammmit i'm gonna get one just need to do do my usual "in-depth" research i always do b/f buying anything, especially somehting i pretty much know nothing about.
  6. i'll add some online Lexus part shops new and used for reference: NEW http://www.irontoad.com/l_home.htm http://www.lexpartsonline.com/ http://lexuspartsmall.com/ http://www.lexus-parts.com/ USED AND/OR SALVAGED PART STORES http://www.autonetwork.org/ http://www.taprecycling.net/
  7. just checking to see if any of you guys have an Apple ipod or any type of I-pod on your LS? i know all the theories; this and that, but do any of you acutally have one installed if so do you have it hard wired? what is the process and difficulty of installation also what extra equipment is needed. or are you running an FM modulator. hows the sound? i am thinking about buying one just for the purpose of putting it in my car, and i would like some feedback issue from any of you guys that HAVE one.
  8. cool deal........its gonna be fun i'm a Michael Waltrip fan, but i like Jr. too.
  9. yes i agree with freak. do all of it, i mean you might as well, get a fresh start on everything, it will make the car last a lot longer, and drive much smoother and more efficient (sp) if these cars are properly maintaned the will run for a VERY long time the good news is besides the TB and WP.........if you have any mechanical skills whatsover those other maintenence items are a breez to DIY, it will save you a lot of money.
  10. as blake mentioned, your ball joints are shot.
  11. for sure........ yeah i heard it was amazing, i honestly can't wait yeah i've been wanting to do that richard petty thing for a couple of years now, but man its just hard for me to find time to do anyting like that, i'm so busy at the office..and when i do get to leave its usually a vacation to vegas or the beach somewhere. somewhere my G/F and or family like to go i mean the race isn't until the end of april and i'm already having to reschedule meetings and appointments with me clients in dadgum January.........i just get so overwhealmed sometimes, but hey thats why i'm going to the races, get hammy and watch all hell break loose under the hoods of those cars.
  12. you'll have plenty of time to make 60K your only 22, give her time...... it doesn't matter how much money you make, its the person you are in life, and how you treat others that matters.... just because we drive lexus cars doesn't make us better than anyone, it just means we might be a little smarter they are great cars, with a lot of class. you don't have to make 200k a year to drive a lexus, there are great used ones out there that are just as good as new ones at half the cost. so they can be very affordable if you know how to go about it. anyway this is off topic i know, sorry.......but i enjoyed the little story, thanks for sharing. thats a great example of true lexus enthusiast :)
  13. you have to remember its a cleaner and conditioner not a rejuvenator (sp) anyway, they have 2 products for leather, the "shiny" look you are getting is from the cleaner, you need to follow that up with a liberal amount of conditioner applied in numerious applications to really get the full effect of the product. it really works great from my experiences with it, i use it all the time and it won't leave the leather hard or shiny at all........soft and supple is what i get
  14. boy thats a really sharp looking car
  15. LOL, that hilarious.........and i planned on my wearing one of my usual 3 button polos, guess i'll reconsider thats a funny story, thanks for sharing..........yeah its gonna be fun, i guess i'll have to get a racing polo or somehting, i'm just not much in to T-shirts. but what the hey, its NASCAR, heck i work on my car in a polo, isn't that odd :whistles: the Ls isn't going as we are traveling via motorcoach from Little rock, even better so i get to put back a few......... might even brink my mullet wig can't wait to hear and see those cars coming by at 200 mph with 800 hp: acutally about 650 with the restrictor plate.
  16. there isn't supposed to be any play as far as the rotor meeting the hug assembly take some brake cleaner and a steel wire brush and scuff and clean the area up really good, on the mating surfacing. you might even have to break out some sandpaper to get it really clean for a flush mount
  17. hey man, glad u had a good vacation its definately your battery, can't get or hold a charge anymore....... replace it and your good to go
  18. hey guys, i just got my NASCAR Talladega Superspeedway tickets for the spring race........i've never been to a NASCAR race before and i'm pumped up. it is a package i got from a local travel agency and it includes: tickets to the busch series and Cup races Round trip luxury motorcoach travel to and from little rock and to and from the races breakfast and lunch provided each day. 3 nights and 4 days accomodations. sovenir program pit passes for both races and hospitality pass man i'm really exited, its gonna be my g/f as well as another couple we are friends with that will be going. just wanted to share, man i'm pumped up, its gonna be a blast. have any of you guys ever been to a nascar race b/f, i heard it was unbeleiveable.
  19. a micro sponge? ok i'll give it shot, i don't think i've seen them though, i'm always looking for better things to use though......trial and error trial and error, good thing i have a PC as i've used some "crap" in the past
  20. yeah u just need to have the right size wrench, and a good extension helps. once it warms up i'm going to do a full tutorial on ignition replacement so we can have around here for reference. plugs, wires, dist cap rotor ect.......... its gonna be fun, can't wait
  21. i mean its good maintence for the vehicle, but i've heard over and over, from very reputable mechanics and enthusiasts that say, its not something that needs to be done, on the LS, unlike domestic cars (and others) which yes need to be done every 30K miles. i've heard of them replacing them after 200K and seeing no wear whatsover and the filter being in perfect or "like new" condition but yeah it couldn't hurt, i like replacing everyting, its fun to me.
  22. man the technology lexus has nowadays is just amazing........ .i can't wait to get myself i newer model, but i can't justify it right now as i love my antique , there is nothing wrong with it and it looks/drives like a dream, but getting a newer model is def. something i look forward to in the future.......it just doesn't really get much better and classier than a new LS...they are top dogs, if you are in to that aspect of a car like i (and most of us) are. my car can get sideways on drive pavement, just like a muscle car, its kinda fun, and odd at that (although i RARELY do that)...but scary in the rain, my new tires have def. helped that issue a lot, its great in the rain now., very safe and reasuring......
  23. nope, thats it, its def. something in the suspension, worn out bushings is very common for that problem as well as stuts, ball joints, tie rods ect........ its very common if not inevitable (sp) that those go out over time. they are correct, a lot of that stuff you can DIY, if you have mechanical skills, as they will reem you with labor costs
  24. i know thats right whatever floats your boat buddy. they are nice cars. congrats, i'm glad you like it. WOW.......thats a pretty bold statement.....but again everyone has there own preference.........mine would def be a pearl white 430 with the 18inch OE chrome wheels..........LOOK OUT!!!!
