  1. SWEET!!! B) glad you got it..............Helluva deal too, nice work, your gonna love it..... :D
  2. i had the same problem a couple years ago, thought it was my tranny so i took it in. it was actually a 15 dollar differential bushing...........the bushing was worn complely down so when the rear end torqued (like when you put it in gear or reverse) it would hit metal to metal, causing the clunk or popping sound needless to say when i found that it was a 15 dollar bushing and 30 dollars labor i was very relieved. hope thats the case for you as well.
  3. thats way too aggressive for me..........i use the dremmel on a lot of things, and i love it.......but i keep it far away from the paint on my car (especailly outside paint,, it can be just way to aggressive and way too easy to mess up with it...... one slip with that thing and can you can burn right throught the pain, no matter what speed you have it on. dremmels are awesome for alot of things, i use it all the time on various difffernt applications, but man i just woudn't touch my paint with it personally. but yeah i'm sure it works great if you can be carefull with it (souns like it works great for you army)....but i would just rather take the time to do it by hand, to insure you get it worked out perfectly. especially if you are a novice the ole dremmel works great to buff out old yellow headlights and exhaust tips as well......
  4. fan bearing is a very reasonable diagnosis.........thats what i would have said as well.... but just like lexls problem its very hard to diagnose over the internet, all we can do is offer opinions <_<
  5. exactly, we can't stress that enough around here, all we can do is offer suggestions, its very hard to diagnose a problem over the internet. anywho glad you got it fixed buddy........thanks for the update
  6. yeah thats great advice by Daffy what you need to do, is sand the rust spot down to a smooth and level situation. then buy a can of rust sealant.........and apply it to the area.......what that will do, essentially is stop the rust from spreading, and actaully seal the small rust spot in. after the rust sealer dries go over it with some matching Lexus touch up paint, build it up in layers (at least 3) letting it dry in between applicatons, then take some fine grit sand paper start with 1500 then end with 2K grit paper to level off and blend the touchup paint, in VERY light and even lateral strokes. after that clean the debris away, then use a good hand applicable scratch remover to remove the light sanding marks, follow with a sealant, and kiss the problem goodbye
  7. thats neat........makes it a little more ridged. good idea
  8. i'm fully aware of the capabilities of both systems. thanks ;)
  9. hey guys on this years tune-up in the spring, i think i'm going to add an MSD ignition system, just for the fun of it. its not something anyone would really think of doing for our LS's but i think it would be a fun project. heck my car is paid off, and i've done pretty much every maintence and preventative maintence that can be done, and now its time for some fun, i'm kinda bored with my car anyway here is what we would need with the part #'s, if any body else is ever interested in this 2) 6A Ignition Controllers Part # 6200 2) Blaster SS Coils Part # 8207 2) Tach/Fuel Adapters Part # 8910
  10. no, actually i bet that heat idea would work. i forgot i've done that before on my Eclipse GSX, my dog scratched it (it was deep), i heated it up with a gun, i beleive, and smoothed it back out perfect, you coulnld't even tell it was ever there. so yeah give it a shot, it could just work. <_<
  11. i know i know..........thats just what i like to do, i only replace the plug wires every 3 years, plugs every year, along with dist. cap, and rotor, but i like everything new and fresh, its just the way i like to do things.. yeah i'm pretty sure i'm going with the Vitek performance wires......although i forgot about the gold membership discounts from Lexpros and lex-parts. so i'm gonna see what they have to offer first.
  12. that thing is sick looking isn't that like a 550-600 HP car? wander what the sticker on it is?
  13. you can send it off to american stitches to have it re-done with leather/wood. it is very expensive though pep boys has a pretty good selection of of leather/wood imitation covers, that can look pretty descent, descent for a wheel cover anyway.
  14. hey guys i'm preparing for my annual overkill tune-up. :whistles: do any of you guys have the hook-up on any good sites that have some cheap/cheaper performance plug wires? if so please list the site for me to check out. thanks.
  15. ok cool, well then i wouldn't worry about it. get your pads from these people, they are in Ar, so shipping is cheap and they have the best costomer service and prices i have found, it only takes like a day or 2 to get em, here is the direct link to the PC pad and accessory page to start with get 2 white, 2 black, and 2 orange pads.(it takes about 2 pads each to do the whole car) for products get Meguiar's DACP, 2.0 swirl remover, then just your favorite sealant i use either NXT or high tech yellow. http://www.topoftheline.com/tolae/porter-cable-polisher.html
  16. take it to the independant shop, (if you trust them) they are a helluva lot cheaper than the Lexus stealer.
  17. i own a '92 but i have driven several 98+ models, the are just better all around. they are more comfy, more elegant, and a helluva a lot faster and more torquey, although my LS with definatley Run :whistles: ......... the looks of the 98+ is really the major thing i like about em, that front grill with the HID's is just soooo sweet looking and timeless, and the wheels, although i have those on mine.... the only thing i can think of i like better on my car then the 98+ is the polished exhaust tips.....when i get a 98+ i'm definatley putting the Gen 1 exhaust tips on her.
  18. thats really cool. thats one of the things i like about nascar, the drivers seem so personable and down to earth....... also the drivers are very accessable (sp) at the track, unlike many other sporting events where you can't get 30 yards from them.
  19. i noticed a huge difference....... the stock bulbs are yellow, the Silverstars are bright white, you can def. see the differnce on the roads and the street signs,a much brighter and whiter look one think i have noticed about the silverstars is they need to be broken in, for some reason the longer you have them in the brighter and whiter they get....i've also noticed that when looking at the bulb they have an outter purple ring now around the beam pattern, looks really clean (i've had em in for about 2 years) i had a buddy put some in his LS and we compared the two....... mine were much more brighter and whiter than his, this was the same when i put them in the Xterra about a year ago, but now they are solid white and very bright. they really look great.
  20. well if a professional told you differently, i would go with that, hes a pro. i'm no pro by any means, just an enthusiast and avid DIYer but i can only offer you my oppinions yes, you could have air in your system, try bleeding the breaks, if you are seeing bubbles come out after you pumping the breaks, yes there is air in the system. that would def. cause a soft break pedal.
  21. oh cool deal i live in west little rock off west Markham, small world maybe when it gets warmer we can meet up and i'll show you have to do your car up right. we can get it shinning like no tommorow no nothing is supposed to be loose on it. see if you can tighten the screws down if you can.......... man i think you got a refurbished unit, just wait and see what they say in the email. and then go from there
  22. thats a helluva deal........great descision, t he 98+ LS is where its at (unless you can afford a '01+)......they are the best IMO, you will love that you went with that generation instead of and earlier one, getting an earlier one would just make you want a 98+, (thats how i feel about mine) <_<
  23. definately keep me posted if you find anything out. i am really interested in the same upgrade you are.
  24. ebay is a great source although i see them on there for about 600 bucks, thats pretty high, but i think thats about what they run try a salvage yard or Lexus recycling place, you can probably find one in great shape good luck
