  1. Let the top down to abt. half-way (let off the button) when you get it there it's easy to clean.
  2. I have a very nice one I'm thinking about selling because I bought a new SC 430 last week. It's 96 SC-300, 59000 miles, Bordeaux Pearl, perfect condition, babied & serviced. I'm in Pryor, Ok. 40 miles from you. johnny3@fullnet.net 918-825-0334
  3. For speedo accuracy 225/50 would be the size, not a lot of selection tho, Falken is a pretty good pick. I tried 2 Goodyear Eagles on the rear, they both got bubbles on the sidewalls. Bad choice.
  4. Try Ebay, go to ebay Automotive, parts & assessorys, type in Lexus SC, hit search.
  5. Make sure you didn't get the thermostst turned upside down & there's no air that needs bleeding out.
  6. Mine does it too, it's a 300 with 45k miles. I've been a mech. my whole life & know it's bottom end,(mains/rods). It's mostly drain back after 8 hr. of sitting, worse in winter, worse with Mobil 1 than reg. oil. I use oem filters supposibly with a built in check valve, I sure don't like to hear it but don't think replacing bearings is nescessary or would even correct it.
  7. Does anybody with a SC-300 have a problem with noisy engine (bottom end) on start-up after sitting 8 hrs. or so? First 2 sec. sounds dry especially in cold weather. I've tryed syn. oil,5-30, but I think it was a little worse, I'm using Nippon, OEM oil filters. 50K miles on car.
  8. Keep your original alt. Find a rebuild shop & have them repair it. The factory alt. is superior to the after market rebuilds at Napa, Autozone, etc. Core means you trade your alt. for theirs plus the price, your old one is the "core."
  9. Sounds like you need a new belt or the tensioner is not keeping it tight enough. Take a bar of soap & with the engine idling, carefully rub it on the belt surfaces & see if that changes the sound, if it does change the belt.
  10. The axle bearing is starting to fail if you can see no other looseness anywhere. It will start making a roaring/grinding noise as it get worse, also it may start to drag on the brake disc, turn your radio down once in a while & listen so you can get it changed when it gets worse. Any decent shop can replace it, doesen't have to be a Lexus dealer.
  11. Any auto-mechanic can replace the differential seal, very straight-forward simple job.
  12. I'd wait til it sets a trouble code, I've seen the O2 sensors last 200k plus.
  13. Fill your tank with hi-octane aviation fuel.
  14. Back tires need balancing, broken motor mount, bad driveshaft couplings or bent, CV joints at rear axle bad.
  15. Probably the caliper hanging up, sometimes the brake hose to that wheel brake will break down & collapse inside stopping the fluid from backing out making that brake stay loaded or applied, this happens more often than you would expect.
  16. I take compressed air with a 14" piece of copper tube on the end of the blower nozzle, turn pressure down to 30 psi & just blow them out.
  17. Open the trunk, pull back the cosmetic lining material exposing the back of the tail light, remove the 6 nuts holding the light assembly to the body, slide assembly out & the bulb sockets are there, change as needed.
  18. Go to car-part.com you'll find one, several prices usually.
  19. Very glad to know that, thank you very much.
  20. Get on Ebay, go to Ebay Automotive, then parts & assessorys, then type in Lexus SC over on the left & hit search. I saw several stock wheels .
  21. Theres a engine on Ebay with 100+k & a auto. transmission with 40+k, both start at $100.00,for pick up in Chicago area.
  22. Hope this picture gets sent, here goes. pcc
  23. Try, importedcarparts.com That's where I get a lot of OEM parts for Lexus & Acura, OEM brakes & clutches are the cheapest way to go as they outlast after -market by 100% or more.
  24. It still sounds like the brakes. Get it on its noise speed & lightly apply the brakes, does the noise change or go away? If so you are hearing the brake pads vibrating against the rotors. If there's plenty of pad thickness left it's not hurting anything but you'll probably have to change them to get away from the annoying sound. Use OEM pads for the quietest sound.
