  1. That sounds very reasonable. What was the approximate price you paid for the rebuild alternator?
  2. Item Number: BJ044543 Main Category: LEXUS Ok. That's good to know. Just FYI, here is the info I got from an online website. Bosch is mentioned often. I'm assuming that Lexus purchases alternators wholesale for an orignial part. Anyone know who they use? Sub Category: Qualifier: SC300 1992 - 1995 Description: Alternator, Rebuilt 92-12/93 (100Amp.) Manufacturer: BOSCH List Price: Your Price:$ 157.76 Core Price: $111.00 Weight: 14.970 Per Car Qty: 1 Quantity Available: 1
  3. I hope you love your Sc300 as much as I love mine. I have the Jade colo as well but in a '93 - $125k. Until it reached $115K, I had virtually no problems with my car... and I'm a woman drive in LA - primarily. hee hee/. Needless to say, my first year was spent hiding from lookerbys telling me to SLOW DOWN!. Mine isn't turbo and an automatic. After owning a Mustang (manual stick), I had a minute of second thoughts as to performance. But... it was just a minute. I've been smiling while driving ever since - a bit slower though since I unwillingly became "friends" with the DMV and my insurance company. :-) I don't intend to exaggerate. My Mustang was a V6 and was not the performance I expected; but I've never regretted buying my Lexus and I'll be sad the day we part. Plus it still looks beautiful! I'm constantly told it looks much younger than it's age. ;) Anyway... my alternator crashed, I'm told. So I'm due to get it analyzed after I receive advice. - hence my recent membership -first online group I have joined in my 15 years of online computing. It must have been the cool people writing messages, the privacy control, the management hands-on website control and active participation... - but glad to finally feel confortable on a professionally run and good group of Like Minded Lexus owners. Have fun!
  4. Ok. Better than going to the dealer, I assume? Also, what's your opinion on online auto parts dealers? I found a rebulit alternator for under $200. They mention cost for Core, however. Is it necessary to replace the core as well? Thanks for responding. :-)
  5. Anyone have advice on alternator repair, service, installation, etc.? - recently laid off so funds are scarce. Dare I try to install one myself with little or no mechanic experience? Otherwise, please advise. I live in Orange County California. Thanks!
