  1. I have a 2007 and haven't yet changed my air filter. But assuming your 2006 is the same, it looks very straightforward to remove with 4 snap clips and possibly the snorkel clamp. Tom
  2. I wonder... The electric power stearing cannot (is not??) be nearly as stiff/solid at holding the front wheels (fully/tightly) alligned with the actual stearing wheel position, is that maybe a contributing factor to early tire wear?? I think more likely just a front wheel drive vehicle with considerable torque. Tom
  3. Might you mean 2006?
  4. I haven't experienced exactly your problem but I have noticed that I can top off and get an additional 1.0 to 1.5 gallons into the tank if I persists long enough. Tom
  5. Minocap, Lexus markets this pet barrier as an accessory for the RX330 for $69.95, which I would assume also fits the 400h. Tom http://lexusds.com/a-detail.asp?ID=2170&am...tegory=Interior
  6. If you want gold exhaust tips, it's not terribly expensive to have them plated. Check the yellow pages for metal plating. Tom
  7. You will soon be sorry you started this thread. Tom
  8. I think I have the same box in my 400h. Frankly I think it's a goofy design--hard to get small things out from the bottom. Tom
  9. I would have preferred the AWD for additional trailer towing and better acceleration but couldn't find one before the IRS rebate deadline last year. Of couse the AWD also gives up a little fuel economy. Tom
  10. I've been noticing that when I fill my tank I can add as much as an additional gallon if I "top off" repeatedly. Yes, I know this is a no-no but I'm just experimenting. This of course makes a significant difference in mileage from tank to tank even though long-term it's not important. Have others noticed the same characteristics when filling up? Tom
  11. The body shop that my Lexus dealer recommended just happens to be owned by the Roger Penske who also owns the dealership. Who'd have guessed? And for the work I needed they were about 50% higher than two other high-end body shops. Tom
  12. I don't have an EX but other Lexus models I have owned have a on/off button for the keyless remote. I think my last LS400 had it below the instrument panel on the left hand side. Tom
  13. You will not make any new friends at the tire stores when they encounter your green slime. It's messy and they hate it. Tom
  14. Rustoleum used to make a product called Rusty Metal Primer that was amazing. You brushed it on directly over the rust and it chemically bonded to same. I used it on the very rusty steel frame of my shed over 10 years ago, then painted over it with a white top coat. It's still perfect today. Tom
  15. Looking forward to the pictures, MadloR. Tom
  16. Looks like, for their size, they're pound-for-pound a bit more expensive that enriched uranium. Tom
  17. MadMan no humor intended, but what type of roads do you generally drive on? Smooth paved, potholes, dirt? I'm just mystified as to why I have no rattles whatsoever, other than pure luck, and you have a laundry list of same. Tom
  18. Ted, I have no experience towing with my RX but do plan on adding a hitch to pull a light aluminum flatbed trailer. But somehow I've always assumed that serious off-road vehicles were designed to be capable of fairly deep water--sealed bearings, high exhaust systems, etc. I somehow doubt that the RX is so designed. But you know what they say about assuming? :chairshot: Tom
  19. Jerry, perhaps posting a picture would help us understand better. Tom
  20. Thanks, Savanah. I understand the lighting issues. But I have run by battery completely down twice and not had to recalibrate anything. It worked fine after I charged it overnight. Tom
  21. BUMP !!! Just giving this another try. Tom
  22. Some good points Savanah about what to expect in a $50K Lexus. I, for one, have no rattles in either of my 2007 400h's. Perhaps I am lucky, or they made some running changes since 06. The revised EPA figures on our cars are now City 27 and Highway 25. I get a fairly consistent 26 in both cars with a mix of city and local freeway driving. That's acceptable to me for the size, weight, and features of the cars. I agree the the electronics could have been more inventive. My 94 BMW 740iL had a much more fun trip computer than our new RX's which are 13 years newer. I agree that the engine/motor sounds under acceleration are very harse. Demonstrating the performance to passengers isn't high on my list for this reason. I don't notice any significant wind noise. I got lucky with Michelin tires on both RX's. I"m not sure what interior lights you are referring to that don't turn off with the key. If you mean the reading lights, I don't know of any other cars that override the on position when the car is locked, although it's not a bad idea at all. I, too, have run down my battery by leaving these on overnight. It would be easier to notice if the interior lights didn't have a delayed turn-off. Tom
  23. Good BBQ is worth traveling for...free BBQ is even better. :D Tom
  24. Absolutely Toyota could protect it's full-price dealers. Try to find Harley Davidson OEM parts discounted online. I have failed to date. Tom
  25. Hello Patrick. Ditto re no option to edit a subject line type.....embarassing or at least frustrating depending on the degree of mistake. I don't want to state the obvious but changing out one model Lexus seat for another sounds like major work, unless the replacement seat just happens to fit the space, track, mounts etc. And probably quite expensive unless you find some junk yard seats. I would guess that your best option, still not cheap, is to find a good upholster to modify and recover the seats, or I assume seat bottoms. I have found that quality upholsters have access to many factory fabrics/leathers and probably could match the OEM leather. Just my two cents without any actual experience. Tom
