  1. I've noticed this also in Arizona rains. (not much snow to experiment with however). Tom
  2. Thanks, SK, I'll be checking the trunk harness after I please the IRS. Tom
  3. MadloR, are we both talking about a liner for the rear storage area, behind the rear seats? I have the carpeted rear liner which is nice quality but things slide around and keep me from driving like a maniac. PS: Thanks for not making fun of me for missing the meaning of your member name and calling you "Jim" for a while. Duhhhhhhh Did you both see the WeatherTech liner in person? It looks like excellent quality as have been other products I have purchased from them before. Are these liners designed to fit with the seats forward or does that leave a gap at the front end? Tom
  4. I've been looking at the WeatherTech cargo liner to replace the factory carpet-style mat. My main interest is to avoid cargo sliding around more than concerns about spills. It's somewhat pricy at $110 (plus $12 to get it to my front door) but looks well made. It's physical weight is about 7 pounds which should make it fairly easy to lift up to access the compartments below. Has anyone seen this brand of liner? Tom
  5. Skyfish, yes that is an 07 addition. Actually I figured Lexus added them to appease Rey. :) Only teasing Rey, you're a cool dude. Tom
  6. Yes, Ray, I have "HYBRID1" on order as we speak. Tom
  7. I know that I post this too often, but shopping by phone, and implying that you are calling a number of dealers to get the best price, is way better than a personal visit. Dealers know quite well that you are somewhat of a captive once you are there and are much more likely to make a deal that suits them. As far as rarity, dealers can usually get enough of any model to fill their demand, and are usually willing to sell at a reasonable markup if need be. They can make more on some buyers but won't let the less profitable deals get away. Tom
  8. Less attractive than MadloR's tile, I have also been testing some 12 x 12 commercial vinyl tiles, the kind that have the color/pattern all the way through. They seem impervious to chemicals and chips so far. If I go with them, I may glue only the perimeter tiles and leave the rest loose. If'/when I damage one I can simply drop in a new one. Of course buying adequate spares is important. Tom
  9. Voina, my RX is not home at the moment, but I believe that the manual says the outlets are fused at 10 amps. Tom
  10. Looks like the (2WD) RX400h drops to 27 city, 25 highway, which is somewhat closer to my numbers. FYI, I raised my tire pressures from 30 to 36 and saw no significant change in fuel mileage. Tom
  11. Rey, I would normally agree with Dave but I just experienced a failure on my Porsche with less than 1000 miles on the tires when I picked up a nail in the sidewall which was not repairable. If $78 is the cost for 4 tires you might consider it. Tom
  12. Be proud of what you have, Ray. I love my hybrid too but intend to personalize it with an appropriate vanity plate very soon. Tom
  13. Interesting, I have a 90 LS400 which is just sitting around for now with the same problem--4 speeds during the day but only 1st & 2nd gear with the headlights on. Dealers have told me to look for a grounding problem in/around the instruments or shift lever. Tom
  14. 2247 miles @ 22.46 mpg, Arizona climate, city and local freeway, sometimes a bit spirited driving cause it's a fun car. Tom
  15. Thanks for the information, MadloR. Tom
  16. I would have to politely disagree with SW. You should be able to get about that deal on a new model by phone shopping and playing dealers against one another. And it's better to work from dealer cost than discounts from retail. You should be able to get it for around $1500 over invoice, and one with 3000 miles should be substantially lower. Tom
  17. MadloR, the floor looks just great. I have been exploring various possibilities myself but have not considered tile. Apparently they also have not cracked or chipped from the weight of your vehicle(s) or things like floor jacks? Tom
  18. There is no drive shaft, so only the rear electric motor (AWD only) drives the rear wheels. Tom
  19. Considering that the OEM sticker is still on the tire tread, I suspect that Jim does not yet have a lot of performance or rubbing data. :) Jim, I'm more interested in the flooring. Is that your garage floor? Tell me more. Tom
  20. There seem to be several posts on cleaning leather seats with a Woolite/water solution. Is there an optimum mixture that works best and does the least damage to the leather while still getting the leather clean? Tom
  21. Buy the car from the other dealer, then take it to Lexus of Orland and show it to the general manager and tell him your story. His reaction should be interesting. Tom
  22. I tried nitrogen, added for free at Costco, in two RX400h's and a Porsche 968, and monitored the cold pressures closely. In all three vehicles (12 tires), I lost about 4 psi in about 2 months. I found this unacceptable. I couldn't adjust pressures in my garage and didn't want to make monthly trips to Costco so I dumped the nitrogen and went back to good old air. Tom
  23. Good idea, jditom. I am now correctly identified as FWD. Tom
  24. You have got to be kidding? Did you make this up? It's absurd.
  25. Jditom, here's a previous post I made about my 07 RX400h purchase: Husker. I only made a few calls, mostly adjacent states. Then I called three local dealers and essentially told them I had firm quotes as low as $1500 over invoice. Two immediately said they would match the price The third didn't call back. Be careful however to get the out-the-door price as doc fees etc can vary. My 07 came out to be: $48,306 invoice $42,772 dealer cost $ 1,500 dealer profit $44,272 my price $ 412 misc fees $44,684 total before sales tax, license and registration fees I don't think that there is any shortage of RX400h's, so a dealer will likely do whatever he needs to do to keep from losing a sale. Also there is always additional profit for the dealer with end-of-the-year holdback, which is a somewhat guarded number. Hope this helps. Tom
