  1. i cant drive in the snow and i dont like to even start my car when its cold outside. unofortunately i have to since i have to work night shifts at work now but its temporary. during last snow storm i got stuck 4 times and i dont want this to happen again so i use acura which handles better on the snow and lexus is in the worm garage sleeping:)
  2. i have a word document on how to change the timing belt. this is good for gen I and II ls 400
  3. i wish i had ur problems. i have to do everithing either in my or my friends garage or just on the street:(
  4. i tried 2 toyota dealerships. they refused. one of the told me that they dont have access to lexus database and dont know what my car needs. and another one told me that they have an agreement with lexus not to do lexus cars...
  5. my boss has a regular TL and its not faster then LS, type S prolly a lil faster and as to the space it feels smaller then my legend! i really think legend was the best acura model even but even legend cant compare to LS. my legend is on stick and has a rebuilt engine and transmission and every part of the car is in the top shape, but even in this shape it cant compare to LS.:) i also drove my GFs moms 2003 v6 camry her 2004 accord and guys... its like night and day. i felt so happy went i got back to my car and was able to press accelerator and feel the acceleration and hear the rev of my V8. i dont think i will be able to drive anything else from now on:)
  6. heh thats a good idea, i dont drive my car to work during winter times. everytime u start it during cold temps u kill the engine so i take a bus or hop a ride with some1:) as to the leaks did you check the rack? check the rack and check the difference between levels with engine on and off:)
  7. dont use any type II tranny fluid. use only toyota fluid. plus get a record from the dealership if you tranny has ever been serviced. if not this tranny flush can kill it. do it only if its absolutely necessary. also if ur tranny slips and kicks there is a big chanse it might not work afterwards.
  8. unfortunately people who are gettin those 2004 Ls dont usually bother to chat in forums so you prolly gonna be the first person with 2004 LS in here if u will get it:)
  9. its not governet to 131, at least not in my car. the top speed for 96 LS is 156 mph and i did 145 of them! prolly gen III and IV and V they did that but not on the first 2. even my lexus manual said its 156 and not 131
  10. i have to agree with u on the last statement. ive done the same on my LS on the racing track:) only mine has less miles thats y i had a lil better time. GEN III LS will do the same time but not better in average
  11. i agree that GEN III LS is a better looking car. i would love to get one myself later on. but as to perfomance i went to the track with clublexus people in my area couple of times and i didnt see any difference in the 1/4 mile times. Gen II and III had slightly better times then gen I. i did 1/4 mile in 15.3 while GS 430 withmodified torque converter did 14.8 none of the lexus models passed 14.0 mark. best time was from turobcharged Is 300 and it was 14.3
  12. oh sorry, procedure i described was for Gen II LS.
  13. there was a thread b4 chrash about this. i hope cole carter will see this thread and repost his info about how to fix it. as i rememer you have to remove the intrsument cluster and change couple or ICs on the back of it.
  14. first of all VVTI technology proved to be less reliable then the original one thus making maintenancy more expensive plus i never saw gen III LS doin 0-60 in 6.4. 7.4 may be but not 6.4. wooden steering wheel is a plus as well as couple more airbags. thats pretty it
  15. there was another guy here who had this problem but in his case it was a wrong timing and after he redid it it was ok. but in your case i think it might be elecitrical then. do you remember if car had this behaviour b4 tuneup or got it right after haviung tuneup?
  16. open the glove compartment and remove the little cover on the glove compartment. then remove the cover from the filterbox. after you done this you will be able to pull the filter out. make sure you have a bag ready to put it in since it tend to get dusty even after 15k
  17. all LS vehicles are made in japan and you can check it by VIN number.acutally you can check any car. if it starts with J it means japan. there is not much difference between GEN II and genII LS at least not on the interior or exterior. lexus tends to keep LS series the same at least inside. engine got 30 more HP, suspension was redezigned and the front of the vehicle got a new headlights. its not that hard to work on this car. most of the parts are accessible and all the procedures are described in the manual
  18. just a suggestion but it might be ur spark plugs. this solved this problem for me...:) may b its time for the tune up
  19. Craig i have to do that too when i turn the ac on but its not enuff to be an emergency situation plus brakes still work
  20. does the brake pedal vibrates or kicks back? if yes then resurface your rear rotors.
  21. does RPMs go higher when it happens? might be a problem with transmission. tranny switches into the lower gear but the torque converter not releasing
  22. hey, jus try to use them at different speeds. i usually set them at the lowest possible. there are 3 positions plus i can configure time intervals when they are set to work on the lowest speed.
  23. migirdech, mfactory manual is 3 volumes! i hope u got all 3 of them for those money. as to the light i think it just blown:)
  24. i agree with obergc, computer failure is way to broad. you main ECM gets data from bunch of ECUs and most of them operate on the logic that is based on the error occuring at least 2 times during the trip under certain conditions. a wide variety of agregates in your car can lead to this trouble so you have to narrow the problem down. try to drive on the highway for 20 mins at the speeds you descirbed and check if you will have this problem. if you will then you can ask your dealr to get get special lexus OBD II scanner and put it in to test mode and take a ride with u. scanner will show what kind of codes you are getting.
