hmm insufficient spark.... and how do you test for this? i recently changed all the cables and spark plugs. i used denso cables and denso iridium spark plugs., i changed rotors and caps as well. aslo why dont i get this smoke when i rev engine when the car is not moving?

uisualy black stuff means that the gap is too big and tiny sparks appear creating that black corrosion. check ebay for new switch:) i saw em there for like 50$ for the whole assembly for all 4 windows. or you can contact a guy who is parting his ls and get the part from him. i know its the ez way out but....

i noticed recently if i floor the pedal while driving i have grey smoke coming out. whn i floored the pedal while car was parked there was no smoke at all. is this my crankshaft and camshaft seals?

concrats on your purchase and welcome to the club of lexus owners!!!!:) yeah there should be no wind noise whatsoever at any speed. check all the door seals. to check the cabin ari filter you have to open the glove compartment and remove a lil plastic black cover. after that you will see a probably white cover almost same thise as that black cover. it is almost sealed to the container with the cabin filter. take the cover out and you will see the filter. pull it out slowly since it might be really dirty. clean it the the compressed air container that is available at any store. if it will not help you will have to spend 56$ for the new filter:) WELCOME THE CLUB of big repair $$ B)

yeah take that big wire from the starter and check for continuity. if there is none then this is the wire, if there is at least smth then wire is ok

i know i have same engine:) its a real pain to change it. but i rememer some1 did it wihtout taking the engine apart , but through the hole in front of the engine, i'm not sure if its possible but i will not say its not

well it depends on what kind of lexus you want all LS400 models come with v8 4.0 or 4.3 engines while gs comes in greater variety. gs300 comes with i6 3.0 while gs400/430 comes with basically same engine as ls400. RX and ES come with 3.0 or 3.3 V6 LX GX come with v8 4.5 or 4.7 engines IS comes with same i6 engine as gs300

looks like electrical parts is ok then. i'm afraidyou might have to remove the starter again to make sure it spins and pinion comes out.:(

yeah thats what i was talking about. but i still not sure if your problem is electrical or mechanical, but just in case i will follow 99ls and will make a pic of a wiring diagram for the starter.

i'm not that big and it was pretty ez to do to be honest with u. i was expecting it to be much harder, but only after 3 hard pulls it started to move. dont forget that my flywheel had a screwdriver stuck in it to prevent it from moving.
