  1. I did not know that the GS' spare tire have a sensor too.
  2. Steviej, what kind of spray silicone do you recommand?
  3. Tillie, your son in law is right, you dont have to put sport tires on it, but you should try to get the same speed rating. Try a grand touring tire if you prefer a smooth ride.
  4. They have the same problem in the LS forum, dash squeaks and rattles. Its the new dash clips that Lexus is using and some say the material Lexus is using is cheaper now, so they expand more with temperature.
  5. If you didnt break it, its a defect and cover by warranty.
  6. My old BMW use to do the samething, the inside of the tires wears out faster, thats due to the negetive camber. Sports car usually have some degree of negetive camber built in to improve cornering. The inside of the tire will wear out a bit faster, thats normal. If you lower your suspension or like to push your car hard around corners, the inside will wear out faster.
  7. Thats the airbag light right, I wouldnt mess around with that, time for a long road trip to the dealer.
  8. You need to specify to the dealer you want 2 keys with fob, especially when the car is used. At this point, you can buy the ket from ebay, cut it and have the dealer program it, or just let the dealer do everything. Either way, its going to be $250 to $350 for the new key.
  9. Make sure the height sensor is connected, they may have disconnted it by accident. Bring it back to them and have them check it out.
  10. Thats Utube video is the 9005 LED bulb, they are white but not nearly bright enought for high beam. You put those on, you pretty much have no high beam at all.
  11. Who knows whats going to happened to the re-design GX. The original plan was for the re-design 4runner was 2009 and a re-design GX a year after that. That plan have been push back one years in 2007. Now Toyota have just announce that they will stop large truck and SUV production for 3 months due to slow sales, after that, it will reduce large truck and SUV production by almost a half. If this trend continues, the re-design GX may be much further out than 2011.
  12. The Highlander is a crossover, the GX will not be based on the Highlander.
  13. Shift your transfer case back to high and go on your merry way. The neutral in the transfer case is for when you are being tow.
  14. The ES also handles no better than a Camry.
  15. You are really talking about 2 trucks at the different end of the reliability rating chart. The GX470 being in the top 10 and the Rover being near the bottom. If reliebility is not an issue or you have a second car and alot of soare time you can spend at the Rover dealer, then go for the Range Rover. Also, the Range Rover dealer service is terrible. There sales department treats you like a king, but once you bought the car from them, its all down hill from there. Again, Lexus dealers are rated near the top as far as customer service.
  16. While it is true that the GS is has a lot of minor issues, once its fix, it is a near perfect car mechanically. I have own a few Japanese and German high end cars and none of them come close to being perfect. I must agree, the rattles in the GS is very disappointing, Lexus know of the problem since 06 and still to this date have not install the fix from the factory. I guess they are taking the same approach with the rest of the Lexus lineup, they all have issues that Lexus decided to fix it at the dealership instead of from the factory. Thats why the initial quality for Lexus have drop, its all about cost cutting, its cheaper to fix at the dealer than to apply changes at the production line. When you say lumpy center armrest, do you mean the leather is not as smooth as you like. I have notice that too, the leather on the armrest is not the highest quality. I have tried leather canditioner to no avail. I never had a problem with the B-pillar or the finish on plastic drivers sill.
  17. It takes about 2 to 3 hours to fix the clunk, no charge since its a warranty issue. Ask the dealer if he has the parts and ask for a loaner car.
  18. Unless you plan to go offroad, stick with the RX.
  19. Thats correct GS996TTCayS, the average driver cannot sense or feel minor pre-detonation.
  20. I think Lexus does that on purpose, it tells you that you have reached your destination early so you can start looking for a house number or a building.
