  1. How soon one forgets 9/11/01. That sneak attack had the same gravity as the attack on Pearl Harbor. Surely you wouldn't expect FDR or Bush to simply ignore the events. Neither of those presidents "started" a war. Why would you say I forgot about 9/11, I just mention it on my last post. As far as I know Iraq is not responsible for 9/11. Bush W start a war, Obama is now trying to shift the attention back to Afghanistan to revenge 9/11.
  2. I am not saying I agree with Obama's spending, I also do not agree with government running big cooperation, but this mess was started by Bush W and Obama is certainly making it worst. Clinton had the national deficit under control and the next two president spend enough money to make sure we are not debt free anymore. You must admit, they both had good intentions, Bush spend the money on a war against terrorism and lower taxes, Obama spend the money trying to stop the bleeding in the US economy. Just remember, any stupid man can start a war, but it take a smart man to avoid one.
  3. The road is an enlarged jug handle pretty much. He went onto the shoulder of the curved road hoping to squeeze pass me in a single lane. He also was going way too fast. He wouldnt have been able to see my signal the way he came through. In all honestly in this situation I would feel better to do something active rather and just pay a deductible for someone who hit me and sped off. If I dont find the driver in the end of the day it will be ok...I just want to not take this sitting down. I also checked on streetview on google maps and I did find speed cams in the intersection so I do have high hopes. I hope you find the guy. I dont know if you guys have the point system in NJ, but in MA we do and no one stops for accidents anymore unless they have to. The point system has its good and bad I guess.
  4. The potential for electronic defects in Toyota vehicles to cause sudden acceleration came under intensifying scrutiny Tuesday as both federal safety regulators and congressional leaders said they had begun new probes of the issue. Federal safety regulators disclosed Tuesday that they had begun a "fresh review" of the electronic throttle system in Toyota and Lexus vehicles, which connect a driver’s foot to the engine through sensors, computers and wires, rather than a mechanical link. The action comes after a growing number of independent experts have voiced doubt about Toyota’s explanation, saying it cannot account for all the reports of sudden acceleration and that part of the blame may rest with the electronic throttle system. The Los Angeles Times reported last fall that complaints of sudden acceleration in Toyota vehicles skyrocketed with the introduction of electronic throttles.
  5. But it took an event like 9/11 for Bush to make a speech with actual content that people would actually listen to, by the way, I think Obama would have given a much better speech in that situation. If you take away that Bush speech and compare the state of the union address between Bush and Obama, one can easily see the difference in mental capacity between the two.
  6. Lexus leather is very soft and nice to the touch, but they dont wear too well compare to German cars. All my Lexus started to show wrinkles at about 10000 miles, but to the OP, leather wear at 2500 miles is a warranty item no matter what Lexus say. Dont let them get away with it, keep pushing for a warranty repair.
  7. What about the now, does the LX owners think it is ok for GX to have the sand dollar color now that the GX actually cost $65000? :)
  8. Sorry alexpro, I cannot help you. I never had to change the HID out in my old RX when we had it.
  9. Congrats, If you have ML, you should have navi. Maybe the DVD is not in the drive. The wipers can be lower by taking off the whole arm and re-positioning it.
  10. You should also change HIDs lights in pairs since the old one will be weaker and different color.
  11. dbh100, cases like yours is starting to be more and more common as Toyota gets bigger and bigger. The bottom line of any company is profit and Toyota didnt make any last year. They are cutting back in areas where they should not have. I remember when Lexus dealers will bent over backward for their customers. I have owned Lexus for over 10 years and have notice service and quality have decline in recent years. I would start by filing a complain with Lexus headquarter, if that doesnt work, file a formal complain with the BBB, I know Lexus hates BBB complains. Good Luck
  12. I agree denslexusgx470, when I 1st sat in the 05 GX, I was in love with the interior. THis new interior, I can take it or leave it. I could not test drive the new GX460 because it was inside the showroom and was the only one they had. Did the GX you drove have the KDSS suspension? How did it handle compare to the old one?
  13. the next generation SC is already on the drawing board, rumor has it that it will be design to truly compete with the Mercedes SL & BMW 6-Series. http://www.topspeed.com/cars/car-news/lexu...ii-ar84244.html
  14. ManP0899, how did the other driver even have enough space to squeeze thru your right side. I hope you did not make one of those wide right turns like some people who turn left a bit before they turn right. They really confuse the driver behind them. Also, did you signal for a right turn? Usually drivers will not try to sneak by your right side if your signal lights are on. I would just chalk it up to experience, I could just let the insurance company take care of it instead of playing detective yourself.
  15. You should take the spare down once a while to exercise the mechanism.
  16. I am not sure if the gas pedal on the new RX is made by CTS, but even if it is, that doesnt mean its the same pedal in the recall.
  17. No there isnt a way to read tire pressure individually.
  18. That is what I thought too, I had a ES and thought that the next step up on the Lexus ladder is the GS. Boy was I wrong. the GS is a totally different car, rides very rough and actually smaller than the ES. If I had to do it all over again, I should ahve gotten a LS460 or some other brand.
  19. I am sure what happened, just like the government and Toyota really dont know what happen. They think its the floor mat because its not the right one, but there is no way to know for sure. If this can happen to a driving instructor, it can happen anyone, that is all I am saying.
  20. I guess that guy from Lextech had a bad day :)
  21. The new GX try to go upsacle, the new interior looks more like a Rover interior than a Lexus. Kind of look like the new LX's interior. Some may like the new look and some may not, personally, I prefer the old interior. The pricing is out of control, theya re now in the MB GL, X5 and Rover territory. The GX is a nice truck, but I would much rather buy any one of those 3 other truck than the GX. Finally, the torque band, Lexus should have put a forced induction V6 in their to compensate for the lack of low end torque and where in the world is the diesel option powertrain?
  22. It sounds like Jim Lentz is talking around thing and doing some damage control at the same time. He said he cannot guarantee Toyota owners that these recalls will fix all of the sudden accelartion problem with Toyota. That is understandable because it is impossible to determine if all the sudden accelartion cases are related to these fixes, but what really concern me is that, if Toyota knew about these problems for 3 years and they are just now engineering a fix, then waht other problem they know about or havent yet know about that they are not sharing with us. Putting any car into neutral should cut power to the wheels, but the problem is that one should not have to worry about putting a car into neutral all the time, it makes for a very un-relaxing driving experience. Also there are different drivers out there with different driving skill, some might be just beginners and some might have slow reaction time due to their age or handicap. In some highway traffic situation, there is simply not enough time to hit the brakes and realizing that the car is not slowing down and then try to shift into neutral after that.
  23. Here is the info on the fix, Toyota is not going to replace the gas pedals. Instead they will install a reinforcing plate behind the pedal assembly. I am not sure how this will work, does anyone have a better understanding what the reinforcing plate does? http://money.cnn.com/2010/02/01/autos/toyo...l_fix/index.htm
  24. As we all know, interior design of a car is subjective, some may like it and some may not. I find the Genesis' interior a bit boring. The interior material is very good in this price range but there is just no continuity to the interior, a bunch of controls here and a break in the lines and another group of controls. As far as the Hyundai dealer, the closest one to where I live is about 15 miles. The dealership use to be a warehouse. The HVAC is weak, the building is old, the waiting lounge is worst than the Toyota dealer. Hyundai try to section off a dealership just for the Genesis, but its still in the same building and in my opinion, it is not enough to separate the luxury owners and the Elantra owners :)
