  1. I agree with cduluk, leather repair guys can do amazing things, but perforated leather is very hard to work on. Also the stretch marks and wrinkles can made to look less noticable, but it will not be like new.
  2. GS350 AWD, mostly city driving. Average about 17 MPH city and 26 highway. I do about 80-85 mph on the highway.
  3. The ES is based on a US Toyota Camry platform and the GS is a Lexus platform. The ES was meant to be a entry level luxury sedan while the GS is design to be a sport luxury sedan. Lexus sells many more ES here in the US than they do GS.
  4. A good example would be that state trooper from CA who die when his ES speed out of control. He was a driving instructor for the state police and most certainly would have known to throw the car into neutual. Also, did you guys see the pictures from that accident, there wasnt much left of that ES, how on earth can they determine it was the floor mats that cause the gas pedal to get stuck.
  5. The LF-CH is a 3 door hatchback. It will be a tough sell here in the US since luxury 3 door hatchbacks just dont sell here. 3 door hatchbacks are popular in Europe, but Lexus still havent been able to break into that market yet.
  6. Well, this certainly doesnt make me feel any better. From that second link, the Denso unit actaully looks cheaper than the CTS unit that is being recall. I cannot believe these are $15 gas pedals installed on these cars, I would much rather pay more for a safer gas pedal if I had a choice. The gas pedal and brake are not a very good place for cost cutting in my opinion.
  7. Thats the problem with the GS, its either luxury nor sporty. Its a great highway crusier, but then so are all the other Lexus. Its a shame too, the material in the GX is top notch but it is poorly design. Almost all GS have rattle issues, mostly form fasteners and poor dash design. I am seriously considering a Genesis for my next car, one just cannot beat the price. The interior design does need improvement and the dealerships are terrible. Other than that, its a lot of car for the money.
  8. The turth is that I think even Toyota is not sure what is causing all these sudden accelaration issues, all they really know is that incidents of Toyota sudden accelartion has mutiply since Toyota started to use drive by wire. In many instances, the sudden accelaration cause is impossible to re-create making it near impossible to troubleshoot. Toyota has plan to install in system that will idle the engine if it detect barking and the car is not slowing down. The system is much cheaper to install since all the components are already in place such as speed sensor and brake position sensor. All Toyota will need to do is write a few lines of codes for the ECU and reflash it. Toyota plan to do this software recall on all affected vehicle and most of the new vehicle coming off the production line.
  9. Toyota Motor Corp. plans to start sending parts to dealers in the coming days to fix a sticky gas pedal problem that has tarnished its image and led to the recall of 4.2 million cars and trucks on three continents, according to people briefed on the matter. Several dealers have said the fix involves slipping a shim into an area where springs push the gas pedal back to its resting position after a driver has eased off the gas, but Toyota has not commented on the repair. Meanwhile, PSA Peugeot Citroen, Europe’s second-largest automaker, will recall more than 90,000 cars because they may share a gas-pedal flaw that prompted Toyota Motor Corp. to recall millions of vehicles. The action affects about 10 percent of Peugeot 107 and Citroen C1 models sold throughout Europe, or fewer than 100,000 vehicles, Jean-Marc Sarret, a spokesman for the Paris-based carmaker, said in a telephone interview, http://bostonherald.com/business/automotiv...p;position=also What makes me a little nervious is the fact that Toyota is not replacing the CTS pedal with the Denso unit. Instead, they are installing a shim in the spring assembly of the CTS unit. It will be interesting to see if Peugeot Citroen which will recall the same CTS pedal will replace the while unit instead of trying to fix it.
  10. I like what GM and Ford is doing, they are providing a service for Toyota owners who no longer want their car. They are offering an cash incetive for their Toyota trade in.
  11. The LS's gas pedal looks totally different from the Camry, its much bigger. I doubt the LS have the same pedal, after all, the LS is Lexus flagship and it should have the best of everything.
  12. Even though the brake pedal recall doesnt affect any Lexus, there are still a number of report of ES speeding out of control, such as that state trooper in CA that die. Most of the time, these kind of accidents are impossible to trace as to the source of the fail compontent, if electronics is to blame, them is near impossible to trace. The fact is that the public may or may never know what really happen.
  13. The Denso unit seems to have a much larger pivot point which means it has a larger and heavier duty bearing or a rotation device. My guess is that it is that bearing or rotation device that is getting stuck or jam.
  14. Realizied that about 30 seconds after I posted this lol! The AWD model lists for $88,000 brand new on the Lexus Canada Website! Are you $hi%ting me?! :( http://www.lexus.ca/lexus/experience/en/ho...V&year=2010 Think I'll just import one when the time comes...screw that! I been keeping my eyes on a used LS AWD as well. My budget is around $50000, I figure in another year or so, the 09 LS AWD should be around that price in the US.
  15. Ferrari falls off truck at Ernie Boch's dealership, I feel sorry for the poor guy who bought this Ferrari. According to the news, he had to wait 2 years for it and now this happens: http://www.boston.com/cars/newsandreviews/...uck_at_ern.html
  16. Nah, you dont want that MB GLK, its a piece of !Removed!. Go for the Audi Q5 or the redesign X3. Sorry to hear about your accident, now you have a good excuse to go out and buy a new SUV :)
  17. The redesign RX is in its 1st year of production, it has some minor quality issues. I would wait until 2011 to buy the RX if thats the car you want. On the other hand, the ES is into its 4th or 5th year of production. All the bugs have been worked out and they actaully made some improvements in the 2010 ES. AWD is not just for snow, it will improved traction in rain, gravel and sand. Of couse being in CA, its probably not worth the extra money since you will not use it enough.
  18. It’s funny you said they ride like the GS because I just sold my 08 GS350 in last year. The GS350 was one of the harshest car I have ever driven, except for my BMW 328i. The Genesis and the MKS somehow manage to ride smoother than the GS and yet handle about the same as the GS if not a bit better. I am not sure if it was the run-flat tires on the GS that made it so harsh and handles so badly, but the GS was a car did not impress with either smoothness or handling. I guess that’s why the GS is selling so badly.
  19. I believe the cars affected started using DBW in 02, thats the same time Toyota got rid of the brake/gas padel safety override.
  20. I thought the biggest improvement on the new 4runner was the extra headroom, of course the interior is nicer as well. I saw them both in the showroom but did not drive them so I cannot comment on their handling opr power, but I had a 05 GX470 and that SUV is not exactly a hot rod considering it has a V8. The new GX's interior kind of remind me of a Rover, very nicely done. The price has gone up quite a bit as well, the one I saw in the showroom was $64000. I bought my 05 GX for $45000, so that would make a increase of $5000 per model year. A little over-priced in my opinion.
  21. Of course it is a design problem, that is why Toyota have re-design the parts and plan to install the new re-design part on all the recalled cars.
  22. You do realized that the LS offer an AWD powertrain since 2009 right?
