  1. I am considering selling my car in order to accomplish other goals in my life at this point. My price is 25,000$ firm. Black on black. 5 speed. Heavily modified.
  2. I've never done it. I think mine is already blocked though when we bought it. Not sure how it works on a 97. go to www.mkiv.com and look around. There is step by step somewhere. Also on supraforums.
  3. Never got that close to the 430 but if it is anything like most any other lexus, you will have to do exactly what you mention. Then reach up in there and twist the plug and it should come out for you. Your owners manual might tell you how to do it. Not real difficult though. Just take your time.
  4. You should contact them at the site. I believe lead time is ten days but don't hold me to it. Definitely cheaper than the dealer and everyone who has done it, likes it. So I don't see why not. I haven't done it though.
  5. Wheel could be over torqued. Pads could be broken or uneven. Caliper could need a rebuild. You might have a fluid leak or not enough to begin with. I'd recommend a good brake job. Or pull the piston and rebuild it. Your call. Your brakes. I would do something soon though if braking distance is being sacrificed.
  6. There are two diagnostic ports. One on the engine side and one in the cabin on the lower driver side. There is most likely an open in the circuit used for diagnostic codes. It is really too difficult to tell you what to do. Pull the diagnostic ports and make sure all the wires and connected securely into the terminals. Get a multimeter and start checking continuity. The ecu could be screwed. Too hard to say though. I'd recommend getting the factory service manuals for the year vehicle of yours and going from there. Do a full tune up from the air filter back. New plugs, wires etc. One of your two ignition coils could be screwed. You might have a rotted out vacuum line. Who knows? The tilt motor gets dirty on the worm gear. You can remove the shroud and clean it, regrease it and it should work correctly again unless the motor is burned. The mirrors have their own little ecu. Could be anything from a fuse to a bad ground to a short or open somewhere. You could possibly fix these issues. Or try a good electrical shop. Troubleshooting the wiring harness does get expensive though especially if something needs to be replaced. It's your call. Sell or stick it out.
  7. It takes work to drive the ac. The load step is normal. You could pull the belt and check the ac clutch and pully if you think there is a problem.
  8. There isn't much you can do other than move to a place that does not have an incline. I don't pull into high inclines for that reason. Not without some way to raise the vehicle.
  9. No. The oem 2jz-ge and gte feature a thermostatic clutch off the water pump that drives one puller fan surrounded by a shroud off of the radiator.
  10. Hi Jennie, I was very shocked as well. It has been a couple weeks almost now. I know very little about the situation. I will send you an e-mail. SR did not creat this website, just for clarification. He did create several others though and was a part of this site in the beginning. As well as many other contributions to Info Tech. and web hosting as well as the automotive enthusiast web that do not go unrecognized... You can see all the information at SouthFloridaRacing.com... Here is a thread link Go to the 3 or 4 page. There are 15+ pages to the thread. There was a candle light vigil and service. I hope his family and fiance and fairing well... Regards, AJ
  11. Please see the faq. Lots of info and links. Go a few pages into it for the most info. Also search this forum.
  12. If it doesn't turn and the battery has juice, the starter solenoid is the problem. Check our search feature. Good luck.
  13. Don't know. I suppose it is possible it could if the seal is wore out. Only way to know is to do it. Perhaps a drain and fill every 15k until you have gone through all 16qts. is better.
  14. sc430 - no. Supra yes but they will require a complete supra swap. That is the entire Macpherson assy. Strut and spring perches and all. I'd recommend getting lowering springs for the SC400.
  15. I believe obdII was 1996. I'm not aware of any significant weight changes. Regarding obd on an engine swap - a motor 95 or older will be obdI and require the corresponding ecu. Likewise with the obdII motor. Best bet is to get the ecu with the motor. Obd conversions are possible but legality in certain states will present an issue. Florida is not one of them.
  16. Pre vvt-i GE internals are very strong. This ain't no honda. Cars have made 600 hp with only lowered compression. Running nitrous on top is what breaks it. I'd recommend fuel system research. That is more important. The stock GE can make 400hp at the wheels all day long.
  17. The backlights will need replacing and in the case of the needles, they will need a retrofit - Lextech Lighting Systems - hit google. Tell him I sent ya.
  18. I've never been that far into the door my friend. I would imagine that it is not too difficult if you take your time. there is a linkage associated with the drive mechanism. You need to locate the failure on that linkage and either get the replacement parts or devise some sort of method to repair it. Best of luck to you.
  19. ziggy, try a search on this, mate. I found the best way to deal with this is to drill several small holes with the smallest drill bit you can find. Locate them in areas that will be invisible from a normal perspective. You light will no longer hold condensation.
  20. Welcome! It's the sluhsbox auto. The torque converter is *BLEEP*. The best way I can tell you to get more "slam to the seat" feel is to consider a stall converter, raising the rpm engagement of the drive gear. Possibly a valve body rework of the tranny before this might give the feel you are looking for. That or a ecu reflash... Money.
  21. The dimming issue is solved with capacitors... Go to a high end stereo shop and get advice at least in person... There are a mutltitude of ground wires all over, chassis, auxiliary, engine, and battery.
  22. I'd like to take a moment to express my condolences for the loss of a fellow turbo and automobile enthusiast... Steven Reed a.k.a. CmputerWiz on many internet forums was a definite presence and moving force on many fronts. I came across him first in 2001 when we both frequented an ezboard forum set. He was the founder of Ricecop as well as driving force with a certain competing website. Other credits are South Florida Racing . com, Lexustuner.com, NSXprime and expansive internet webhosting service for various internet companies and services. At 26, Steve accomplished things most of us dream of. His turbo SC3 was what first caught my attention and provoked me to research the idea wich led to where I am today. Of course, there were many other examples to get inspiration from as well, but that car was the first for my experience. Very informational items on the web written by him were found and I still have many on file here at home. Steven was able to amass an impressive collection of vehicles and experiences that would fill most others lifetime. A very impressive individual. I had steered away from Ricecop and hadn't seen his handle around much over the past year, but I'm still very saddened at this news. CmputerWiz was also involved with this site for a short time. I would like for all to take a moment to ponder the things we take for granted and recognize the contributions that have been made by him and others. SR - you will be missed by many... ... until we meet again, go in peace.
