  1. Sorry, bro. Welcome to the boards and I hope someone has more info for you. I always get the sale car audio deals. I just can't rationalize the high $$$ for the sound equipment in the car. I prefer to put the money into the go fast goodies. Don't get me wrong, the high end stuff is great. There are some Diamond Audio 6" mids and tweets in the SC. But just a JVC head and some sony bass I had laying around. Maybe after some other things are done, I can mark some dough for the high price tunes.
  2. It is a 91. I might guess that the gasket could be part of a seal in the duct work that had come out and as a result the cold air does not make it through all of the ducting. Just a guess. You would need the diagram of the ducting and seals and the ability to get at the area in question. That is pricey for that kind of work. If you like the car find a cheaper place to fix it. Otherwise, move on if you must. How much do you want for it?
  3. You can usually hear them clicking over time. Some cars recommend 60,000 miles others 80,000. I do mine when I notice them clicking a little more than usual. It is good to adjust the lash. It is possible to go 100,000 miles but I would do it then at least. It is good to have everthing nice and flush in the valvetrain.
  4. Injen makes an intake. Your best bet for the dollar is to remove the snorkel type device and increase the opening in your stock airbox. http://www.injen.com/ http://www.users.bigpond.com/pgscott/ http://www.optionsauto.com/ http://www.gtrowner.com/induction.html
  5. Tisk, tisk. While there are some minor and rather trivial issues that pop up on older, higher mileage lexus models; they run strong and have minimal major issues. They are still very reliable. I would take an equivalent mileage/condition lexus before just about any other used vehicle. At 104,663 miles this baby has not missed a lick, aside from a dirty starter soleneid, and the trivial speedo light, panel wear that comes with an vehicle that has been used.
  6. Of course. Unless your hauling a half stack or a stand up bass. Or your trunk is full of subs.
  7. Yes, we all have this trouble. You can try dimming the intensity on your display. But I suspect the damage is done. There are some creative solutions that have been tried but I might recommend searching for a used display or maybe you can find a needle somewhere. I'll check up on this myself as my tach needle is fading too. It is not #1 on my things to do list though. Supra brakes soon. Will post pics.
  8. She has a APEXi SAFC, non-working a/f gauge (need to trouble shoot), conical intake filter and adapter - the wheels 18" enkei rs6 with kuhmo ecsta supras - I forget the size. Can't wait for the turbo - but I need to be sure.

  10. Rest your heart. You are possibly getting too much fuel at the point that trouble occurs. It could be a bad sensor reading but similar issues have been found with the fuel pump computer or ecu. Good luck and let us know how it turns out. :D
  11. Been reading a lot and find I'm leaning more towards a company called Toyomoto and their product. More to come. www.i-m-racing.com www.toyomoto.com A couple of sites.
  12. Congratulations and welcome. I haven't seen much for the 430. Do searches. You can always throw some HRE wheels for starters. You can call here - http://www.i-m-racing.com/lexussc300400.html

  15. I've been looking around at turbo kits. Always loved the things but never owned a turbo vehicle. I myself was looking for a car that came turbo stock as I had played with the honda's and determined they were not worth turbo for the potential. So I was waiting for Mitsu to release the Evo in the U.S. when I stumbled across a sweet sc300 in the area. Looked around and found aftermarket support and the close relationship with the supra and decided to buy. Now for the turbo. I'm not a deviant when it comes to cars but there are many more that know the intricacies of tuning and performance to the T. So naturally, I found myself drowned in turbo system tech stuff. I'm still buried but ready to go. So there is this Toyomoto group and the F-max that are fairly readily available. I've also seen some other options - buy wiz's already turboed - no, just bought my own have seen a used kit - but hard to get a hold of the seller and I've had bad experiences with "used" parts So dive into the savings for an F-max set-up is the line I'm taking. There is all the arguments - they can begin here. The f-max kit seems complete and it is cheaper - though I could look around more. There is only one company that sells the toyomoto kit and that's toyomoto so I figure that ends any price wars for "new" parts. I've heard toyomoto service is stellar. Decisions. I need an exhaust manifold, intercooler, various components for turbo's - oil relocation kit, blow off valve(s), tubing, the turbo. Control items, ecu modification/ aem - looks real cool, apexi stuff, boost controller, turbo timer, and stuff. Exhaust - downpipe, and then what - custom 3" to a cat back system - hell, pull the cats while I'm down there. How much boost to run? What kind of tuning? Here goes nothing. I'm moving this month so I'll wait till I'm situated before I go with the turbo. Stay tuned.
  16. http://209.125.175.29/lexusstereo.html I think that should help.
  17. When I bought the sc the previous owner had wired the stock tweets and door speakers to a jvc head, ran two 6.5 diamond audio in the rear panels at the rear seat bottom. It was decent. The rear deck is empty. I stripped the trunk and noticed much dynamat. Pulled the seat bottom and found the cabin floor is covered with foam - hmm. I threw the two sony tens in an enclosed box w/ sony 700w amp in the trunk. Those speakers don't sound that great in my accord I pulled them from but, sound excellent in that lex. Unreal. I'll try to find the link for the stereo hack, but I may just have the sc300. Hang on.
  18. Haven't raced anyone yet. Too much trouble now for me. I may time it w/ s-afc, cone filter, fans, and clutch at the 8th friday. I'll post my times - hopefully reaction will be better than last time(didn't have the sc).
  19. I would have bought it if I didn't have my current 93 SC 5spd. I picked it up before I knew yours was on the market. Can't afford it at that price, still paying for this one. I would be interested if you ever part it out though. I would have posted pics for the show but there was really nothing to take pictures of. :? I put some pics of the ride up in the galleries. Got plans baby.

  22. Direct from the 1993 Lexus Dealer Sport Coupe Brochure "Don't let the fact that the SC300 has only six cylinders fool you.
