  1. Lucky we have a good sources for Lexus parts. But sometimes we have to go to is the dealership for certain parts. My buddy work at the parts department and You won't believe how much they marked them up. By low sell high , that is the name of the game. JPI
  2. 200 shot of NAS will do the trick. ;) JPI
  3. I don't know which dealer you prefer to, there are lexus tech outhere that are still clueless. To test the a/f sensor and the cat converter is very simple if you have the right tool. You can also check the a/f sensor by using a volt meter and ohms it out. Not all tech are the same and please don't bash them. I never see 2 sensor goes out at the same time. Know how to test them is the key. And don't assume cleaning out the injectors will clear the check engine light. JPI
  4. Talked to the lexus engineer last week. He didn't answer all the questions that I asked him. He keep saying your customers should change their oil every 5k miles. He didn't get into the oil circulation. Well I wasted my 3hrs eating dinner with him but I did learn some new stuffs though. It's always good to have an inside connection ;) . lexusfreak where are you going? JPI
  5. Lexie, You are writting a book here. Good information provided though. But you didn't answer his question. If the A/C system running properly then you don't need to check for oil level and you can't tell if the system is low on oil. When you replace an A/C components you will need to add 2-3oz of oil. The new A/c compressor already comes with the oil. You can't mix R12 and R134a oil together, they will destroy the compressor in a matter or weeks. JPI
  6. I still don't get it. If the diff is fried, your tranny doesn't work at all. But whatever they say. Wish you best of luck. JPI
  7. i would go ahead and check the fan. And also the power steering fluid. The power steering pump drives the fan. JPI
  8. Are you doing the work yourself? don't forget to replace the valve seals while you are there also a new timingbelt won't hurt. JPI
  9. 20hrs for this kind of job... You are kidding me right? It probably take a day for a good tech. Oh well, at least he fixed your problem. JPI
  10. I would take a ruler and measure it. I've seen some stuck lifters. JPI
  11. So you turn the crank the and lifter won't come back up? Did you try to put some oil to lubricate the lifter? The clearance between the lifter and the hole is very very tight. I would put some oil and turn the crank to see if it come up. Keep me updated. JPI
  12. You need to pop the valve cover off and check to see what is the condition. Ask if they run a compression test. It would be wise to change all the seals when the engine is out. JPI
  13. Hey guys, I"m still here. Sorry I was a little upset but I'm here to help people. If you have any datas that will help us learn more about this V6 engine let me know. I'm very open and like to learn too. I'm working a write up. Will keep you guys updated. Also meeting up with the lexus engineer next week. We will see what he has to say . JPI
  14. Glen, Who did the engine work? What did they replaced? This is a 3VZ engine. As a matter of fact, We are swap out an engine on the ES300 right now. Give me a call if you need anything. We are located in the garland area. JPI
  15. Here are points I need to make: 1) Would lexus put something like this on the service manual "If you don't change your oil every 5k, Your engine will develop sludge". 2) I think i;m qualify for this job. If you didn't know by now. I'm a lexus master tech, ASE master. 3) What is your point? 4) If you need to start another discussion on how long you should change the oil, Please start another post. 5) Moderators. Please lock this post because I don't think it's getting anywhere. 6) I don't have time to sit on here and argue. I'm here to inform people and help them as much as I can. 7) The V6 won't get any better. Just talk to my buddy at another dealership and he has a es330 with a sluge problem. 8) Is this toyota fault? People don't change their oil every 5k doesn't deserve to drive a lexus. 9) I will have an appointment with a lexus engineer nextweek And I will bring this up. 10) Just wondering, What do you know about this V6 engine? 11) I WILL END MY POST HERE. JPI
  16. WE can sit here and talk about the technical stuffs all day... The bottom line is...Change your oil between 3-5k miles I've done at least 2 of the engine sludge a week. And I've been doing this for 7 years. Change your oil at 7.5k or 8k miles if you want but You are taking a big risk. Changing oil is not wasting your time, it's call taking care of your car. Have fun guys. I'm going back to work. JPI
  17. You don't need to adjust anything. The only thing you need to adjust is your wallet ;) JPI
  18. 7.5k miles? I think you are pushing it. Sludge does take a while for it to built up. For the sake of the V6 engine, Please change your oil between 3k-5k. Forgot to mention, I had client came in with a rx300 45k miles. The engine is locking up, he changes his oil every 8k miles with Mobile 1. For those of you who think Mobil 1 will protect your engine, you need to think again! JPI
  19. If your oil pressure light comes on your engine won't last that long. You can't flush the sludge out, it will clogged up the oil pump and then no more oil pressure. We didn't pull the head off the last sludge job we did and it comes back on the tow truck. We are putting in a new engine now. The properly way to clean the sludge off is to pull the heads off, clean them. Pull the oil pan off and clean it. Replace your oil pump and oil strainer. This is a $2000 job or more. Good luck. JPI
  20. Please check your email. JPI
  21. Have them check out at your local lexus dealer. If your rear brakes are warped you will fell the vibration in the rear when applying brakes. I doubt it though. Good luck. JPI
  22. Do you keep up with all the service? The transmission fluids need to flush out every 15k like swo3 said. Do you have aftermarket warr? JPI
  23. Well I have a lexus/toyota repair shop in the dallas area. I used to work at PP lexus in plano for 7 years. ASE master, Lexus master and very familiar with the aftermarket side. We use Lexus scan tool, books, parts, tools etc...... And our price is a lot lower than the local lexus around here. I'm sure there are a couple of lexus Independent shop your area. Come by check out the place, talk to the owner and see what kind of work they do. Look on the wall, check fo certification. Are they a member of BBB? Walk around the shop. Is it clean? What kind of equiments do they use? There are many shop outhere says they know their lexus but i don't think they do. They work on all kind of cars. Anyway, those are the ideas. And I wouldn't go to toyota dealer, toyota tech aren't trained like Lexus Tech. You can walk off the street and become a toyota tech. Not at lexus....They screen you and hired the best techs outhere to work on lexus. Good luck. JPI
  24. If you can give us the info. Any Check engine light? You keep saying the car run like won't help any at all. JPI
