  4. My mileage calculations are usually about 1 MPG higher than the computer on a tank to tank basis.

  8. Not sure what part you're having trouble with but here goes. Look at the attached diagram. You need to unfasten the large round gray plastic cover by turning counter clockwise just a few degrees and it should pop loose. (ribbed circle on the left of the diagram) You should see a black rubber O ring inside. Set that part aside. Inside you should see a large silver plug with a shielded braided wire. Just pull this plug and you should be looking at the back of the bulb. The bulb is held in place by a wire clip. Squeeze this clip till it comes loose and let it swing away. At this point you should be able to just pull the bulb out from the back. IS300_Headligh_adjustment..pdf
  9. 4.10 would probably be a good 1/4 mile setup. I don't know if you could just make a straight punkin swap, but it's worth looking at.

  11. Correction: H11 is 55W. A 65W bulb is not going to overload the wiring, I am running with a 65W bulb for years (audi a4). That would be only possible with a much higher, say 100W bulb. I wouldn't do it, nor would I recommend it.

  14. I looked up those H9 bulbs and they are 65 watts. The H11 are 45 watts. I'd steer clear of the H9 as the wiring would probably fail sooner or later at that wattage. We've seen wiring failures on other cars that went to higher wattage bulbs.
  15. Black smoke would indicate that it's running rich. Has your gas mileage dropped a significant amount? Not sure about injector seals as it could be caused by other things. I'd suggest having it checked out by the dealer or a good shop. They should be able to pinpoint the problem fairly easily.
  16. There are H11 HID kits on the market. Some people have had good luck with Mtech. Usually it's best to get the kit with integrated ignitor and ballast because there's not much room to locate them in the engine compartmant. Also, 2007 models can be ordered with HID as a single option. The auto trans could get better highway mileage if the rear axle ratio is different, thus running fewer RPM per mile. Sport suspension lowers a little less than 1/2 inch. Some performance mods are available, mostly intake and exhaust. The cars were totally new just last year and it takes the aftermarket some time to catch up. This has nothing to do with Lexus, as they aren't in the aftermarket mod business. With an IS350 you're already getting a very well performing car, so unless you just want to make it louder, there's really no compelling reason for trying to "improve". The previous generation, IS300 was more mod friendly, although there really wasn't much available early on. But since the motor is so similar to the Supra, people figured out how to turbo it to anywhere from 300 to 700 HP and more. Even the most fanatic performance people will tell you that with that car, turbo is really the only way to make significant power.
  17. All weather tires must not be like they used to be. One winter in Ohio, I had a Mustang with Goodyear Tiempo's on it and could go anywhere I wanted to go in the snow. I think they must have compromised all weathers more towards dry performance and wet, with not much toward snow traction. People with Blizzaks report great performance in serious snow weather. Of course, some tires are more snow and ice oriented than others, but appears these cars will go in snow with the right tires.

  21. will the MTEC installation void the factory warranty? Also, have you heard of any focus issues due to the lenses being made for the halogen bulbs? The only part of any warranty that might be voided would be the actual wiring, relays etc. As long as the HID kit is the same wattage as OEM, there should be no problems. One could always put the lights back to stock if there was a problem. I don't think the lenses are any different since they are already projectors, and that's the preferred setup for HID. The guys I know that have made the conversion are quite happy with it.

  25. Acceleration of gravity is 9.81 meters/second/second. Not considering drag, the falling car would accelerate until it reached terminal velocity. The car on the ground is already moving at (probably top speed) when it crosses the zero line on it's way to the 4000 foot run. One would need to caclulate the "air time" of the falling car, then how long would it take the ground car to cover the 4000 feet at top speed. But anyway, the drop part of the commercial is simulated so it really doesn't matter.
