  1. Yes, this is a very good thing to know!!! Believe it or not, people were actually asking if the light went out when you close the lid. :D
  2. First thing would be to drop about an inch, use Eibach springs or coilovers. After that, some custom wheel. Once you know how it looks with those mods, go with a body kit. What you put on it would be mostly a matter of personal taste. For speed you can go wit intake, header and exhaust, but it's not going to give you all that much power increase. If you really want to go fast, save your money and go turbo later on.
  3. We resolved some related issues on another message board. One of the senior moderators locked himself in the trunk and determined the following: The light goes out when the trunk is closed. The hostage release handle glows brightly in the dark. He was able to open the trunk by pulling the release handle.
  4. Kids steal emblems. The ones that are popular vary from time to time. They used to like H honda emblems.
  5. It's unlikely that the perp would have the perfect timing to do this. As for distance from the fob, it's only a few feet. You can test that by leaving the ignition in acc and walk slowly away while watching the dash. The screen will light up and say "key not detected" when you're out of range.
  6. I've had mine for a year and a half now and no issued worth complaining about.
  7. I learned something too. I had the ignition button in acc position, got out of the car with fob in pocket, walked around and tried to open passenger door and it would not unlock itself.
  8. I took from the suggested maintenance items and made a list and gave it to my mechanic at a local tire shop. I made sure he got all the fluids from Toyota as specified.. He did the inspection, changed the brake fluid and coolant and signed off on the list. I paid him about $80. The point is, that you have proof that the work was done, and that approved fluid and/or parts were used, you're ok. It does not have to be done by Lexus. I get my oil changed on a regular basis and buy the filters from Irontoad. I just get that done at a locally owned quick oil change place. All of the above should satisfy Lexus' service schedule. PS. The reason for the brake fluid change is that moisture can get into it and cause problems later on. As for coolant, the corrosion inhibitors and water pump lubricants can break down over time. It's much cheaper to change these out on schedule than to have to replace damaged parts later on.
  9. Not normal. Might be a problem with the drive by wire pot on the throttle body.
  10. I'm not sure if anyone has found the workaround for the O7 models. In fact, people with 06 who have updated to the new disk are having the same problem.
  11. That seems to be a common problem. Some have been fixed by dealers who replaced parts or the entire mirror assembly. Heres the W/O from one repair.
  12. They're free at the dealer if you want em. I know one guy who's done it and he says the braking is just as good, and pedal feel is better, firmer. He does autocross so I reckon he knows how they perform.
  13. Brake dust? They'll replace your front pads with ceramics if you complain to the dealer.
  14. It appears that you've narrowed it down to two criteria. Which is more important to you? Much of that might depend on how and where you drive and how long you expect to keep the car. Feel free to browse the forums, do some searching and reading. There are plenty of comments and views posted here.
  15. Not true. Especially on 2006 models where HID only came with the high end option packages. For 2007, HID is available by itself, but has to be specified on order. I'd guess half the 2nd generation IS don't have HID.
  16. How often are you chaning the oil? As long as you use an approved oil, and keep the receipts, then your warranty is ok. I get the filters from Irontoad online. It's a cartridge filter that goes into a canister that's attatched to the lower front part of the engine. If you take a light and look straight down behind the radiator at the front of the motor, you'll see a silver canister. That's the oil filter. Here are some LOC threads related to the noise, and to oil filter etc that can be found using the search feature. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...lite=oil+filter
  17. Swirls or scratches on the mirrors is not common. This is the first I've heard of it. They should probably replace them. The only place inside the door areas that I have to clean is the curved painted part where the door closes. I get a little bit of film there but nothing unusual. It's the part near the edges of the seats. I use Lexol vinyl and rubber conditioner twice a year on all the rubber seals on the car including the door seals, trunk seals, and around the hood opening. That's mainly to just keep them from drying out.
  18. Pictures are for viewing, eh? :D
  19. http://my.is/forums/showthread.php?t=25569...ng+brake+rotors This is the entire brake R&R with pics. To pop the rotors loose you screw a 12 mm bolt into one of the 2 threaded holes and slowly turn it to push the rotor loose. (Step 9)
  20. I'd suggest searching www.autotrader.com within a comfortable distance from where you live. At least you'll get a good idea of asking prices.
