  1. plenty of wear left on my front pads at 55K! I think anyways. Looking at the new pads, they taper so that the older the pads get, the more surface contacts the rotor. on my old pads, there is about 1/4 inch of pad left, but no taper left. anyways I was having a hard time getting the pad off, in fact i gave up on it. once the caliper is rotated up, should the pad slide out? or do you take the clips off first? i could get it to slide almost out before it got stuck. i just did not want to break anything. any advice? BRAKE -FRONT BRAKE PAD BR1JT-01 W00742 W00743 F12332 Direction of disc rotation for for- ward movement REPLACEMENT 1. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL 2. INSPECT PAD LINING THICKNESS Check the pad thickness through the caliper inspection hole and replace the pads if they are not within the specification. Minimum thickness: 1.0 mm (0.039 in.) 3. LIFT UP CALIPER (a) Hold the sliding pin on the bottom and loosen the installation bolt. (B) Remove the installation bolt. © Lift up the caliper and suspend it securely. HINT: Do not disconnect the flexible hose from the caliper. 4. REMOVE 2 ANTI- SQUEAL SPRINGS 5. REMOVE 2 BRAKE PADS WITH 4 ANTI-SQUEAL SHIMS 6. REMOVE 4 PAD SUPPORT PLATES NOTICE: The anti-squeal springs and support plates can be used again provided that they have sufficient rebound, no deformation, cracks or wear, and have had all rust, dirt and foreign particles cleaned off. 7. CHECK DISC THICKNESS AND RUNOUT (See page BR-29 ) 8. INSTALL 4 PAD SUPPORT PLATES 9. INSTALL NEW PADS NOTICE: When replacing worn pads, the anti-squeal shims must be replaced together with the pad. (a) Apply disc brake grease to both sides of each inner anti- squeal shims (See page BR-23 ). (B) Install the 2 anti-squeal shims to each pad. HINT: Make sure the arrows on the inner anti-squeal shims facing to the direction of disc rotation as shown in the illustration. 2005 LEXUS IS300 (RM1140U) Author: Date: 1826 BR-25 BRAKE -FRONT BRAKE PAD W00744 © Install the inner pad with the pad wear indicator plates facing downward. (d) Install the outer pad. NOTICE: There should be no oil or grease adhering to the friction surfaces of the pads or the disc. (e) Install the 2 anti-squeal springs. 10. INSTALL CALIPER (a) Draw out a small amount of brake fluid from the reservoir. (B) Press in the pistons with a hammer handle or similar implement. HINT: If the pistons are difficult to push in, loosen the bleeder plug and push in the pistons while letting some brake fluid escape. © Install the caliper. (d) Hold the sliding pin and torque the installation bolt. Torque: 34 N·m (350 kgf·cm, 25 ft·lbf) 11. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL Torque: 103 N·m (1,050 kgf·cm, 76 ft·lbf) 12. DEPRESS BRAKE PEDAL SEVERAL TIMES 13. CHECK THAT FLUID LEVEL IS AT MAX LINE 2005 LEXUS IS300 (RM1140U)
  2. I never reach the mileage so I change based on time. I'd go with the every 6 months.
  3. Eibachs are good. Pro kit is a good way to lower the car and improve handling along with the sways. The do a good job without being totally radical and they still give a good ride.
  4. You can put in for a quote at Sewell Lexus. That's where I got my headlight gaskets.
  5. I got a Toyota/Lexus filter from Irontoad. It was three layers with a layer of activated charcoal.
  6. There are no chips and there aren't presently any ways to make the 350 really faster.
  7. I couldn't find a battery locally so I got one off Amazon. There are plenty good deals if you search the internets.

  12. No one can tell what it is until you get the codes read.
  13. Could be low on refrigerant. Gurgling can also be low coolant or air in the cooling system.
  14. Mine lasted almost 3 years. The car started telling me when it was getting low.
  15. I had Eagle All Seasons on my Firebird. I got caught in snow a few times in Ohio and they did great.
  16. Replacing the O2 sensor will probably fix it. Need to know exactly which on though. Then we can look up a "how to".
  17. Use the internet resources. Based on your zip code they'll tell you what the fair prices are. Or use the invoice price and try to make the best deal you can. There may not be any new 08's left so you'll probably have to get a 09 if you want a new car. Check out some dealerships in your area and contact the internet sales manager. That's usually your best deal.

  20. I've driven 500 - 600 miles in a day and not had back problems. And I'm old.
