  1. Shouldn't be a problem. I drove with different front and rears for quite a while.
  2. Maybe I don't get it. I don't have a problem. How steep and how long are the hills? I can go from here to Ohio through KY and TN mountains on cruise and if nobody gets in the way, never kick it off and have a very smooth ride. If I am on a regular road and have go stop at a light, I can hit resume at 20 mph and get smooth and acceptable acceleration back to highway speed. I once was passed by a truck going down the south side of a mountain. He was doing 90. I set my cruise at 90 and it maintained for me at a safe distance for several miles all the way into the valley. Underpowered cars will, of course, downshift sooner on lesser hills as it tries to maintain set speed. That's how it works and what it tries to do. A CRV for instance will downshift as soon as it sees the slightest hill. You can see the speedo drop and in some cases it may never even recover speed depending on setpoint and the hill it's on. Of course it's not recommended to use cruise on really steep curvy roads, wet hilly roads, and ice and snow ought to be obvious not to use to any driver with half a lick of sense.
  3. When is the 2010 model going to be available? If you order one, it can take 3 to 6 months to get it anyway. Do you just call dealers until you get the answer you were looking for? Is it really a good idea to spread rumors on a message board? I'm not sure. I think I'll hang up on this thread. Good luck.
  4. I don't know that I am sure they are non-directional, but I looked at them carefully and there is no arrow or any other indication on the sidewall that they need to rotate in one direction. Plus the tread does not look to my admittedly unskillled eye like it is directional. And the manual literally says not to rotate "2WD models with 18-inch or directional 17-inch tires." I am a pretty tame driver. How many miles should I expect to get on these tires? My Dunlop Maxi's had about half tread left when I took them off the front at about 12,000 miles. I'd guess you might get 20,000 plus miles. The OEM tires were usually made to be sticky and hence a softer rubber compound that wears faster. As for directional, they should show a definite non 90 degree angle to the tread pattern and shoulder sipes for wet weather water squishing. Turning those around is also going to make them tend to hydroplane more. You can, however have them dismounted and remounted, switch car sides and keep them rotating the same direction as they have been. If you need balance or alignment that's a good time to do it. It's just that I haven't seen or heard of any non directional OEM performance tires, not that they don't exist.
  5. First, are you sure you have non directional tires? Second, after reversing direction radials will be squirrely for a few hundred miles and reversing the set may cause more wear than you saved by the rotation. Rotation won't correct any noticeable wear problems so it's really probably not worth the effort.
  6. There's no noticeable performance difference unless you are driving balls out on a track or curvy road. Daily and even extra spirited driving won't make any difference at all because you aren't using the full capacity of the brakes anyway and you won't be overheating them.
  7. You won't notice any difference in sound in routine driving, and very little at WOT.

  9. I never let them wash mine. One never knows what one of those yard bird guys is gonna do to their car.
  10. Several of the strut bars don't work well on IS300's. If they are tall enough to clear the engine covers, they rub on the hood. If they don't rub on the hood, they usually won't clear the engine cover. I hadn't heard of any that didn't clear the throttle body. Sounds like yours might fit if you do what Smooth suggested.
  11. Yeah, like it's not impossible for them to grab the wrong parts.
  12. For what it's worth does answer the question about the car in the photos. If you know how to read properly you'd know I'm asking whether Canadian models come with the parking sensors as an option or in a package It's pretty clear that I already know the car in the photo comes with them. How is that clear? You asked about parking sensors and posted pics of a car with what you deemed a question circled in the pics. I read what you wrote and you asked about the car in the pic as part of your post. Now settle down and don't get too overly excited here, it's just a car message board and not a gamut for you to run through or take offense at every little whip stitch in everyone's replies. I strongly suggest you take whats useful to you from the posts and forget the rest.
  13. That's like throwing the baby out with the bathwater.
  14. The OP said he had dust problems after having the TSB done. Myself and many others report very little dust with the replacement pads. But then I am a very smooth and anticipatory driver so YMMV.

  16. Check your invoice part numbers against the TSB part numbers.

  19. Goof off, Goo gone, soak it good. There may be some rigorous finger nail work involoved, and maybe after all that some cleaner wax to finish getting that last little bit.
  20. I can't see the center dash stuff in bright sunlight but it's not very often that I need to see it to do anything. I've noticed the same thing in several cars I've owned.
  21. No, but probably one of a few who tries to read an unfolded map while driving.
  22. Yes it is. You can get it from Irontoad for about half the price as from the Lexus dealers. Another Q Bartkat: I never turn on the cabin recirculation button thingy. Should I still need to replace the filter in the glovebox or is there a separate filter for the A/C. Thanks. If you run the A/C on auto, then sometimes it's on recirc anyway. Best thing to do is pull the filter and look at it to see if it's dirty or clogged.

  24. I bought my 02 IS300 used from a Toyota dealer and also got the platinum warranty. I don't think there's any problem with who sells it. Lexus honored it.
