  1. Sounds like trac is kicing in for some reason. That can happen if one rear wheel drops in a low spot or hole and momentarily loses traction. If it comes right back running ok within seconds or when you let off the gas then it's really not a malfunction.
  2. Try these guys. If it isn't listed, the fill out their ask for a quote form. They are pretty helpful. http://www.sewellpartsonline.com/
  3. Mostly all I know is that if you unplug the box the daytime lights don't light. If you jumper the plug, then the lights run but brighter. I'm sure there is a circuit tied in to the ignition because the lights come on when you start the engine. Also when the headlights are on, the daytime lights go out.
  4. The DRL system wouldn't fire up HID bulbs. They run on low power reduced by the resistor in the pics that I linked. It's your normal high beams running on low power. I don't think you'd want your high beams as HID running full power in the daytime. That would probably even be illegal. You could, however maybe put in some hyper white bulbs to make the DRL's a little less yellow. Hey guys!!! My car is a 2002 IS200. Built in GB for the european market with xenon headlamps. Im also interested in these daytime running lights and im looking for these function. Does anybody know how to "unlock" ist? Do i need this small black box?? thx greetings from germany What exactly do you want to do?
  5. You definitely have a problem but it's hard to say why. I know that when I first tried checking my oil and shoved the dipstick all the way in, it appeared to have too much oil. I even tried swabbing out the tube and that didn't help. Then I started just pushing the dipstick just down to the crown and I started getting good readings. Why your car was/is using or losing oil is the big question. Years ago it was common for a car to use one quart per thousand miles, but that's long gone now. Any cars I've had since even before 1990 never showed any oil use at all. Did you actually go the 15,000 mile oil change route in the beginning? People do it, bit I've always been a bit leery of that, no matter what kind of oil is used.
  6. Yes it appears to be. I did a search of my name the thread did not appear. Was it deleted? No it was not deleted. I searched your name for your threads started and it popped right up with about 4 other threads. Please stop insinuating that your threads might have been deleted. It casts dispersions on the mods and makes us somewhat unhappy. Please accept my apology. As I said I did a search and the thread did not appear. What am I supposed to think? Also in my post I said "I think" it was deleted. I did another search right now and the thread still does not appear. Here is the link. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/search.php?c...p;sa=Search#999 Aplogy accepted. I'm not going to belabor this but the "this post may meet the same fate" suggests otherwise. At least that's the way I read it. We had a guy come in here accusing us all of working for the "dealer". We proved him wrong, but he never did accept responsibility or aplogize. The new search feature leaves much to be desired as it's impossible to just search one forum, ie IS252/350 for instance. To search for your own threads, do it from your profile or click on your name and then click member's topics. That's what I did. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...ult_type=topics

  8. Air filters are pretty much a matter of personal preference. I've run K&N, TRD, and Blitz. Currently using Blitz in the FSport inatke. Cleaning and oiling a filter doesn't take much time and doesn't need to be done very often. As of now though I prefer the dry filter such as the Blitz. Any of the high flow filter work well with a JoeZ intake pipe and have been dynoed at +5 or so hp gains.

  10. Once you have the plastic cover off it's easy to see how to unplug and remove the bulb. I don't have pics but it's pretty straight forward. Putting in a new HID bulb requires 4 things. 1. Open up the back of the headlight by unscrewing the white/gray cap. 2. Turn the connector on the back of the bulb counter clockwise to release it 3. Unclip and remove bulb. 4. Put new bulb in and work backwards.
  11. This is confusing to me too. I think all IS300 low beams are HID. A D2R bulb at the dealer is gonna be over $200. I used to get them off Ebay for maybe $60 to $100. If when you turn on your headlights the flash and then run blue for a few seconds then they are for sure HID. Halogen bulbs start right up at their normal more yellowish color.
  12. Make sure you don't touch the glass on the new bulb with bare fingers. Just rotate the little gray door a few degrees and it will pop right out. Pull out and unplug the braided wire. The bulb is held in by two wire clips. Pop the clips loose.. Make sure you are getting a D2R xenon HID bulb at about 4300 K color temperature. Make sure the rubber O ring is lined up when you replace the gray cover.
  13. I don't see transmission fluid on the list. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...ost&id=3791
  14. The only thing I had Lexus do on that service was to flush and fill the brake fluid. Cost about $80. The oil change, engine and cabin filters, you or almost anyone else can do. I get the genuine filters from irontoad.com

  16. There are entire threads here about what we like or don't like about our IS. Please try the search feature.
  17. I've noticed how quiet they are too, but I usually watch the lights. If you use the lane change feature the signal will cancel when you let go of the stalk. On most actual turns the signals should self cancel anyway.
  18. I, for one, would like to hear. Some of our area managers went down to UA for a week of training. One of the guys, I'll call him Joe, went one evening to get gas in his SUV. When he came out of the shop to leave he pushed the remote button which unlocked all doors. As he got in a guy with a pistol jumped in the passenger side and told Joe where to drive. They drove around for awhile and finally on some back road the guy told Joe to pull over and let him out. I guess they found the vehicle later and don't know if they ever found the perp. Joe has told me the story first hand and it sounds really scary. That's why my remote and door handle only open the driver's door and why when I put my car in park the doors stay locked till I open them myself.
  19. JDM = Japanese Domestic Market. In this case it would be Altezza vs IS300 in the US. We joke a lot about people buying JDM parts at extra high prices just so they can say it's JDM. Some even try to duplicate the Altezza but that's almost impossible since the real Altezza is right hand drive and has a different motor.
  20. Is it time for me to tell my carjacker horror story re unlocking all doors at one time again?
