  1. Never heard that sound or heard of it being considered as "loose motor". I use Mobil 1 synthetic oil in my IS350.
  2. More on specific topic, it's not going to happen. They can toss it around all they want.
  3. School administrations are not cost-effective or efficient in many parts of northern CA.
  4. Nice outcome on the accident/situation. The JGC is a winner, I've driven the new V6 and like it very much.
  5. Read my new post re: JD Powers. Now Number One. Yes, I saw that, job well done by Lexus.
  6. Lexus slippage ended recently per JD Powers.
  7. I guess a better word would be enclosed brake fluid and power steering system instead of sealed I guess. I was just trying to point out unless there was a leak then the fluids should not get dirty. Now if you say it needs to be freshened then again why does Ford have no such requirements on their Trucks? I still can't figure that out. I kind of had the same question. My 4th gen Ford Explorer doesn't require any brake fluid change for years (over 60K miles). Lexus IS350 has brake fluid changes scheduled every 3 years/30K miles.
  8. Tragic situation with less than competent driver operating the vehicle in a very stressful situation (incorrectly installed floor mat jammed accelerator). And now NASA has helped in the work to determine electronic interference wasn't an issue. As of today, numerous safeguards have been implemented via production changes and recalls to older cars. My 07 IS350 was subject to those recall fixes.
  9. Well done Lexus, it comes as no surprise to me. Based on my Lexus ownership experience (versus current and recent MB, Ford, GM, and Jeep vehicles), Lexus is doing well with quality. Also improvements at Mercedes in past few years are showing well on this chart.
  10. Nothing of significance needs to be done during 10K service other than oil and filter change. (They cannot rotate staggered tires on RWD IS250). Just tell them (Lexus dealer) you want a Mobil 1 synthetic oil change (expect to pay about $119) and you will be good for another 10K miles. First major service is at 30K miles, which is closer to $550. More to the point of your question, the $45 (20%)savings from independent is about what I would expect, since this is a minor service. On a more major service savings should be closer to 25% to 30%.
  11. My neighborhood is in the hills near a country club. Benz's are as common as Camry's, the "peoples car" here.
  12. I forgot what the topic was.... Oh yes, price of gas. Since most of us have a Lexus with premium being recommended, Chevron premium this morning was $4.05 in San Jose.
  13. It's for geezer's like me. What do you recomend for those under 90? LOC, lexitup!
  14. Yes, all you have to do is complain about "excessive front brake dust" and they will replace the front pads for free with improved pads. I did this in 2009 and have had excellent results with the revised pads. L-BR002-06 low brake dust TSB.pdf
  15. AOL is as good as dead, lol.
  16. Today went in for annual oil change at Lexus dealer (Mobil 1 synthetic) and they will also do value spring and fuel pressure sensor recall work. I have a new ES350 loaner since they will probably keep car overnight.
  17. Welcome and enjoy working at the Lexus dealership.
  18. I do like the IS-F and drove one last summer. But as nice as the experience was, I can't justify swapping IS350.
  19. Welcome to LOC. Summer in Alaska must be amazing.
