  1. I really like how it turned out on the interior, nicely done.
  2. "The rotors were melted", now that's a new one. The gear selector was not melted.
  3. Congrats, looking forward to the pics of the LS.
  4. I hate any roads with extreme congestion. Around here (south bay region in northern CA) that would include highway 101 during peak commute hours.
  5. Ooops, I posted twice, so I edited accordingly. My response is above.
  6. I'm not young and do enjoy many kinds of music. Because of my age I have a long history of listening to many kinds of rock music of 60/70/80's. In the car my preference today is hip hop and R&B. At the office I prefer jazz and classical music.
  7. A rare event in VA, but in CA rather routine. Glad nobody was hurt.
  8. Interesting, sounds kind of expensive.
  9. I enjoyed Pikes Peak. Since I was in a gutless rental car, I kept the speeds down so it wasn't scary for me. The thin air at the top made breathing difficult at first (14K feet +)
  10. Reporting back after attending event at Pebble yesterday, car actually looks good in metal. The interior is what buyers expect in this price range too.
  11. Here's one that was at Pebble Beach yesterday (parked near tent for the new Lexus GS unveiling).
  12. Did not notice that when I sat in the 2013 GS350 RWD version. But is that problem unique to the current AWD version?
  13. Agreed, styling is very subjective and personal preferences are unique. In seeing and touching the new car in the flesh I appreciate how substantial the car was compared to just looking at pictures. For example the stance was very nice due to 2" track increase. The taillights are a bit TSX-ish but the LS-style exhaust outlets and rear lower diffuser was very sporty. Front end and air dam was cool. These styling elements will become the Lexus trademarks for all new cars released in next few years. And the quality/finish/roominess of the interior was very nice. Overall, the car is very much upgraded over current GS and current E-class, more of a direct competitor of current BMW 5 series.
  14. Lexus turn signals are quiet like Porsche turn signals, I'm used to it.
  15. Yes, those are real pictures of the new GS. I was at Pebble Beach for the unveiling yesterday and it has a stance and interior like the new BMW 5 series. In short it looks a lot better than current gen and certainly a Sonata. Little pictures don't tell the story.
  16. For those seeking a modest drop (1") at minimal cost, the Eibach 350's or Lexus F-sport springs work well, especially with the OEM sport package shocks. I've been running this setup for about 2 years on my IS350.
  17. Agreed, I think exemptions (for a fee on oneoff exotics) are already being made for fuel economy, emissions and safety and should be. Because no significant impact on general US public in terms of fuel usage, safety, clean air results from selected exemption for extremely low volume situations. But of course I too do not want to see manufacturers abuse or sidestep laws just by throwing money at the government.
  18. IMO, it should be allowed for a fee (very high fee) and much more than the example of such a tax or fee already in place in the United States, the "gas guzzler" tax. The price needs to be so high that no production car manufacturer would even consider paying and charge a tax of tens of thousands of dollar per unit.
  19. My gas mileage on the Lexus IS350 is certainly very good considering the performance capabilities, but nothing to brag about (22 to 23 mpg average over last 2 years, mostly suburban driving). But I drove a current gen Prius for a week and it's not a substitute for an IS350.
  20. DenslexusGX470 - Thanks, interesting preview pics, the car does look legal and production ready. I see plenty of expected Lexus styling cliches plus some newer ones. I'll report back Friday, but I expect the press to release later on Thursday plenty of clear pics and vids since they will be in attendance at Pebble Beach.
  21. I thought that digital clock in my Lexus looked familiar, it's the same as my GE microwave. :)
  22. Around here with a lot of multi-car households, the electric car will become increasingly popular. The main reason will be access to the carpool lane while driving solo. Hybrids (with the yellow sticks) just lost that access.
  23. Thanks, have a nice weekend. Let's enjoy our Lexus rides.
