  1. Either that or the the belt broke and wrapped around the crankshaft.
  2. Your Camry experience is probably all you need. KYB will work well. My son has an 07 ES350 and the only issue has been front brake vibration. He has tried many combinations of disks and pads and the vibration has always returned. Still have not come up with solution. By the way welcome aboard. The Camry and ES platform share many of not most components.
  3. Brake Pads Clip - Lexus (04947-48050) about $12 at Lexus.
  4. smoken deal TerryMAC. Enjoy your ride, I paid 24k in 2010 with the same basic mileage.
  5. Personally I would fix the issues, and drive further, The lack of a car payment more than compensates for maintenance dollars. I have 193k miles on my RX400h and am loving it. Replaced all shocks and mounts, lower control arms and ball joints, next coming up again is the timing belt. But hey no car payment, and a great ride.
  6. Wow wonder what the story behind that replacement dip stick was? Previous owner loose it and was given incorrect one?
  7. I purchased Michelin LTX Defenders series, so far good and they are rated for 70k miles. Rated very well by Consumers report....
  8. Ask them if you can bring your own oil....Than go to Walmart and buy the 5 liter container for less than $26 and let them charge for the oil filter and change.
  9. By the way if you do plugs, make sure to use Denso, or NGK iridium plugs...DO NOT USE BOSCH. THe torque strut engine mount is on top of the engine on the passenger side. It is a short little rod with rubber mounts on each end. mounted next to the Brake fluid reservoir and front cam area of the engine.
  10. The surge is not normal, I would suggest the ISC reset and also possible a worn Torsion strut on the top engine mount. As for noise on AM that is definetly not the normal. Sounds like a broken or unhooked antenna.
  11. I too had an RX300, great car. But the second generation RX is so much nicer, except for the leather on the seats, (not a great in quality) but sufficient. I love my RX400h (2008), by far my most favorite vehicle I have ever owned. I bought at 88k miles and now have 189k miles. Definetly refined, and a great road car.
  12. The reason I went after new suspension parts is that on a weaving windy road, I found my stability lacking as the shocks showed lack of support. The Control arm bushings were severely cracked and so between that and the new struts and mounts, the car feels so much better. The ball joints came with the control arms, a plus, especially at 186k miles. I have had one wheel bearing go bad, but other than that a great auto. I plan on pushing it till 250k miles before I make any changes... by the way I performed all work listed above. Not really an easy task on the control arms....
  13. I would say that someone either treated the vehicle like a 4 wheel drive in the boonies or the stealership is looking for the managers new boat payment. I have 189000 miles on my RX400h and yes I have replaced the shocks, and control arms along with the ball joints, but they were not shot. I would expect that you will have a happy 150k miles of reliability after those repairs, and yes be thankful they are covered. Hey good news is your vehicle should ride like new.
  14. They do make a tool for those clamps...Makes it so much easier.
  15. I am afraid these firmware uploads are very proprioritory. I doubt that you would be able to get them outside of Toyota or Lexus dealerships.
  16. Your best bet is to order from a Ebay seller and give them the vin # of your car, they will cut the key and provide a new key without the electronics. YOu just transfer the electronics from the broken key to the new one. Should be able to do this for under $35
  17. Never heard of them.....I have used Monroe quick struts on my Truck, but what is FCS?
  18. They are listed in the Consumers report annual book, rated well. They are in Tire rack also. Funny they are not a best seller, but rated well there also....
  19. however these are the LTX defender series. they are for suv and light trucks
  20. Ok I am committed to some Michelin LTX Defenders. Putting them on Monday the 10th as there is a $70 rebate. America Tire suggest them over the Pirelli. I have the same tire on my Ford F150 Supercrew and so far they have been excellent...Wish me luck in this continuous tire drama. And Yes I just had an alignment done (185kMiles) and toe was off front and rear. I have all new shocks, mounts, and control arms with ball joints...
  21. Ok the price is excellent, at least in my neck of the woods. That price would be for a RX with twice the mileage. As for the radiator it only cost around $100 from Part sources like RockAuto.com. Your mechanic should be able to install it for a reasonable labor charge. But you may not have an issue at all. One other thing is that maybe the Waterpump is weeping, and that is why you have lost coolant. That could be changed when the timing belt gets changed. I would buy some Toyota Red coolant add to the reservoir tank and see what happens. The RX330 has proven to be a very overall good vehicle. I would say with that mileage depreciation is not an issue, as the price is really good.
  22. hey it is a great car. if you have a trused mechanic let him do the work. until you reach 100k miles all maintenance should be oil changes, tires, etc. at 100k miles the timing belt is due, but don't panic they can go longer. Toyota will change it for around $600. at 125k miles the spark plugs are due, bUT again they will go way above that mileage (iridium plugs) some have ran them to 200k miles with no issues. other than that and routine oil changes the car should be good. I have had an rx300 with 187k miles and now a rx400h with 185k miles. this site and club lexus site are full of people that can guide you and save money. welcome aboard
  23. just go to a toyota dealership and get an oil change, brake fluid flush, and a transmission drain and fill. should be under $400. all of the other stuff listed is garbage. you probably should have the radiator flushed also, but not until you determine whether it is leaking.
  24. Sounds like a great car, the coolant could be a bad or seeping radiator, look for red residue around the top edge of radiator. I would have the transmission drained and filled, Do NOT do a flush...Other than that enjoy.
