  1. This thread on another forum is good; I did it on my RX300 http://www.clublexus.com/forums/showthread...x+input+for+mp3
  2. If the flex pipe is cracked way open, the air leak may be causing a bad o2 reading at the cat. I would go to a muffler shop and get that flex piece repaired first. around $100 to do so, but a lot cheaper than the dealership.

    Stupid Is...

That is why I shop around for online banking that is totally free. I use B of A and it is free and I can pay anyone or anybody with it. Credit unions also have this service. I do not sign up for free online withdrawals because they want to charge you. Working from the online free banking whether it be bank or credit union is great. I would cancel those services where you are being charged for that feature.
  4. Boy lexkid, That was not smart, I hope you plead moment of insanity, I like your posts, and hate tickets as well, but having a son and daughter as cops, i see both sides of the isle, and they have a tough job, and sometimes the ticket thing is one I personally hate, but please remember all of the good and so much crap they put up with. Also remember that many of them are asked to do things that the Sargent requires, whether they like it or not. And yes in the case of a minor few it is a power complex. But speeding is dangerous, we have all been there, but there are outlets for it in clubs, tracks, etc. Most cops wont bother you for a few or 10 miles over, but the high speed ones can be very un-nerving to all on the road. Good luck, sorry, but everyone is right, the insurance is going to go up, and the record is stuck, unless you have the option of drivers school like here in California. Chalk it up to to a bump in the road and move on. By the way I hope you and your family have a great Christmas.
  5. There is a screw under the switch assembly, you have to pry the switch assembly up carefully. I suggest putting masking tape along the edge of the vinyl and using a very small flat blade screwdriver to pry the assemby out. I believe there are four clips holding it. Under the assembly there is a screw fastening the panel to the door frame.
  6. The AC belt probably needs to be tightened just a little bit more. If you can twist the belt more than 1/2 from it movement it is too loose. You should be able to twist it a little, but not a full 90 degrees.
  7. He may be high mileage, but maybe some of this would clean the sludge and make the seals more pliable. Some where on one of the sites folks have used THE RX cleaner and found that their oil leaks and useage went down because the seals became more pliable. Here is the link http://www.auto-rx.com/
  8. I would take the slides out and lube them, they are probably corroded and need a good cleaning. If you dont the caliper will not float properly...
  9. I started my car on the synthetic blend when I bought it new. And I too have not experienced the sludge so far, At around 80k miles I switched to full synthetic and have not looked back. I now have 146k miles and still going. Yes Synthetic seems to help curtail the sludge problem...
  10. Great, I am very happy for you, Thank you for the input and where the shop was. Others may take advantage of your input and save a lot of money...
  11. Every thing is included and the whole thing takes less than 30 minutes. I believe I did use the existing bolts. But the brackets on the new struts are made to fit our car.
  12. Lexus of course, but a lot of the Auto parts stores now carry the hardware for those type applications.
  13. look here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/LEXUS-RX300...sspagenameZWDVW I bought some from this vender and they work great....
  14. I will clarify, the plug behind the transmission is part of the transmission. The fluid added to the dipstick goes to both. go here and go to thread number 78 for the two plugs on the tranny.... http://www.clublexus.com/forums/showthread...0061&page=6 This same thread has some great pictures of doing the front and rear differential hypoid oil changes also...
  15. The plug behind the transmission is also part of the transaxle. It will take 4.1 qts. to fill after doing a drain and fill. The fluid you add will go to the area of that rear plug...so dont sweat it being dry. By the way this is on the AWD RX ..The transfer case and rear axle differential both take .946 qts. each..I suggest using a full synthetic in these...Do not put Tranny fluid in these. look here. http://mywebpages.comcast.net/rx300how2/index.html The two differentials use 80/90 weight rear end fluid. I would do synthetic...
  16. Might just be a plug that came undone during the colision,The display lights up which means at least it has power, but maybe there is an data line unplugged. I dont have any schematics for the unit but maybe somebody will input. If not post on Club Lexus site also, there are a couple of individuals there that know a lot about the head unit.
  17. Buy some Brembo rotors, and Akebono pads and you will be set.
  18. The Lexus RX300 only uses struts, which replace the traditional shock absorber.
  19. First, when they ask were you speeding, say yes sir, I wasnt paying attention and probably was. Cops like honesty. And yes go to court, if the cop for some lucky reason doesnt show up, (very seldom) sometimes the judge will throw the ticket out. But generally the fine is reduced which helps (here in California) Good luck
  20. Karl, thank you never thought of it that way, we old dogs learn something new everyday.
  21. those are normal wear and tear items, once replaced good for another 90k...Also your car registration and car payment would go up with the new car, just fix it, you will be ahead....Sorry that you can not do these things yourself, but an independent mechanic that you trust could save you some money. My RX300 1999 has 145k miles and is still going strong, yes I did have to replace the transmission at 100k, but now I change the fluid every 15k miles and hope to run it to 250k miles....good luck
  22. There is an 8 year unlimited mileage warranty for oil sludge problems....Look it up and get the work done http://www.oilgelsettlement.com/
  23. This might help you. Covers a lot of subjects that you are asking about.... http://mywebpages.comcast.net/rx300how2/index.html
  24. I usually take the old brake pad and use a c clamp to pull the piston in flush with the caliper housing. The piston will go in flush. I installed the Akebono pads on both the front and rear of my RX so I know it can be done..
  25. That hesitation is pretty common on the RX330, but There is supposed to be a reflash of the ECM that helps the shift problem. Check your dealership and see if it has been done on your vehicle.
