  1. Its like managers in a business, some are attentative and good, others suck...Lexus of America from my experience is all mouth and no show. Reminds me of our politicians, promise you the world and once elected, do nothing. Buy the car, and forget the excellence from then on... You know, in small claims they might not show up, costs too much for such a measley amount. better to pay off and be done with it...
  2. I wonder if you can file a claim in small claims court?
  3. This gentleman did it, see this post from the RX posts http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=41219
  4. I noticed that when the bridgestones get worn, they ride much rougher, That was my experience on my RX, My michelins cross terrains ride very smooth...
  5. easy way to test them is as you thought, swap and see if code moves, if it does it is bad....
  6. I ordered all of the rebuild parts from Park Place Lexus in Plano Texas, The bearings, brushes, and rebuilt mine... Works great, last a long time and wont rot your teeth.....
  7. I wonder if one of the ABS speed sensors is going bad, or loose? Seems though it would generate a code in the computer.... Maybe there is a pinched brake line as someone else mentioned. That could make the caliper act weird...
  8. The clock changing is a battery that is going bad, replace the battery with a Walmart, or Costco one and the Clock will be fixed. this is a common problem when the battery is going bad and is documented on this site.... As for the window regulator maybe somebody else will drop in..
  9. Just dont use the duralast pads, they have lifetime warranty, but wear extremely fast....I put them on my daughters Toyota, and quite frankly they do not brake well, and the dust is terrible. stick with stock or Akebono.... or if they have them Wagner thermo quiets.

    Armyofone?

God Bless him, and I will keep him in my prayers....
  11. Please check your tranmission fluid, make sure it is bright red and not black or burnt smelling....
  12. Thats not globally true. I had a 97 Explorer before the Lexus and the transmission failed promptly at 70k miles, as is extremely common for the Explorer. Now, thats a design flaw just like it is with the RX, but the fact still remains that it happens. The explorer wasnt known for reliability however and probably cost a lot less. Lexus just plain and simple refuses to back up their trannys, and is still suffering in this design issue....
  13. Try jumping it with another car, if it starts then you are back to square one, if not, the starter is probably bad.
  14. No have never had a problem, What kind of tires did you install? Also the original installer had to probably balance them... I have had bad new tires after about 5k miles. The belts seperated inside the tire and you could never get it balanced right.... by the way the stock wheels are not unidirectional ( what a bunch of gobbly !Removed!) I believe he meant some tires are only installed in one direction as the tread is designed for one direction only....
  15. Hey give us feedback, and if you could ask the tranny guy what parts failed, and which ones he replaced. I will add to my files....Thank you very much Tom
  16. Yes I agree with you about the 15k interval for changing the fluid, however the Lexus manual or dealerships years ago did not recommend this interval. They have changed their policy unofficially, due to the failure rate when changing the fluid by their old recommendation. I wish you only good luck with your cars, and I do love mine, except I am still upset with Lexus of America for never standing behind their product on the tranny failures. Sad, because otherwise the car is great. I changed my fluid every 30k and it still failed, now I change it every 15k or sooner....there is a design problem, and it is acellerated when the car is driven in heavy city commutes. Seems the highway miles are more gentle on the tranny as it is not constantly searching for overdrive. My friend has the same car, but she drives mostly freeway speeds and hers didnt fail until 180k miles....unfortunately my wifes is driven on city streets for her commute daily..Now I tell her to turn overdrive off, to stop the searching.....Good luck everyone...
  17. On your timing belts I would also look at the idler pulleys...
  18. When the slip ring went crooked it probably fried the regulator, by the Way they sell that also...
  19. I guess it depends on how much you like the car, Mine failed at 100k, I had it replaced at $4300.... I still like the car, but am mad a Lexus for such poor support, unlike Honda Accura which decided to fix there trannies at their cost....I would definetly go with the independent, ask him If you could contact some of the customers which he did, and ask them how they feel about the repaired tranny. If you do have it serviced, make sure the fluid is changed every 15k miles from then on. And make sure it is Toyota Type IV or Amsoil synthetic. They are the only ones that will work.... I have 145 k miles on mine now, and still like the car, just very unhappy with Lexus as a company...
  20. This may be a solution for you.... http://www.leatherrepairkits.com/repair_kit.shtml
  21. I took it out of the bracket, darn, just did this this year, but It did stick in the lower bolt....Funny went back in easily...Same alternator, as I did a rebuild, new brushes, bearings, and cleaned the commutator....
  22. ;You can get a double din kit at Best buys, Walmart, And Frys....
  23. take a long large screwdrive and wedge the pivot area, it is just stuck....
  24. Great job, thanks for the very informative info....
