I too have a Garmin C340, in the manual you will find that you can update the map software. It is free. or go to Garmin site and search there.

Maybe there is some debris on one of the speed sensors located at each wheel. Envolves taking each one off and cleaning. Located on the wheel hub. you will see wires going to each wheel. Good luck.

There are two fuses, Radio number 2 fuse (7.5 amp) which is hot all of the time gray/red wire, and Fuse number 1 (25 amp) blue/yellow wire which in turned on by the ACC or run switch. both located in engine junction box. Also the Dome fuse provides power (10amp)red/white wire which is also hot all of the time. this is from a Haynes manual.

Read this post, may be your problem, apparantly the heaters are wire in series. I have a '98 Avalon and got the same P0135 code when checked at Advance Auto Parts yesterday. I purchased the Bosch "universal" O2 Sensor for $ 64 as opposed to the $147 "wired to OEM" special. I agree with Mike that the wiring connection isn't too tough so save some $ and buy the universal unit. However, the rub I had was knowing which sensor is Bank 1, Sensor 1. Going to my Haynes book shows O2 Sensor with Bank 1, Sensor 1 being the front sensor easily seen when you open the hood and look down on the exhaust manifold. But here is the kicker, the Avalon has two sensors, Bank 2 sensor 1 is the other with the heater circuit jumper together. Bank 2 sensor 1 is between the engine and firewall, you can see better on driver's side when looking for it. Going to the electrical wiring diagrams in the back of Haynes shows that if either sensor heater circuit faults I believe you will get the infamous P0135 code "Bank 1 Sensor 1 heater circuit". Love those electrical diagrams. So disconnect the sensors at the connector and pull out your volt meter. Check the heater circuit on each sensor before you replace the wrong one. Check the terminals where the 2 black wires connect, no polarity on the heater circuit, for resistance (ohms) should be 11 to 16 ohms when engine is cold. For instance, I got 13.2 on the front one and the back showed OPEN. Replaced the back one and then went back to Advance for a PCM reset to clear the "Check Engine" light

Transmission Problems/failures with RX300 awd/fwd
lenore replied to tslex's topic in 99 - 03 Lexus RX300
Thank you for filing complaint. So Sad, and right at the end of the year. Merry Christmas Lexus, Just chalk up another satisfied customer padding your pockets. The tranny issues never go away..... -
Not necessarily, if the Knock sensor codes is up the car is put in mode that overddrive will not engage. You need to fix the problems of what is creating that code. What codes do you have???

97 Es300 Exhaust In Need Of A New Flex Tubing
lenore replied to FSY's topic in 92 - 06 Lexus ES250/300/330
Go to an independent muffler shop and get one welded in. Mine has been in for over 4 years. -
Hey that is why we all give input, the more the better, I recall RX NC also mentioning that gasket. He said it stopped his noise.

There is a Haynes Repair Manual for the 99-06 Lexus RX300/330 and Toyota Highlander. It is number 92095. I got mine at the Toyota Dealership. I think around $15. Has the entire procedure for timing belt and waterpump, and idlers.

It is my wifes car, but had to meet the comfort needs of both of us. The RX300 is very comfortable on long trips, we bought it originally for a trip to North Carolina for the birth of our first grandbaby, loaded with baby stuff we were off, and made it there in 3 days. Yep, the next day our grandaughter was born, so this car was special, it took her home after she was born, and who knows, may be her first car when she is 16. That was 9 years ago, and the car other than the tranny has been wonderful. As for chick car, yep, but I drive it with pride, it is in excellent condition with 146k miles and my wife says her co workers are amazed when she tells them the car is 9 years old. Yea the floor mats are worn, but maybe that will be a honey I love you gift next year. It still drives solid, and hopefully will for years to come. I want to change the rear lights to the LED s but money doesnt seem to go that way right now. Rear shocks next, and maybe some AMSOIL tranny fluid. Merry Christmas from the 57 year old husband of my younger wife RX300 owner.

good suggestion!! :cries: If i don;t have it fixed, i will suely do that. I called a locksmith. the guy didn;t ask me what car i have nor what year but just send me a iguy. the guy said service chage $35, labor 115. I said forget it. the guy asked me for $35 service. I said you did nothing adn i would not pay you $35 for nothing... Then i called another guy, he said $50. OK! 2 mins done!! what the difference!! By the way, i will duplicate a key tomorrow for $25, just a key without remote, good for me anyway and better for hundreds dollars from the dealer.... By the way If you have Triple A road service, they do it for free. Yea I know the membership is annual....

congrats, and enjoy the Tax Break, but whoa....there it goes for the next 18years and hundreds of diapers later. Just kidding, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Go to walmart and pick up some silicone spray in the automotive section. Spray the gasket and see if this helps.

I dont know, but I do know that you could have a cell that is shorting intermitantly in the battery, I have experienced that a couple of times. remember your cold temperatures could really affect it also. If you had 13.9 volts coming out of the alternator, than the battery is just not holding the charge. By the way sometimes the folks at the auto stores dont know how to use the testers properly under a load.
-
Sounds to me the battery is going bad, I suggest a Costco one for replacement. The voltage out of the Alternator is correct, by the way I replaced the brushes and bearings in my RX which is a 1999 also. The brushes were worn, but not causing any problems. Batteries can fail, especially when it is cold.

The Throttle position sensor maybe sticking. ( I am guessing by your indication) Probably needs cleaning.
-
Check the flex pipe under the engine on the exhaust, They split and cause that kind of noise. Go to an independent muffler shop and have it replaced you will save lots of money there. The national chains like midas, etc, charge too much...
-
As above, your car battery may be going bad, It may check good, but trust us, replacing the battery will fix the problem.
-
I agree merry christmas to both, I too enjoy them. Is it because one is from the east coast, and one from the west coast???just kidding.

The engine is covered for 8years 2months and unlimited mileage. Dont accept otherwise. There was a lawsuit that toyota accepted these terms. The engine is covered.......read this http://www.autoblog.com/2007/01/17/oil-slu...ss-action-suit/

I think you got a great price, I do all of my own work, however Lexus quoted that price for just the timing belt and water pump. so you got the brake job for free. Merry Christmas and enjoy your car.

Transmission Problems/failures with RX300 awd/fwd
lenore replied to tslex's topic in 99 - 03 Lexus RX300
I know when my tranny went there was major metal debris. the pan and valve body were full. -
I Was Wrong.............(maybe).
lenore replied to wwest's topic in 04 - 09 Lexus RX330 / RX350 / RX400h
So by that pdf the drive on the RX330 is 50/50 drive????? But not the Viscous coupling. -
I hope it is not from the overdrive not engaging. Could be a sign of a early transmission failure. Check the fluid and see if it smells burnt.

Transmission Problems/failures with RX300 awd/fwd
lenore replied to tslex's topic in 99 - 03 Lexus RX300
When my vehicle experienced the failure, the Lexus mechanic told me that there was a definite problem, and that he personally had replaced a very high number of transmission in the AWD version of the RX300. He told me Lexus refuses to achknowledge a problem. That is straight from the Lexus mechanic in Roseville CA. By the way the second transmission was defective, and it took me 4 weeks to convince them that it wasnt working right. They ended up replacing it also. I asked him with my schedule of 30k miles fluid changes what I could have done differently, he said nothing, there is a problem, but unfortunately the Lexus dealers do not repair the trannys but send them out and get rebuilts. I guess out of sight, and out of mind. so basically they are just parts changers, with no transmission experience.
