Unless it is bad, they wont do anything. The best thing is to have the fluid changed every 15k miles or once a year. Cheap fix for hopefully making it go the long run. While you are under warranty you could consider a extended warranty. If your car is AWD they are the ones failing, if it is only Front wheel drive, relax and do the maintenance....

1999 Rx300 Door Lock Actuator Repair Less Than $15
lenore replied to indiana's topic in 99 - 03 Lexus RX300
did you get the screw under the switch assembly. I mean you have to remove the switch assembly to get to it..... -
Yep an expensive oil change, get it done at the Toyota Dealership for $29 and your warranty is covered....

I hope we are on same page, There are four drain holes in the sunroof area, all are necessary. The hoses go down each of the four pillars of the roof support, front left, front right, left rear, right rear. The hoses usually exit in the wheel well areas.

Transmission Problems/failures with RX300 awd/fwd
lenore replied to tslex's topic in 99 - 03 Lexus RX300
Lenore ,I found a independent that will do it for 3200.00 and I will take your advice and have the rear main seal replaced. THANKS FOR THAT TIP! Do you have the number for Lexus America? I am already in the process of filing a complaint with NHTS , just want to make sure I dont leave anything out, want to have all my facts down and make it sound as pathetic as this is for everyone on this forum. What kind of business ethics does Toyota/Lexus have, I would could not have this kind of problem with an auto and let it go out to the public. Albeit Greed and profit is what makes the world what it is today. The phone number for Lexus is Phone: 1-800-255-3987 TTY/TTD Users: 1-800-443-4999 Monday–Friday, 5:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m., PT Saturday, 7:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., PT Fax: 1-310-468-2992 -
You know i had a 190e (1985) bought used. The engineering was fantastic, the handling super... And a very solid car. Unfortunately whom ever had owned it neglected it.... I ended up rebuilding the engine myself. Now I learned some true engineering. The block at 125k miles was vertually brand new when I took it to the machine shop, The machinist said all the block needed was cleaning and honing the cylinders. I ended up putting new rings but same size pistons in and the crank measured new in all deminsions. Every mating surface fit like a glove....The head on the other hand needed new valve guides and a good cleaning....Once I rebuilt the engine the car was a pleasure from that point on....I only wish any car I have ever owned could make turns like that car. Mercedes suspension is the best I have ever experienced (note I use to race sports cars and it made them look sick) Long story short ended up selling it and getting the RX300 for more room... But yes the old mercedes are bulletproof. My friend runs an independent mercedes garage and said after 1992 Mercedes went down hill reliability wise... Probably after the berlin wall fell and the east Germans started getting jobs there...Oh well, Great auto, lots of heritage, incredible engineering and birth of most safety standards in cars today....Maybe someday they will return to their greatness.

dID WATER come down all four corners of the car....???? there are four drain holes....
-
I doubt that is your problem. The drain hoses are probably clogged. There are two in the front and two in the back which allow water to drain through the pillars to the ground...You need to find the openings and see if they are clogged.

If you are real brave you could do this, I think it is great, wish I had thought of it. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...c=41219&hl=

Transmission Problems/failures with RX300 awd/fwd
lenore replied to tslex's topic in 99 - 03 Lexus RX300
sorry about your failure, did you buy from a Lexus dealership, if so you may have a warranty. i know the cpo ones are good till 100k miles... I am shocked that Toyota wanted $4700... Lexus only charged $4300.... But an independent should be at least a $1200 cheaper. by the way the rear main seal is exposed when changing the tranny it is less than $50 and now would be a great time to get it changed with the newer style one.... can save you $1200 in labor down the road... Please file a complaint with the NHTS Administration online. You will need your vehicle vin # it adds to their statistics on the failure rate of the tranny on these vehicles.... You can also contact Lexus of America....but quite frankly they dont care....good luck -
Friends of mine have towed a tent trailer for 8 years on their 1999 RX300. No problems. The tranny failed finally, but was at 160k miles... Just change your fluid every 15k miles on the tranny, and you are good to go.

Its obvious that it has been a long time since we have had anyone run and win this office that has any integrety. I would like for once someone that believes in the American people (no matter how stupid they think we are) and believes in America and is positive about the direction that we take. Borders, Language, culture is what we need to protect. There is too much power being taken by people that do not have the balls or other parts to stand up to the real enemies of this nation....muslim extremist, illegal immigrants, and all others that do not respect this nation and wish to use us only for their benefit. When was the last time that any politician said this is how it is and too bad if it offended some politically correct idiot that would loose all of the rights that our freedoms give us if we are taken over by the one world order..... Voting today is very difficult with any kind of values, when all it brings is a *BLEEP*ing match for party partisan...What a clueless, un-american bunch we have in both parties....How Sad that our forefathers fought and died to evolve to this bunch...Mark my word, history does repeat, As Rome goes so will the greatness of America if we continue to succumb to the make me feel good bunch... I am affiliated with a party, but quite frankly see no difference between the Republicans and Democrats when it comes to the destruction of our constitution. they are all very sick, God bless America and that means All gods of all Christian nations.....

You might try this first, I have read on this site or the other one that they have had success with this stuff http://www.auto-rx.com/pages/sealleak.htm

I think Lenore is talking about the attachment of the metal rod to the headliner. I don't know if your problem is the same as mine but my sun visor keeps slowly lowering itself - it's loose (ie won't stay "up") where the visor attaches to the metal rod, not where the rod attaches to the headliner (?) The only fix I know for my problem is to buy a new sun visor which, with the lights, mirror and homelink, cost as much as the car is worth!!! ;) Yea, where it attaches to ceiling, I suspect you could do something if if is just lowering, but would envolve dissecting the visor carefully, and probably damaging it....

From what I gather the KYB are OEM manufacturor.....
-
Maybe there is a loose plug on the display. unfortunately only way to check is take the center console apart and check...good luck.
-
Maybe you have corrosion on the battery posts, or the starter posts.....
-
well here is a solution to starter http://www.nationsautoelectric.com/instructions.html , however I would check the connection to it to see if it is loose or the connection to the battery to see if it is corroaded. You may just have a loose connection at either the starter or battery.

Hey thank you, great post, I saved it for reference....

Look at Park Place Lexus in Plano TEXAS, they might have the parts. I rebuilt mine (RX300 alternator) with new brushes and bearings for around $50....
-
You need to talk to the Shop forman and the general manager of that dealership. By the way the squeeling could be that the belt is still not tight enough....Wet sanding your paint job would make me mad too, now the clear coat is destroyed....Sounds like your brake job was done poorly also...good luck

I put KYB in, but basically they are OEM in handling...

Amsoil Vs. Red Line (atf And Motor Oil)?
lenore replied to homemechanic's topic in 92 - 06 Lexus ES250/300/330
I believe on the Amsoil site they have a procedure for doing a tranny flush yourself by removing one of the cooler hoses and running car. Doing it with two people would probably be the safest and easiest way.... -
Not sure about where you are, but the warranty is maintained as long as you have the maintenance done, whether it be lexus or your favorite mechanic or fast lube. You can even do it yourself as long as you keep receipts for the oil and filters....This being in the United States.
