  1. sorry everyone, I am in the wrong forum, help, how do I move it....
  2. I have 144k miles on my 99RX300
  3. the site is running, the part is $172 for either manifold, front or rear.... Lexus of Plano Texas good luck
  4. Check out Lexus of Plano TEXAS online, their site is down for maintenance at this time, but they can get you the manifold. Other possibilities would be to contact a wrecking yard and get one... and third, take it off and take it to a machine shop and have them repair it... it can be welded and repaired....
  5. Unless you are in snow, I wouldnt select the ECT positon. Turning overdrive off however does not hurt the car, just increases engine speed and stops the dreaded searching for overdrive in city slow traffic. I have actually instructed my wife to turn the overdrive off while going through the city at stop and go traffic. Mileage goes down a little, maybe 1mpg but big deal, I feel the tranny is not doing such a workout trying to save fuel while going slow... by the way I used the ECT button while up at Tahoe, and left it on and was going faster than 50MPH and when I stop there was a definite burning smell (not good) Read the book and they do not recommend above 50 while in this position. It may be slower than 50 but I remember whatever it was I was going to fast. I think it is in the owners manual....
  6. I would suggest a FWD one, 2001 still has problems....
  7. Yup, that is what they do best, hide their heads, and hope problem goes away....they know, but will not admit the failure rate.
  8. I think here the key is highway miles, Those reflect that the tranny is not constantly shifting into overddrive. Commute city traffic seems to be a major culprit in failures....Best of luck to you
  9. I wouldnt use additives, but would change the fluid every 15k miles or once a year. Good insurance, and will maintain the fluid in good working condition.
  10. I hate when dealership try to snow customers, Ask questions, are they talking about electrical wiring running in the steering column for the wipers, turn signals, etc.? Probably as spiral cable to me means the spiral rap around electrical cables to protect them....Good luck.
  11. The screws I am talking about are under the little plastic cover where the visor is attached to the ceiling. That plastic piece pops off (be gentle) and use a screwdriver (flatblade) against a piece of cardboard to protect the headliner. Under that piece are screws which tighten the visor to the ceiling.
  12. The 30k is probably nothing more than a glorified oil change. I would look in my owners maintenance book and take it to a independent and save a lot....
  13. Knock on wood, my 8 year old RX300 changer is still working, what happened to reliability.....
  14. I liked the Brembo rotors and akebono pads that I put on my RX300. Ordered them from the Tirerack.com great setup and cheap.... by the way you would have under $200 for rotors and pads for the front. easy job and nice combination
  15. Sounds like the IACV is dirty or failing...But I am sure Lexus would troubleshoot that, unless they came up with some codes...
  16. Wow, seems to be a problem with the RX330 changers, I was wondering if taking it to a stereo repair shop would be cheaper. Maybe it is something simple...I would try that before going to the dealer, unless it is covered....
  17. yes, and here is the link http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems...ecallsearch.cfm but you will have to do a search on all years 99-2002, just the 99 has 39 complaints under automatic transmission....
  18. Question, what service did Lexus perform on your transmission during the 7 years leading up to the failure? Did they change ATF fluid , anything like that? A separate trend I notice is that the mileage-at-failure seems to be in the 60-80k mi range for a lot of the failures. I'll hav eto go back and see the numbers for sure but to my mind it seems to be the range. Thanks for your story and for posting. Whatever the trend, the failures keep rolling in and the NHTS board site is growing with complaints....Probably fruitless but I have tried to get some input into the system....
  19. Boy, In your case I think you should have had the entire cost covered, expecially so close on mileage. but count your blessings with the cheaper change, make sure to have the fluid changed every 15k miles or once a year and you should be good to go...And thankyou for filing with the NHTS site I really appreciate it....
  20. I am connecting it so that it is barely seen and looks clean. Yes I understand, tap into the wiring going to the cigarette lighter....That is what I did on my RX
  21. Hey a buddy of mine has a 99rx just like my wifes, came over and said it was running poorly. Cel light on but he hadnt read the codes. I read a P302. cylinder 2 missfire. His car has 199k miles and he has never changed the plugs. Took the COP off number 2 and it was corroaded....not good. Cleaned it up and moved it to cylinder 4 for troubleshooting....Code moved to cylinder 4...Dont let your plugs go too long and get the corrosion.... probably took the COP (coil over plug) out....Toyota wants $119 and didnt have one, but Napa did.... for $93 fixed the problem... Thought I would share...
  22. Good grief, is somebody stealing them and then selling them back on ebay? just kidding, hope not...sorry about your loss of mirrors.
  23. cigarette lighter is a switched source.
  24. I had the same thing, sometimes the bulb has a filament that is broken but wandering around and making contact. I found that the top third brakelight is usually the culprit. Change the bulb and problem went away.
  25. yes, but we need to see this in the main line media instead of a tape of Osamed bin Laden.....All we see is the hatred for western civilization.....and the demoralizing of our troops and tear down of our society. I want to see a more conserrvative view from some of our muslim nations....Not the fanatics....
