  1. i drove the TL around today. Nice car indeed. these cars are in a different class, No comparison ..Peroid. For the record, id rather drive an Audi A6
  2. you replaced your mounts too? Was it included in the new units you got or did you use the ones from before? I did my suspension too, the tokicos and ebach's.. My dumass reused the mounts and now they sound like little annoying marbles hitting againts one another.
  3. the terminals are opposite on our batteries so you have to be careful when replacing the battery. this sounds like they definetely screwed up groud wiring when replacing your battery. or as bryan said, maybe some after market equipement ?
  4. its really hard to say from not feeling the ride and seeing it for my self weather or not you would need any replacement. but i can tell you that if the lady never serviced the suspension.. ie. replacing struts or what not which i doubt she did because these cars go just fine with the original suspension components 80-90 k. depending on how the car was driven and where, this usually ages the components as there is more wear. If the car sat around alot without use, this also aids in the pressure loss of the struts. with 75k on a 96... real normal. How many miles on it now ? By going in reverse, i just meant that if there was anything really wrong with the struts then braking hard would have givin u a bit drastic of a lean/tilt. -neil
  5. hey great job with the detailing. looks real good. And loved the photography you did with the city lights. One of these days, im ganna have to get out there. Coach editions are awesome, the emblems, the leather, OOO yes. we have rare cars. Enjoy! - neil
  6. for my car, which is the same as yours... before when i had my stock set up... the rear end was always lower looking than the front, meaning that the fender gap in the rear were smaller than the front. When with my new suspension set up, whole thing around lowered one inch, still same effect. Most Es300's ive seen that are our generation has the same difference between the front and rear.... Maybe its just you noticing this now. or you my have seriously overloaded those old gas struts causing them to loose pressure. this might help, next time your near your car, push down on the car with the bumper to see how the car bounces back up. if it goes down and comes up ratber stiff, then your good. But if it bounces up and down without much stiffness one either corner, you may have a bad strut. So driving and paying attension to your suspension and seeing how it handle in the rear is help ful. going in reverse and then pressing on your brakes swiftly will give you an idea too.
  7. after having driven all three generations, i feel that the 1st gen, the one i have has the edge in handling over the other two. the 2nd generations are a bit heavier to the feel. the new ones are better, they handle wonderfully actually, but the ride is so butter you dont realize how fast your actually turning, So turning too fast by mistake can totally happen making it feel like the car handles pooply, when infact at the proper speeds its perfect. i inched down my ride and added the tokico's for even a bit more road feel. Now its not really butter, more like .... cream cheese: smooth but agile
  8. the detailing forum would be perfect for this. but depending on the depth, if its just on the clear coat, then 3M, meguires, or any good swirl/scrath filler-remover works real well... if the clear coat is severly hurt, then come kind of rubbing compound or clay bar works real well. And if its deep enough into the paint, then sounds like touch up work. generally, Swirl marks and Minor scratches are difficult to remove and take quite the effort. Professionals use buffing machines with those products and can do a better job.
  9. whoa! In either case, your antenna should be opposite side of the changer. Its quite apparent which plastic plug comes from the antenna motor. Just locate the unit and follow the wire.
  10. yeah i was under that same impression. when i bought my car, it was also lexus certified. the whole car was in almost perfect body condition. Inside ofcourse was immaculate as well, cept for one little subtle tear on the rear seat stich. This was a smaller dealership though im sure, being in lansing, MI that i was. Jeez... i feel so far from you all. NOT you SK... haha anyways, I hope all the other things work out for you though, Id be real angry too! Congrads on finally getting it!!!!
  11. You are all entitled to your opinions that is awesome. Infact, i love reading these posts. I learn alot from them, Here is my opinion on this matter, Not to down anyone here ofcourse. Obviously both Companies are geared towards different people who seek different pleasures. A fight between a boxer and chess player isnt ganna last long. They have different interests and pleasures. Those power hungry are much drastically a different group of people than the luxury fanatic. Some are cought in the middle and love both, they buy AUDI'S! You gotta love how they stay outta these arguements... point is, the arguement is invalid almost. vtecbrain, your opinions are cool... but you are here nockin on lexus, on a lexus forum, and you dont even drive one. personally, i dont make it a hobby to pounce acura owners about their vehicles. I understand thier good cars, with thier own problems ofcourse, purchased by thier owners with hard work and hopefully as a well-deserved reward. Each person here is ganna have thier own bias blended in with facts to only bring out the best on each side, its human nature.
  12. if its that infrequent, then go into the trunk go to the antenna and disconnect the plasitc plug there on the cable for the antenna.... this way the antenna will no rise anymore, and if you ever get FM hungry one day.... Connect it again, it takes about 2 minutes cheers mate -neil
  13. hey SK whats up? yeah man, i actually had my friend go back there and press on the brakes, where i then figured that out earlier today actually.. weird.. now i just gotta figure out how to get it in there right. i mean, its a silverstar which i know is supposed to be better than the original, but now coming to think of it, its all under the red plastic, which wouldnt really matter in the end. i think these bulbs were only made for signal and front parking lights as they have a very neonish yellow tint. thanks for the tip though man!! - neil
  14. Alright... so today i was putting some 1157 tail light bulbs that were made by silverstar. I put them in one tail light.... Looked just awesome, about 3x the brightness of the original then i put them in the other tail light, however this time it looked like as if it were all the other bulbs. Same in brightness and did not come to match the one in the other tail light. This is a bit mind boggling. anybody have a clue to why something like this would occur? - Neil
  15. The 2.8 liter engine was the bigger engine offered in this car. It was also an option in the Oldsmobiles. Just a little trivia. :D it was a 2.2 litre 4 cylinder... and a 3.1 litre v6..... im almost sure there was never a 2.8 for those models...
  16. im 20. cars: 87 ford tarus station wagon... 95 Buick Century Custom. this had a weird engine in it. I bought it from the State of Michigan. they had some wierd lookin 2.8 L in there. Kinda fast for a Buick then got sick of the domestic crap got this 96 ES. Everyone knows its no ferrari. but its certainly a smart investment, and a satisfying hobbie.
  17. yeah, thats alot slower than an es300 stock off the line
  18. Sw03es, the yokohama's i have, are really really quiet, the ride is real soft, and handling is great. much better than the dunlops i once had. The all season performance models by them are real good...
