  1. Read On, Possible Lexus will pull the plug on this model so soon??? Also, if they replace it with a model that starts at $30,000, will lexus continue it's marleting as a luxury brand or are they now getting into ma two tier offering? http://www.autoblog.com/2011/11/14/slow-selling-lexus-hs-250h-already-getting-the-axe/?icid=maing-grid10%7Chtmlws-main-bb%7Cdl18%7Csec3_lnk1%7C112402
  2. Hi Lexir,...What is the "rses"? Thanks! Paul
  3. Hi Binhzino and welcome to the LOC. You might want to post your thread in the "IS" forum to get more information from other "IS" owner/members and those that have done some mods. Wheels always make a strong statement in my opinion as long as they don't look like someone spilled a bucket of chrome all over them. Paul

    Road Trip

Sounds like a way cool ride. Welcome to the LOC! Paul
  5. One simple but often fix for the seat memory issue: The seat memory won't work if you accidently have your foot on the brake while your doing the process. Check your owners manual. As for the heater, There is a fuse for the air conditioning system. (In my ES350, it is a 50amp). This fuse is for the complete system as far as I can tell. This includes the heat and cool sides and the mixing motor. It is possible that when the new battery was installed there was a brief short that took out that fuse. This is mere speculation on my part as diagnosing via long distance is not an exact science. For example, if the A/C is blowing cold the fuse may be fine. Check this out and someone else will chime in here as well.
  6. Try this...from Club Lexus: http://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-400-300/49783-tilt-steering-repair.html
  7. Hi Patrick, This may seem obvious, but in most of these situations, the fastest and least destructive course is to use a locksmith to open the glove box door. Once inside, you can remove the defective latch and take it to your dealer to get a replacement. Might check e-bay or a wrecker yard for a second hand part. P.S. Please don't use all caps when you post. It means you are yelling. Thanks.

    2012 Tesla

Bob Lutz says Tesla is going to make it. This on "Charlie Rose" last night. The stock has a BUY on it, even though their losing money. Lutz says Global Warming is a "Crock of Sh*** " and 42mpg CAFE standards is ridiculous. Read and watch: http://www.autoblog.com/2011/11/11/bob-lutz-i-honestly-think-teslas-going-to-make-it/
  9. Check this thread out. I found it by doing a search of the board. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=50009&st=0&p=323188&hl=+satellite%20+radio%20+module&fromsearch=1entry323188
  10. The ML system IMO is not as simple as your basic OEM radio/amp. The surround sound unit uses 19 speakers and 450 watts with a custom crossover network that is balanced for each speaker. It is difficult to just rip out the sub and replace it with an aftermarket that will match the crossover and the impedance. I see you posted this thread in another forum. I think "jaswood" would be a good resource for the technical aspects of this problem. Also, if you unplug you present sub and just leave the wire loose without a lood you will still be drawing current from the amp.
  11. I thought that was probably it, but didn't want to stick my foot into it. (As we say out here on the farm) Thanks for the info!
  12. I know you've already gotten a lot of advice, and I don't mean to but in here at the last minute. But, I did want to emphasize a point that SW made above. It's been my experience in buying used cars that the seller is usually fairly resistant to letting you take their car and take it apart to "check it out". It's risky for them and they have no clue that you know what the hell your doing and won't bring it back as a bunch of parts in a paper bag. There are a LOT of good cars out there just waiting for a good home. One to many times I have fallen in love with a car on sight and bought it on the spot. Later on, that love wore mighty thin and I and my mechanic were ready for a divorce. Just don't get your hear set on one car so much that your good judgment gets lost. (My 2 cents; I'm over charging you. LOL)
  13. This is driving me nuts; I remember seeing a step by step photo tutorial on the board of how to replace the battery in this model FOB. Think I can find it now?.....NOoooo! Sorry It is very easy to follow the diagram and pictures in the owners manual on how to change out the battery. Take a stab at doing a search for that pictorial (probably on this forum). If nothing else it will give you a chance to get familiar with our search engine. A lot of useful information on there. Paul
  14. Thanks Lenore. I posted the same thing in the General Lexus Discussion forum so the rest of the board would hopefully see it.
  15. This press release from Toyota includes the 2004 & 2005 Rx330 & 2006 RX400h as well as the 2004 & 2005 ES330. The problem resides with the crankshaft pulley going bad and allowing the power steering belt to come off. Please read: http://www.autoblog.com/2011/11/09/toyota-recalling-550-000-vehicles-worldwide-for-potential-steeri/?icid=maing-grid10%7Chtmlws-main-bb%7Cdl8%7Csec3_lnk3%7C111268
  16. Regarding the money factor, I'm sorry to show my ignorance, but I don't know what that is. In a lease, when you use the term residual, are you meaning the value of the car at the end of the lease term by which the leaseor will calculate the "depreciation" of the vehicle? If so, after leasing several cars in the past, I know of no way to "Look up" or calculate the residual of that car unless you use the current value of the same brand and model car on the market now that is say two or three years old, the same time term of the lease your contemplating. In some ways, your really at the mercy of the leaseor as to what the car will be worth unless they will let you negotiate that part of the lease. Obviously you want the car to be worth as much as you can when the lease expires. Just a word about leasing. Although it allows you to drive more car for the money sometimes, it also locks you in to making monthly payments forever. Why? It's just like renting an apartment. You have nothing to show for it. When the lease is done you have no equity, no trade-in value, no down payment on another car purchase or lease, and most people have to continue leasing another car. Hopefully your the exception and are able to save a bunch at the same time your leasing so you have flexibility when your lease is up.
  17. I just finished talking with the techs at my dealer re: your problem. Unfortunately, it can be eithr the radio or amplifier, but most likely the radio. The problem with the amp is did they check to see if the amp had voltage coming into it and going out. If not, it's the amp. Otherwise it's the radio. Re: the $3,000., the dealer thinks they must be trying to charge you for the whole Navigation unit when it is not neccessary. Only the radio needs to be replaced, and here it runs $750. installed. Cost vary quite a bit from dealer to dealer as you go around the country, and maybe your local people are have higher overhead? (huh?) I don't know if this helps but wanted to give you some facts instead of more speculation. Paul
  18. Thank you for taking the time to research the DRL subject and provide some concrete data other than our own opinions. One of the arguments I found amusing, (for lack of a better word) was re: the assertion that after the initial introduction of the DRL, the other drivers would get used to them and would no longer pay any attention to them. My thinking is if that were the case, the red, green, and yellow traffic lights we see several times a day would have long ago lost our attention and nobody would stop at a red light! Paul

    Tow Trucks

We are having our first real snow here in Iowa. While watching the local news, they ran a story surveying Tow Truck drivers on the most frequent type of call they receive during a snow storm. The result was that the most calls they go out on are four wheel drive vehicles. The drivers either forget to put all four wheels in gear, or they get over confident regarding their vehicles capability. If it's your first trip out in snow this year, make sure you throw ALL 4 wheels in gear. P.S. Same news cast: Our Governor wants to find a way to raise more revenue from people who buy fuel efficient cars since they buy less gasoline thus paying less gas tax. (I don't make this stuff up folks.)
  20. Thanks for taking the time to post this usefull information. Welcome to the LOC.
  21. What does your owners manual tell you. (If your not confused by now.) Welcome to the Club.
  22. Haven't added the CleanSweep, but did put a Sub in my previous ES330 and my current ES350. Sub works great with the standard Lexus "Premium" system. I have an Alpine amp in the trunk fastened to the backing of the seat board that is dedicated to the sub. Need that set-up to control the gain on the woofer otherwise it gets muddy and can overwhelm the cabin speakers. The Lexus sound systems are touchy in that they use a crossover network for each speaker. The car audio place I use quit trying to install after market speakers in Lexus cars because they had so much trouble finding ones that could sound right and produce the correct frequencies with the built in network. Just a word of caution before you rip everything up and buy something you can't return. Paul
  23. First thing, check for power to the system; i.e., fuses. Not totally sure about the RX, but they should be down on the left side of the drivers floor. Additional ones may be in the engine compartment. If the radio does not work, and the Nav screen is dead and the voice recog. is dead, it all comes out of the same head unit within the navigation unit. No power, no work. Paul
  24. OK, I'll give it a try: 1996 VOLVO - 850 Turbo / $1,995.00 173,368 miles Affordable Auto Wholesale 877-401-9941 Oldy but a Goody!! (autotrader.com)
