  1. Sounds a little odd...In both of my Lexus, 2005&2010 ES's; they had/have factory Sat radio and there has been very little difference in volume levels when switching from one band to another. Especially when you say your experiencing a differential of 15-20 points! If you think about it, starting at 0 volume on the controls and turning it up 20 points on the scale that would be pretty loud. (Not for your Kids of course), but considering most people find a level of 30 to be about the highest level they find comfortable. The ASL circuit in the system could I suppose have some fault in this but only if it only happened just after you've been driving on a noisy highway or something similar. Is this issue peculiar to the RX? Is the radio system in the RX that much different from the units in other Lexus models say the GS?
  2. Welcome to the Lexus Owners Club. Sounds like a fun project. You say it's a 2007, yet it already needs to be fully restored? What kind of shape is it in now?
  3. I found one OEM wood kit on ebay for a GS300, year 1993. The price is about $148.00. I don't think your going to be able to find just a single piece such as for your console. Since it is on ebay, if your interested I would follow the link below quickly. http://motors.shop.ebay.com/Trim-/33705/i.html?Make=Lexus&Model=GS300&Model%2520Year=1993&rt=nc&Part%2520Brand=Factory%252C%2520OEM&_catref=1&_dmpt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&_fln=1&_myi=1993&_qfkw=1&_ssov=1&_trksid=p4506.c0.m282
  4. Hi Chip, I can only tell you about my previous 2005, ES330. The placement of that sensor was behind the front bumper, about in front of the radiator fan(s). Is this the same location your diagrams have been showing you? Did the outside temp display in the dash suddenly go blank, or did it slowly fade out? ps: I'm in Des Moines; Go Clones..
  5. Hi Mesaid, Welcome to the LOC! As I read through your post I wondered if there were some of our members who may not be familiar with the Toyota Altezza. To help your chances for an answer, I thought I'd give some background on the car hoping it might help someone recognize it and the door you need. The Toyota Altezza was made and sold in Japan. In 1998, it won Japans "Car of the Year" award. The car was also marketed in Europe, and became very successful for Toyota. However, it was never sold in the United States. That is as the Altezza. It was retuned, rebadged, and renamed, and sent to the USA as the IS200. In 2000, The Is300 (remade)followed as the last remains of the Toyota Altezza. In fact, the Altezza name,(Italian for Highness) was dropped entirely when the Lexus badge was introduced. The IS200 also was sold in Europe. Mesaid; We need to know the year of your Altezza and if it's a Lexus brand. Paul
  6. Hi Herb! Welcome to the LOC. Looks like you hooked into a great find. Can't help but think of the old saying " Owned by a Little old lady from Pasadena and only driven to church on Sundays!".LOL Hope all is right when you pick it up. Let all of us know if we can help with questions. Paul
  7. Thank you Army. Where are you now? Are you still deployed in Afghanistan or are you convalescing somewhere, or maybe your home now?
  8. LOL...!! Thanks for the well wishes. I usually ask people to refer to me as "O, Omnipotent One, Lord and Master Over all He Surveys." Usually they just call me "Dumb S**t"....I think that's fair...lol
  9. Hello Clint! Thanks for joining the Lexus Owners Club. Hope you enjoy it. Please talk more about your thoughts re; the low profile tire safety. Paul
  10. I don't own a 400h, but I have had experience with other OEM DVD based nav systems. In my other car, a 2007, S80-Volvo, the nav system uses two disc. One disk has apprximately 1/2 of North America on it, the other disc has the other half. When I have purchased updates, the division of geography has been the same. I think this is because in 2007 the data density capability of the DVD was only so many bits and bytes, and it took two disk to squeze it on to. If your still using the same disk from 2006 it's a minor miracle you haven't ended up in Kalamazoo instead of Kansas. Road construction is ongoing and cities are constantly changing street names to honor "The Honorable So&So" or for new developments. I would guess the updates for your Tom-Tom aren't too cheap. At least they aren't on a Garmin. Bite the bullet and buy the upgrades. MASEACE has a good idea to try and reset the system;then add your new disks! Paul
  11. At this point it sounds as good as any other explanation!LOL
  12. That is so cool! I always wanted to get into S&M. (joke people)
  13. Hi Joe,and welcome to the LOC! I think G Man is correct. Your best bet is to simply ask your dealers Service Advisor since your RX350 is brand new and all of your questions are free.
  14. I hope I'm not butting in, but in reading the postings a question came to mind and I wondered what your responses would be. Assuming all things were equal between all three cars mentioned in the beginning; the same engine specs..horse power, cylinders, mpg, etc: the same curb weight, the same number of gears and ratios, the same 0-60 time, the same top end, the same fuel injection system, the same fuel type, the same color and type of paint with the same drag coefficient, you get the picture, Of the three, again ALL exactly like the other, which one would you buy.....Lexus...Merceds.....BMW?
  15. Thats been my experience too. The leasers really like to keep the miles around 12,000 or so and put a pretty hefty penalty on any miles over that, around .15 cents per mile.
  16. The Lexus steering wheels are made of hand selected wood, laminated to a metal core. Not plastic. My wife drives a luxury car with a leather covered wheel. I find it very comfortable. But over a long drive I prefer the wood and leather of the Lexus for its sure grip and hand cut-out fit. The LS460 offers a heated steering wheel as do other higher end Lexus models. I've attached a video of how the Lexus steering wheels are made. Good luck! https://secure.drive.../Steering-Wheel (I can't make this link work from this thread, although I know it works from anothe posting. I'm going to try and direct you to another site for this link. Please be patient.) Try this!! https://secure.drivers.lexus.com/lexusdrivers/magazine/articles/Vehicle-Insider/Steering-Wheel
  17. I appreciate all of the new technologies that help me react at a much faster and thus more reliable pace than I can. In addition to the makes that Jim mentioned, Volvo is marketing a sensor that detects a human in a cross walk , for example, or obstacle in front of the car, and brings it to a complete stop on it's own. Also, Volvo has the radar detection system for highway speed collision avoidance for the car in front of you, and they have the driver blind spot system in the drivers side mirror. The "override" factor, in my opinion, will be a problem to sell for a small segment of the driving market; The true driving enthusiast who wants to use the freeways and side roads as a road rally, young drivers who care about price and power more than safety, and finally, the truly price sensitive buyer, as all of this technology is going to be EXPENSIVE! Make the technology easy to use, practical, and affordable. Count me in. Paul
  18. Hi Nicole, Lest we forget, welcome to the Lexus Owners Club! Hope you will get your problem solved. By the way, before we get to far, do you use a automatic car wash? Paul
  19. Article says available inventory of used cars has shrunk so prices will be rising. Recommends buying sooner than latter. http://autos.aol.com/article/used-car-shopping-buy-sooner-rather-than-later/?icid=maing-grid10%7Chtmlws-main-bb%7Cdl10%7Csec1_lnk3%7C118310
  20. Is the truck yours from New or did you buy it as a pre-owned? I'm trying to ascertain if the stickers have always been there or did a previous owner put then there for some obscure reason. Just to let you know, this issue is so unique that I doubt we're going to have much luck getting a lot of response. I have never hear this issue come up before, although I haven't been around very long. Another avenue of inquiry you can try is to use the "Club Lexus" forum. It is a little larger group and may have some members we don't. Go to "clublexus.com"
  21. Unfortunately, you probably are not going to be able to avoid replacing the control panel. It would be a miracle if it was just a loose wire or bad solder joint. I don't have a ES300 book but there may be a fuse for those two buttons under the left side of the dash, against the drivers left foot wall. THIS IS A STRETCH. I'm not sure they are separately fused. A Lexus is an expensive car and can sometimes be expensive to repair. You may find a control panel on ebay or at a wrecker yard. As the other poster suggested, the dealer may allow you to apply the diagnostic labor charge to the labor for installing the new part. Let us know what you decide to do! Paul
  22. A reasonable question in retrospect. At the time I figured I had a problem with the AWD system since that was the error message which was staring me in the face. I have since talked to the owner of the company which pumps the fuel. They have not received any other complaints. They have a electronic sensor which looks for water in the tank every day between one and three in the morning. Those lights can be confusing. When just one comes on it is a good bet that it is that particular system that is acting up.However Lexus uses a combination of light warnings to signal different conditions. In your situation, just because the AWD light was on didn't necessarily mean the AWD was having a problem. The combination of the TRAC and AWD light obviously meant something else, and as far as I know, reading the codes is the only way to determine the problem. "Lexirx330" may know more about this than I do. (It's highly doubtful)LOL!!
  23. Does it look anything like this? There are several different volumes; Repair Manuals, Electrical Wiring Diagrams, New Car Features, Collision Repair, TSB/TT, etc, etc. Death!...I can't tell, but there is something different about you.....have you done something with your hair??
