  1. Wow David, that is awful!! I can only imagine how that felt when you walked in and saw that disaster! Was the break in a place where it damaged any computer data/records, or paper files? I know you have insurance for that type of thing, but how are they able to reconstruct all of those files and hard drives? Hopefully you back-up every day. My wifes hospital is new and was finished three years ago. Six months after two years of construction, it was a very cold January night. The entrance and main lobby of the hospital feature a ceiling to floor 20 ft wide water fall, a travertine fireplace, a coffee bar and a Grand Piano along with furniture. The phone rang that night for my wife to be told that a water supply line had broken flooding the lobby, down the main staircase and into the cafe and Admin offices. It took the contractors 3 months to repair and rebuild all the damage. It's still better than a tornadoe. Come back and let us know whats going on. Paul
  2. I like it, along with the RC Coupe. If you think about it, have you ever seen a BMW without that old, worn out front grille design? I like the fact that Lexus has finally listened to it's customers and made some style changes that match the 21st century. Paul
  3. Yes, you need to continue taking it in for all of it's sceduled maintenance. Not having the work performed can affect your warranty. Most Lexus cars come with a warranty for 4 years or 40,000 miles. All of this information is in your Owners Manual. Paul
  4. Hey David...EXCELLENT..... Lets see, here in the Midwest we notice that all "bad guy" movies and TV cop shows are always set in Mew York or L.A. Therefore, it's pretty simple to understand why we think anyone from the northeast coast is a crook or a murderer. So as I watch the "Sopranos" video I started to think about who do I know who lives out there? Who has their own insurance companies where lots of cash flows and fraudulant claims can be laundered, and finally, drives a Lexus, plus a HOG on the weekends? Yep...It's our goodfella David. Remember I love ya David and I live out in the middle of nowhere on the praire with no phone or traceable cell tower!!!! Your a great Friend thank goodness with a sense of humour. Paul12212
  5. Haven't found a video yet, but I was watching some Law & Order reruns, and in several episodes, when ever they were looking for someones car they would always say it was a Lexus! From what little I know about Hollywood, a placement mention like that still cost the manufacturer some healthy bucks. Now it seems the TV and Movie people are showing a LOT of BMW's and MB's. Paul
  6. Hi Karen and welcome to the Lexus Owners Club. I apologize for us being so late in getting to your question. I have no excuse but to say please forgive. Because your LX is so new there really isn't any "in use" history from which other members could say what exactly would be "Normal" oil pressure under normal driving conditions. The simplest way and most accurate and quickest way to find out, it to just pick up the phone and call the Service Advisors at your dealer. And if they don't know right away, they will ask their Master Mechanic. Every dealer has one. The Master Mechanic at my dealer has been there since 1989. The year the first Lexus was born!!! Also, I'm not familiar with the LX -2014 manual, but does the Owners Manual cover any information about which gauge means what? Come back and let us know how things turn out. Paul
  7. Hence forth, this phenomena shall be called, "David's Theorem". This theorem is derived from the postulate that HAS been proven, that every time you buy a newer car, your payments continue to go up and up. I have a feeling my friend David, that like every other Lexus dealer, there is a sign above the showroom door saying, "Abandon hope all ye who enter Here......" LOL Paul
  8. A very, very cool ride.....it looks like it's going 80 while its standing still. Congratulations
  9. Thanks Bob. Thats fine. With this information someone should be able to come up with some possibilities and things that may have been over looked. I find it very hard to believe how you can take apart the whole transmission at $4,000. a whack, then claim you can't find the little problem it was brought in for.
  10. Hi Bob, we're glad your here, Welcome to the world of "Drive Thru" car service. I'm not sure my heart can take it but may I ask how much have you given AAMCO so far. It really doesn't make any differance but some educations are more exspensive than others.LOL First, you don't say how many miles you have on your 2001 RX300. That is very importanr. Secondly, have you been the only owner? If so, has it had any transmission repair before? If you bought it used, do you have any of the service records from the previous owner? What other repairs or maint. has it had? Has it ever been in a collision? Try to collect that information as best you can. I know it seems like a lot, but when your fellow club members try to figure out the problem we don'r have the benefit of looking at your tranny up close and personal. Come back when your ready. Paul
  11. This topic is like energy. It never goes away, doesn't die, and just when you think you've seen the last of it, it pops up in yet another form of energy. Since 1972, I have leased, bought, leased, bought used, and any combination there-of, including 2013 when I went ahead and just paid cash for both our 2013 RX and 2013 ES. Every one has their own system/ prefered method for determining what is the best way to get the best car deal., and regardless of what others say, at some point it's best to listen to all, narrow down what matches your expectation and resorces and make a desision. INMO, The choice of a Lexus is a good decision. (I do not work for the company. I and everyone in the club are dedicatied volunters) Good luck, Paul
  12. This may be worth exactly what it cost... I would CALL Sewell Lexus in Dallas TX. and tell them what your needing, and let them tell you if what you've found will work or not. Sewell Lexus is a large Lexus dealer in Texas with more than one location. They are on our list of approved vendors for LOC club members. If you call or contact them by WEB, be sure to tell them you are a member of the Lexus Owners Club, Norrth America. They give our members excellent discounts. Other members swear by them. I think I'd call first so you can talk back and forth about the small details. Paul
  13. Hi Arthur and welcome to the Lexus Owners Club. I'm not quite sure about your question.......Lexus did put a silver tone accent strip along the very bottom of the door. But if memory serves me, that accent piece was not added to the ES350 until 2010. It also was placed on the 2011, 2012. The ES350 does NOT have the bright trim and I wish it did. It looks sharp. My guess is that Lexus will do what they did before with the ES350.......wait a few years, put on the trim, and call it "Refreshed". LOL Now there is every reason to believe I could be wrong. But I've owened a 2005, a 2010, and a 2013 ES350 and I'm pretty confident about the years and trim additions. Many people have put on the aftermarket products and have been very happy. Look for solid material, not Mylar, and a good warranty. Check out some body shops. Comeback and let us know how things turn out.
  14. Your oh so right Nicole. Its like all new technologies, advances in manufacturing times, even when it was finaly proven that those in the industry of producing raw fibers for the making of many types of cloth, could actually "raise and control the quality and quantity of silk threads. These "break throughs" are always laden with high exspense because someone had to put in a great deal of money to supply the inventors and developers funds to pay for all those salaries and enevitable failures. I have never been able to decide whether we, meaning humans, are just naturaly afraid of whats new, or suspicious of something which at first we don't quite understand. Something I imagine would be like the Sudanese "Lost Boy's" segment shown on "60 Minutes" Sunday night, January 20, 2014. These boys had never seen a light bulb. And were nervous about touching the light switch that made the bulb go on and off. They had never seen a toilet and could'nt figure it out. But they giggled little children as they stood there and watched the water go round and round. Maybe the most perplexing thing for "The Lost Boys" was understanding the need for a fork or spoon. As a way of coping with so much stress and beeing taken from a barbarian war zone where they were being burchered and slaugtered by the 100's/ , half way around the world. Being cautious is a good thing. Being irrational or fearing to the point of paranoia is not good. All of us here on the LOC know that we are a little like the "Lost Boy's from Sudan. This decade ahead is going to be filled with lighting speed technology movement. All of us members will have a big advantange in that as we ccontinue to exchange information and lend a hand to one another, we will be far better equiped to be ready for what ever the automotive world thinks up. Paul
  15. Tesla.........all electric, 0-60 in under 3 seconds. And Looks very cool. I see one in my future if I ever move off the "Little House on the Prairie !" Paul
  16. Hi Jess and welcome to the Lexus Owners Club. Frankly, this is a new one to me. I've had 3 ES350's, all with satellite Lexus factory radio and didn't even know there was and IS such a thing as Parental Control! You say SirusXM dosen't know anything about it. Thats dumb. They have to know about it. They are the ones that are streaming the programing to your receiver. The SAT receiver in your car is really no different than a car radio from years back. You turn it on and tune it to a station you want to listen to. Same with SAT radio, except your signal comes to your radio from up in the sky. Your receiver does not have ANY pre-programed material in it. I suggest contacting XM again and insisting you talk with a technian, not a sales rep. Also, call Lexus Customer Care for some extra Calvary. I've put the link below. This has to go in the Clubs "It came from Outer Space" category and filed under "say what"???? Please come back and let us know how things are going. Paul
  17. If anyone thinks leasing or financing an automoble has a potential advantage over the other will be sadly dissipointed. Purchasing a car is one of those things in life that you will always loose money on. All purchase venues are for the use of the buyer because most of us , (except Jim) do not have enough cash to plunk down and buy the car. So it's payments plus interest. IMHO, either save up the full amount in cash, or take a deep breath and get over the fact that every time you buy a car your going to loose money.
  18. Hi Donna and Welcome First, on behalf of the Club, please accept our apologee for not answering your question when you first posted it 5 days ago. That is not the type of support we want to give to our members. Even though the LOC is staffed by volunters, we pride ourselves on being friendly, welcoming, and most important, having lots of accurate information. Of the over 150,000 members in North America and some over seas, we have finaly been gaining ground attracting women Lexus enthusiust. There are MANY women Lexus owners all across the USA. Their needs are sometimes differant than those of the "gear head" guys on here simply due to the traditional way a girl was brought up. That is, when you get married let your hubby take care of it! LOL There are not a whole lot of things that can make a significant differance in the feel of the ride, most of which you've already mentioned. Tires and the amount of inflation makes a big difference. Struts is another item, if worn, can make a big differance. However, front struts usually last a long time, ( up into 75,000 miles maybe), and since you've only got about half of that mileage I would say that would be the last thing to suspect. Another item to look at is the "Air Suspension" system. This feature replaces the traditional coiled spring and strut/shock absorber for the ride control. The amount of air in the struts is monitered and replenished with a air compressor under the hood. If your RX came from the factory with this feature I suppose it's possible that it could have stoped working correctly. The compressor may have an air leak or have blown a fuse. Your owners manual has a pictorial of all the fuse's in your car and where there located and their type and size. If the RX does not have the Air Suspension, It then has just the standard spring and strut configuration. Finaly. Of all possible suspects, tires are way out in first place, ahead of any other possibilities. That's why I'm really stumped about your situation. Did the rough ride begin before you put on new tires? Did the mechanics balance the tires correctly i.e.," road force balance"? Have you had the front end alignment checked while the rough ride started or after the new tires were put on? At this point I don't know what else to recommend. I think some other people with chime in here and add some more information. Please come back and let us know whats going on so we can learn also. Paul
  19. I see a Target Store in your future!! Have a great week my friend. LOL Bond....., James Bond
  20. HaHa!! Per usual your in your best form.LOL Should fate throw us into another "Polar Vortex", lets hope it takes all the copies of "Batman" with it. I took the comments of the speaker to mean that regardless of the attempts of auto manufacurers to theft proof their cars, there appears to always be away to hack around it and continue the process of Grand Theft Auto. Now I suppose if you were the James Bond type, which I'm pretty sure I look like him, I can see hacking your nemis car to go off a cliff at the preciss moment but still save the girl. Another happy ending.LOL
  21. Hi Dennis and welcome to the Club! I want to offer an additional check to make sure your dealer is on the right track. Not that I think he's in error, but I think you might feel better if you had an opinion from one other source. There is a Lexus dealer in Dallas, TX. Sewell Lexus, who does a large volume of business selling new Lexus parts. A few months ago, I lost my spare fob for my 2013 ES350. My local dealer wanted $320. for a new fob. Sewell had the same part for $160. Part of the reason for the huge difference is that when you sign-on to Sewell's web-site they ask if you belong to this Club or others. Just check yes and you'll get an excellent discount. You can order on-line from Sewell and also talk to one of their Customer Service people. You may have a problem with the software program in the fob, and in fact that may be why your battery is draining. It maybe locked in an "ON" position all the time. If you buy a new fob, your dealer will have to program it for you. No sweat. It's only around $35.00. Come back and let us know whats going on! Paul Sewellparts.com
  22. I am impressed!!! Larry, Moe, and Curly, have nothing on you guys. Seriously, with the support and warranty you received from "The Erector Set Company" and their customer service reps. your in good shape. lol (forgive me, I'm just in one of those moods tonight. It's a great write up and I know that many of the members would love to see more of these types of tutorials in the "Search" base - and help function. Paul
  23. Hi Anthony and welcome back. At the moment I'm out of answers for you, but hopefully someone will chime in today with some help for you. Paul
  24. I installed an 8"inch sub with a seperate Amp. It makes all the differance in the performance of the system. Members have frequently observed that the Levinson system has always been weak on low end response. With this change in the configuration I think you'll hear a huge difference. Paul
