  1. No, you are far from stupid. I look at it more like, "what is it suppose to be?" lol My thinking is that Lexus is trying to provide a space that presents not just a car but a life-style environment. A similar idea might be the airline "VIP" lounges. The lounges at the minimum create lots of comfortable club chairs, a buffet of unlimited use, and a full bar. Soft drinks are free. Personnel keep the lounge neat and they also have persons that can change your flights, track wait times if your flight is delayed, and check for cheaper tickets. All of this provides an intersection where the vendor and customer come together. The vendor wants to provide an environment that says you own a beautiful luxury car so this is the type of upscale luxury environment you belong in. Vendors know repeated contact emphasizing the luxury life and their Luxury Lexus membership will make their customers remember how much great driving they enjoy from a reliable Lexus . Paul
  2. This is a new review of the new 2016 RX family. It was in the "Wall Street Journal" on 12/10/2016. I also posted this review in the RX forum. Read it and please let the rest of us hear your opinion or comments. If I messed things up and some of the content seems to be missing just go to the RX forum and find the complete posting. All of us look forward to hearing your feedback. Paul http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/topic/88715-2016-rx-wall-st-j-review/#entry490688
  3. The new RX family has been widely praised. With the additional rumored third seat it would probablly put RX sales in orbit. (Remember that the RX has been the most popular Lexus model since it was introduced around the early: The 3rd row has been shelved.) This review offers a thorough and balanced look at the new RX family. The most important part of any review however is your opinion. For example, my wife drives a 2013 RX350. She uses it primarily for commuting to work and back, and on the weekend for doing errands. There for the auto pre-colision system is not a big thing for her but she loves the blind spot mirror feature and wouldn't buy a new car without it. I naturally placed this story in the RX forum since your the folks that have the most insight. I will also paste it in the General Chat forum. Please tell us your opinion or put any questions you might have and even those things you think ought to be changed or added. We're looking forward to hearing from you! 4. This thread touches on a similar topic suggesting the possibility of a bad ECU. Don't know if this will help but it's food for thought. Paul http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/topic/87788-dash-lights-turn-off-when-i-turn-headlights-on/
  5. These photos show off the second location for a Lexus "Intersect". The first to open was in Japan and now the second one has opened in Dubai. The Intersects create a sense of the Lexus goal to be a part of the present as well as the technology of tomorrow. The article and photo layout shows the Lexus many facets of the lifestyle of the 21st Century. Paul What do you think? https://lexusenthusiast.com/2015/12/09/new-intersect-by-lexus-location-opens-in-dubai/
  6. Hi Mary and welcome to the Club. Yes. You absolutely can order a new car equipped any way you want. Two years ago we purchased an RX 350 and a ES 350, both 2013 editions. I wanted real leather in mine so that one did have to be ordered. The delivery time was about 6 weeks from Japan to Des Moines. I think I'm right about this, but the Kentucky Lexus ES 350 factory should be in operation by now. If that is true it should cut the delivery time from Kentucky to New Jersey by a huge amount. To frame the picture better, we paid cash (that paper stuff) for both cars. We have a fantastic dealer here and over the years I just get more and more impressed with the way they treat their customers. This is important: If the sales person say's he has to talk to the inventory manager tell them "Thats great, I'll go with you and then I'll be able to make some notes." The same holds true with talking to the sales manager or finance person. Also, if they continue to push you into a lease ,that's not necessarily bad. Leasing can be a good choice IF the front and end payments in the contract terms meet your " buy out" However, if you can pay cash it is the cheapest ways to go. IMO lol Please come back and let us know Paul
  7. Hi Mohammad and welcome. One issue in solving your problem will be the cost and sourcing the parts. Jim can probably give you excellent information. Perhaps ebay or salvage yards. Many of us have always loved the "quiet" cabin of a Lexus product. My wife drives a 2013 RX and I am surprised how quiet it is . With the large tires and suspension I just assumed it would be like a pick-up truck. Please come back and let us know how things are going. Paul
  8. I'm going to sell everything I own and buy one of these! This LF-LC is just what Lexus needed to say to the auto world out there, "We came to win, not just play. And, we brought our lunch just in case you think you can wear us down." I maybe a little to enthused, but I can't see how this model can't sell. Yes , the price is steep but right in there with Mercedes's and BMW. If I can ever afford one I'll die a happy man. LOLP Paul http://us1.campaign-archive1.com/?u=c8d07861212a6ff83112f89f7&id=eb2c3d5442&e=03d7a
  9. Japan has purchased more of the new RX's in one month than they usually sell in the entire year!!! Check-out the new color....."Nightfall Blue/Mica. Paul https://lexusenthusiast.com/2015/12/03/orders-for-new-lexus-rx-in-japan-exceed-yearly-sales-goal/
  10. This car looks like it's already using all 8 of those cylinders. With the 10 speed transmission, it should be able to kick butt anytime. This LC will be on display at the Detroit Auto Show in January, ready to be roll- ed out the factory doors. IMO, this body style, using sharp, angular lines, is the best match yet for the spindle styled grill. There looks to be some use of MB styling and the Ford Fusion. Yes, you heard me right......a Ford Fusion. Besides the Fusion there are many cars with different badges that have some striking cool looks. Is the LC going to be on your "next buy" list? Paul https://lexusenthusiast.com/2015/12/04/lexus-to-debut-lc-500-and-lc-500h-coupe-at-detroit-auto-show/
  11. Sense this application began, and ,partially still is, as a global military network, I have always felt it was kind of cool for the government to actually share something we paid for. (that came out more cynical then I expected.) All nav. vendors put out new information for download to update the maps and coordinates. Lexus seems to do it every two years or so. It is not Lexus that makes this program or updates. When we travel we take along the Lexus nav, a Garmin with voice commands, and my wife's I Phone with it's GPS app. It is entertaining to listen to all three give three different routes. In the end all three will get you there BUT, they do not know anything about highway construction. If were depending on the GPS to note every little burp in the road your going to be sorely disappointed. Denny, I am with you on the one habit the Lexus system has. That's the tendency to tell you the wrong side of the street or building when you reach your destination. Paul
  12. Lots of pics to show off new color and config. https://lexusenthusiast.com/2015/12/04/photo-gallery-the-2016-lexus-rx-in-blue-nightfall-mica/
  13. I think they said up front that they would build only 125 (?) or so and then put it on the back burner while building a new model using the incredible amount of technology that keeps pouring out of auto research. PJ
  14. I hope that Lexus quickly drops the pick-up idea. Trying to be all things to all people seldom works out. Just the shear mayhem of trying to keep every model full of all the new technologies every year would cost a fortune in plant and equipment. Additionally, recruiting and keeping the very best and brightest engineers, software developers, and designers willing to move to Japan could be a tough task. Paul
  15. Boy, do I feel stupid. I've never heard of IR beams any where on the car. Would you please be gentle and edcutate me on the topic? Thank you, Paul
  16. Here is the latest figures sales results, year-to-date for all Lexus models. I'm suprised at some of the results such as the drop in RX sales. I imagine that could be fixed by December holiday traffic. Any thoughts on the numbers up or down? Paul https://lexusenthusiast.com/2015/12/01/lexus-november-2015-sales-report/
  17. Hey Billy. Do you know what models and years had the problem with the bad wiring in the trunk hinges? How were your Thanksgiving holiday(s)? Thank you Sir. Paul
  18. Hi Howard and glad your here. You should have no problems with replacing the rear-deck sub. The problem probably is the material around the upper frame that vibrates with the rest of the cone. They just get old and brittle and either tear or pull away from the mount. If it is a small tear it can some times be repaired with glue/ adhesive. Look this repair up in the data base. There are some post with photos. I don't know what impedance the speakers were in 2001. My guess is 4 ohms. With Lexus, it is important that the installer makes sure the speaker matches the cross-over network. This speaker is a mess to get out. You can't remove it from the trunk. The back rest of the rear seat has to come out then the package shelf must either be taken off or sometime just pried up enough to pull the speaker out. Since this tends to be a common problem on earlier models I would suggest doing a search of our data base for information on other members experience. I don't know from experiance, but there may be a video on "You Tube" Let us know how it goes. Paul
  19. Hi Angel B and welcome to the Club. My first thought is to check your coverage on your auto insurance and your home owners policy, as well as any rental insurance. Yes, unfortunately, when you drive an expensive car they are also expensive to repair.!! Other members have used other brands of replacement glass but have had issues with waves in the glass and ill fitting. Another item is that by using the OEM product, the tint in the glass will match the other windows. One more thing. Lexus uses a material to reduce wind noise and help keep the cabin quiet. Back to the insurance. Insurance is so expensive that many people choose a large deductible and there by missing out on these type of repairs. However, call your agent and ask if there is coverage for these situations when the damage was caused by a criminal act. I know I'm rambling but other members will probably chime in and offer more suggestions. Please come back and let us know how things are going. Paul
  20. Hi threepwood. This is one of those things that make you wish you'd paid attention in shop class. LOL In trying to think this through, it's not clear if the lights were all on Before the battery drained. If that's the case it would seem it's not a battery/charging problem . However, if the lights only came on After the battery went dead, then I wonder if something else within the whole engine/electrical or ECU system went south. You guys who are the experts, does this sound like something that took a hit and if one of the processors would need to be rebooted or replaced? Paul
  21. I was surprised when I saw that this topic had risen from the dead. Given the amount of time since the first posting I thought that all of you had won buckets full of cash to assuage your egos. Most people who purchase hybrids do so after much research. If that is true here, all of you found the oxymoron of hybrids which is, they get worse gas mileage at highway travel and Interstate speeds. I've never heard a good explanation as to why this is, but it makes no sense. I have read in several sources that this is a common problem, including hybrids by other manufacturers. This combination of reverse mpg has frustrated many owners. I do not see the prior intent to defraud the Lexus customer. This is not another Volkswagen industrial bait & switch. In reading the results of other class action suits, the customer gets around .25 cents on the dollar while the Lawyers take the rest. What would you sue for? How damaged have you been? Why not sell the thing and get a lot more money out of the situation. Good luck Paul
  22. First, I apologize for the model mistake when I said New Coupe. This posting is about the new GS F and it's roll-out to the dealers is ready to come to your dealers. The car looks fantastic and with all the technology packed in, it should be a great machine. Only one draw back.....the $85,000 big ones for the privilege of driving it home. After you look at the link (below) put in your two cents. Do you think this GS F will sell at such a price? Paul http://www.lexus.com/models/GSF
  23. Jason, as I was reading Denny's thread I remembered that there is a great Lexus dealer in Dallas, TX. Their name is "Sewell Lexus". They have a huge parts business, and many times members have found difficult to locate parts. I am not 100% on accessories for older models. But, if they don't have it they may be willing to give you some additional leads. If you buy something, be sure and tell them you are an LOC member. In the past, they have given us a good discount. However, I'm not sure if that is still in effect. I'll check with Steve in the UK and verify what the current situation is. Paul
  24. Hi Jason! I'm afraid I won't be of much help right away. Most members have the best luck using ebay. Or surfing salvage yards or part restorers. I'm sure others will chime in here and be of more help. Paul
