  1. The new LS for 2018!!!!! This is the most incredible LS ever from Lexus. Just the photos of the interior puts you in the cabin of your own private jet. A possible introduction is dashboard control by just waving your hand. Would you be tempted to buy your own? Paul https://mail.aol.com/webmail-std/en-us/suite
  2. Hi Diane and welcome to the Club. That's a strange problem to have especially from a brand new RX. Other members, including myself, virtually have no problems with our's.Probably the best thing to do is have the dealer download the trouble/service codes to see if the cars internal maintenance computer has logged a trouble code that shows something wrong with the transmission software, or the engine control software. If you have already done this and they haven't found the trouble, have them give you in writing what steps they will take next and what they will do if they are unable to fix the problem. Lexus dealers are by and large professional, helpful, and good to work with.Do you feel that your problem is being taken seriously? Have you had to contact the Lexus Customer Service line? (You can contact Lexus Customer Service by going to "LexusCustomerservice.com" There is also a Lexus service line if your having a problem with your dealer and feel that your problem is not being taken seriously, or the dealer is just giving you the run around. It is difficult to have Lexus or the dealer go so far as to replace the car. It is expected that the dealer should be able to fix almost any problem and therefore they need to try every thing to solve your trouble before resorting to a new car. Please come back and let us know how things are progressing and what problem they've uncovered. Paul
  3. Hi Duane and welcome to the Club. I'm not familiar with that year of SC. It sounds like you may have already done a search of our data base. If not, that would be a good idea. Also, I remember over the years this problem coming up before. If my memory is working, you have to pull back the fabric that covers over the bulb and interior of the lens. Others will come along and probably have some more knowledge about the problem. I hope we can help you solve your question. Paul
  4. Hi gears and welcome. I apologize for no one getting back to you sooner. First, I just had a similar problem with my remote starter. The FOB quit working so I went to a battery store and got it replaced. The next day I still could't get the starter to work. I stopped in my dealer and explained the problem. They took out the new batteries and put the meter to them. Dead as a door nail. They put new batteries in an it's worked great ever since. However, your situation is different The cause and correction are somewhat of a mystery. First, in your owners manual should be a diagram of all the outside antenna's and their effective range. For example. The doors, on both sides have different antenna's, and the trunk has it's own antenna and range diagram. I don't know if all the antenna's run off the same circuit,( fuse;s) but I suppose it's possible a problem with those circuits could be involved.. But that doesn't explain why just the drivers door is weak. Do other FOB features work? Such as holding down the unlock button for 5 seconds or so, then all the windows go down and the doors unlock. This is supposed to be operable from about 25 - 30 feet. The last idea is that the proximity detector has some sort of issue. Here again, if it works when you touch the door handle that would seem to rule that out. Now that I've wasted your time with no help to give, I would just call my dealer and explain your problem and ask if they have seen this before. They are usually very willing to help and not pressure you for an appt.. . Please come back and let us know what you find out. Paul
  5. As the man says in his opinion piece, I bet there are many of us with the same phobia. I just spent $60 having the scratches on my car retouched. The way I look at is that all cars are a steadily depreciating asset. One way to keep that depreciation as slow as possible is to keep your Lexus as close to like new as possible. I had a conversation last week with a good friend of mine who is a sales person at our local Lexus dealer. I asked him the question about allowing more for a cherry Lexus trade in. He said that in most cases it doesen't raise the trade-in value. However, it does insure you'll get the full market value. If at the time your thinking of trading, the biggest incentive for a really good deal is when the dealer is low on pre-owned cars. When you pull up with your shiny Lexus they want your car badly. A gently used Lexus can make them more money than the actual sale of a new Lexus. P.S. If you have a chance, go to your dealers and check-out the new RC-F. Wow! It is an incredible sports car with all kinds of racing goodies. I'll try to find a photo layout and paste it here. https://lexusenthusiast.com/2016/01/17/lexus-ct-f-sport-owners-blog-the-parking-rules/ Paul
  6. Your probably going to need to take your car to a reputable car audio shop. The whole head unit may need to be replaced. In a situation such as this, Lexus does not repair the unit but replace it. There is an excellent shop in New York called United Radio ( http://www.unitedradio.com/automotive-electronics/ ) They are able to do repair work which can save some money. Other members have reported good results with their repairs. Paul
  7. Hi Jim, It looks like no one knows the answer. However, the easiest way to find out would be to call the Lexus dealer near you and explain your question. I would be sure they would be happy to help. Ask for the parts department. Another option would be the Toyota Information Services.. This is a rental service. You can get access to the data base for $15.00 for 48 hours. This sight has darn near any and everything you can think of. All components and systems are covered. This site also includes Toyota and Scion. Just go to TIS.com. Let us know how things go. Paul
  8. Your point about coverage for electronics is an interesting one. I have not seen nor read any statistics on digital vs. standard parts such as brakes, fuel injection, alternator, etc. A few years ago my wife had a Volvo S80. I took it in to the dealer plus the other maker remote starter I had purchased. It took them 3 days to get the job done. The Volvo had 36 ECUs in it. Trying to marry the two systems turned out to be a nightmare. The LS uses fiber optic cable for certain reasons. The new models here and coming for 2016 will have more digital components than ever before. I've been impressed with the cruise and vehicle distance device. But, my guess is that there would be a nifty amount of software developed to make that work. Expensive part?? Paul
  9. Ditto Jim... Lexus has been chosen by Consumer Reports 5 years in a row for being the most reliable brand. In addition, JD Power's has also named Lexus as best in customer satisfaction. The extended warranties are VERY profitable to the dealer. In particular, they allow the sales person to earn extra commission. I've always felt that Lexus makes a huge mistake in peddling this product. As you shop the staff is quick to point out the excellent reliability of the car, but then they put on their actuary clothes and tell you, "if it were me, just to feel safe, I'd buy extra insurance on that thing." If the buyer doesn't pick up on the schizoid message then they'll likely lay out the cash instead of putting it somewhere it can do more good. (How about the Caribbean?). Regarding your question about service . It is impossible to come to any kind of an estimate. First, where is the dealer located? If it's in New York City your cost will be much higher than Des Moines, Iowa. Factor hourly pay for technician. The Tech in New York earns a much higher hourly wage than here in Iowa. Where do parts come from? Is there a huge warehouse in every burrow. Again shipping cost to those dealers will be higher. If cost is a very important concern for you I would remember your CPO warranty, and the Lexus reputation for quality. However, I keep saying this but some people still act surprised. This is an expensive luxury product. Expensive cars can be expensive to repair. Enjoy your new RX. We've had ours for right at 3 years. We love it! Paul
  10. Once again Consumer Reports has made Lexus the number #1 car brand in the country. Nice to know that people like us make great decisions. LOL Paul http://www.autoblog.com/photos/consumer-reports-best-new-car-brands/?icid=maing-grid7|main5|dl33|sec3_lnk4%26pLid%3D-1776107827#slide-3565481
  11. To each and every one of you our very best wishes for very happy holidays. As always, every one on your staff look forward to another year of working and serving our LOC family. Paul
  12. Hi Fredie, Sounds like you don't have a second fob. I don't know the answer for your year and model. I suggest you call a Lexus dealer and ask your question. Also you can go to Lexus.com for a live chat with Lexus customer service. Maybe someone else here will chime in with more knowledge. Let us know how things turned out. Paul
  13. Something just for fun. I'll take my standard snow and ice tires thank you.
  14. What...??? Not believe you?...Of course I believe you. I never believed that rumor that you did 10 - 12 in a super max prison for smuggling Sugar Plum Fairies. LOL I am always puzzled by the hodge- podge of different octane fuels around the states. Here our premium is always 91. I know that the oil companies change their formulation during the year for each season. But why the difference in octane? Happy Holidays, Paul
  15. For the 5th year in a row, Kelley Blue Book has named Lexus as the top luxury brand for resale value. Yes, our cars are expensive, but this proves you can't beat quality. Paul https://lexusenthusiast.com/2015/12/15/lexus-dominates-kbb-2016-best-resale-value-awards/
  16. At this point in time, Lexus is planning on 2017 to begin manufacturing the new LC-Coupe. The article explains the reason they want to make a world class racing car, but priced against the consideration of German and Italian models. It appears that Lexus has really come around to an aggressive plan for the new models with their aggressive styling and marketing. The LC-C will be built close to the LFA facilities and Lexus will only make something around 2,000 a year. After reading the link-article, please come back with your thoughts and opinions about this continuing roll out of head turning world class motor cars. Post your thoughts please. Paul https://lexusenthusiast.com/2015/12/14/more-information-on-the-upcoming-lexus-lc-coupe/
  17. I am very sorry to hear all that your carrying on your shoulders. We have a similar situation with our son-in-Laws father. He is in Hospice at home as well. It is amazing sometimes to find out how many members on this site are fighting many of the same battles. Just log on to the Char Room and keep us up to date. Paul
  18. Hi Raymond and welcome to the Club. Thanks for the suggestion. Paul
  19. Hi Robert and welcome! Wow!....I unfortunately have no answer for you. You have done everything that I would have done. Checking the fuses in the engine compartment was the right thing to do as well. You might be wise to just go ahead and replace the old fuse's. After all there 14 years old. Are you able to get to the wiring that goes to the mirrors or behind the mirror? You first need to know if there is power up to the motors. Then you'll be able to really get moving. Paul
  20. Hi D, This question is probably the most frequent one asked by many owners. Prior to 2010 (I'm not 100% on the exact year so flow with me) Lexus car owners were advised to use premium gas. Then in 2010/2011, Lexus made a change for all models to use 87% fuel is so wished. Since then, the owners manuals read that 87% is fine and no problems with warranty issues if the car had only used 87%. I believe that the models with V8's are still required to use premium. I'm probably like you in that with gas prices what they are, I burn 91% premium. Now, does it go faster? No. Is the mileage any better? No. But I have a lot of pride in my ES. Enough that I give it the best of everything and fortunately I don't have to worry about the dime or more when giving it a drink. Paul
  21. Should we manufacture 8,500 RX's or 10,000 for 2015? This is a rare look into how and why Lexus decides how many models to make and in what quantities. Surprisingly, it has a lot to do not only with sales and growth, but making sure people think luxury and reliability when they hear the Lexus name. I think this is an interesting look at the luxury world of Lexus. What do you think? Do you agree or disagree with the philosophy. Paul http://us1.campaign-archive1.com/?u=c8d07861212a6ff83112f89f7&id=38f2c69fdd&e=03d7af6b56#mcto
  22. My point exactly! Just time for a change I guess. LOL
  23. It was last year or early this year, some of us started a discussion on what makes a luxury car a luxury car? With every person asked there was a different concept on what luxury meant. For myself, I'm not sure it can have a cut and dried definition. For example, upscale restaurants that have Mac & Cheese on their menu next to the Escargot w/ Shaved Truffles appetizer. I imagine that if you asked the companies that specialize in luxury product target audiences, and focus groups, they could give you a capsule list of perceptions from customers. But my bet is on how much something cost. With your example Becki of the LV creations, my wife would say, "what a waste of money just to have something to carry your phone!! On the flip side, you can never spend to much on home furnishings. (we've had our present granite counter top for two years. Guess what we're replacing next month. Here's another flip...our daughter would probably work a garbage route if they would pay her in purses.
