  1. Hi Jason! One thing I thought of after reading your thread, would be to do a search of our data base and maybe getting some information on what others have chosen for replacement speakers, amp's, and other components. Paul
  2. Hi Jason and welcome. I love my music as well, and appreciate a quality system. My 2013 ES350 has the standard head unit and amp. I installed a small sub-woofer for the trunk, in order to fill and smooth out the low end.It made a world of difference. Using the limited 3 phase equalizer, I can adjust the tonal range for good listening. I know the Mark Levinson is pricey, but for some one like you, an audiophile, I don't know that you will ever be happy. One thing to remember. The Levinson is a fully matched system. All speakers have matching cross-overs, The amplifier, head unit, and each of the 18 speakers cannot be replaced unless it has the same spec's as the OEM Please come back Jason and let us know how things are going. Paul
  3. Hi Arthur and welcome. I'm sorry someone hasn't replied sooner. I have leased cars several times and have been pleased with the experience. However, in order to make a lease work well, you need a set of circumstances that match the specifics of the lease. As the automobile industry has grown so to the amazing technology features they offer along with the cost of those gadgets. This has made us car buyers who purchase or lease based only how much the monthly payment is. First, calculate the MSRP of the GS brand new. You can then subtract or add what ever additional cost will be involved. The lease will require proof of insurance, or you could be required to buy the insurance through the dealer. You should not have to pay the annual license fee sense you don't own the car. Remember a lease spells out a residual value that the car will be worth when you turn it in. If that amount is less, the lease holder will be looking to you for a great explanation or for you to open your wallet. As you already know, the lease will also have a limited number of miles and months. Leasing is a good way to go when your needs meet the leases requirement. In fact, if you drive often and put on 15,000 miles or more a year it can give you a well worked car every 3 years or more. Also I think there are still some tax deductions for leasing. This situation looks like a great car and some financial benefits. Either way, just don't look at the monthly payment amount. Add all the cost for each choice and then make your decision. Write back and let us know how things turn out. Paul
  4. I think your right Jim. Over the past 15 years or so, the buyers who have purchased the RX have been those with a need for a little more space when traveling or running errands that need room for hauling more than a gallon of Milk. The true SUV's are the big Yukon's, Suburban and so on. The most interesting thing to me is the most important feature named by both female and male drivers is the higher view of the road, and the feeling of more control and visibility. I have heard this comment from every female RX owner I've ever talked with. That being said, the higher visibility might be off-set by the feeling of driving a truck if a third row was added. When talking about luxury SUV's and "cross overs" I go back to the glory days of the "Hummer"! Now there was a collection of ideas that just begged to fail. It went for the guy with the gun rack hanging in the cab, the ability to compete in the state fair tractor pull, a plush cabin with lots a comfort for "The Wife". Lost of cargo room and a power train that mandated you pull a rail road tanker of gas to make sure you can get across town. IMO, the hummer was almost too much in a market that still wanted to have luxury but luxury they could afford. Whether big "L" decides to build a third row RX or not. I agree they might be better of doing a make-over of the LX. The LX has a face that only a Mother could love. Paul ( I reserve the right to be wrong, but not for you to point it out to me.) lol
  5. Weird people?.......Who's weird people?......We don't need no stinking weird people!! (Doesn't really do justice to Bogart and his Mexican bandits.) Paul
  6. One of my disappointments. Your both right. Many times we put in serious efforts to understand the problem, try and clarify terms or descriptions the poster wrote, and then offer our expertise that may result in a success. You two and the other 157,000 members, provide a valuable service to all. But what I don't understand is just the opposite of the problem you mentioned. Everyday there are dozens of new post. As I scroll through the "Latest Post" category, (this may not be accessible to non-management members.) there will often be a post that may have 60, 75, 90, even 125 views but absolutely no reply's. It's true that not everyone can offer help, but they can at least put up a thread saying welcome and that someone should chime in soon. I've tried to encourage those who are looking for advice or just a friendly chat, to come back and let us know how things turned out and that we all learn by hearing whether we were helpful or way of track. Paul
  7. There has been a lot of talk about a 3 row (7 seat) RX, but the current information says this configuration has been put on hold. The article attached gives a good outline of what Lexus is using as help in making this a "go or no go" decision. Given the long time success the RX has enjoyed, many of you 157,000 members might have some feedback for Lexus. Look over the information using the below link and post your opinions on the subject. If we get enough good postings/threads, maybe we can send them to Lexus and see what they have to say! Paul https://lexusenthusiast.com/2015/11/03/lexus-three-row-crossover-put-on-ho
  8. Hi John and welcome. I've never heard of this. However, dealers are interdependent and could probably do what they want. Paul
  9. Sorry about that!!! https://lexusenthusiast.com/2015/11/06/2016-lexus-rx-now-arriving-at-usa-dealerships/ Now that youve seen it, what do you think?
  10. Here are the photos of the brand new 2016 RX350 as it rolls-out into dealers. Check out my comments at the link and let me know your comments. Paul http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/topic/88354-the-all-new-rx-350-photos/
  11. The new 2016 is here and what an exciting, bold look for the king of Lexus most popular selling model. I think it is just what the line needed when you consider the RX has used the basic same body for over 10 years. I like the sharp creases in the metal, and the layout of the dash board. But, there is one thing I cannot ignore, and that is the front "Grill". To me, it looks like a Humpback whale when it has it's mouth wide open and filtering Krill through it's curtain of "Teeth". Check out the photos and let us know what your comments are. https://mail.aol.com/webmail-std/en-us/suite Have a good week everyone! Paul
  12. What a cool car Billy. When my oldest brother was out of High School, he bought a Plymouth coupe which looked alot like your car.
  13. Hi Andrew and welcome to the Club! I won't try to apologize for the "in your face" comments". We are a Club that appreciates all things Lexus, and love to hear about members experiences, problem solving, and just chating about our hobby. Enjoy! All may not agree with one another all the time, but keep us up to date on your adventure. Paul
  14. Never grow up! The younger you stay, the more circles you can take while drifting your baby.
  15. As Denny said earlier, the battery almost has to be constantly drained by something. This is amazingly simple to happen. A few years back, I pulled in the garage one evening, and didn't realize I had left the dome light on. When I went out in the morning, the battery was dead as a door nail. It took me a few minutes to notice the dome light, which by now was almost to weak to see. It was the dealer that explained the situation and I haven't made that mistake again. A thorough inspection of the charging system is needed. If there is a short in the system it should be pretty apparent. Please come back people and let us know what you find. Paul
  16. I did not know that ! Thanks for the great information. Paul
  17. A what????.....8 Track?? I'm sorry, but I don't know what that is. LOL If I could go back to that era, I wouldn't!!
  18. Hi Tabatha and welcome. Are you driving the car or is the engine running as the battery loses it's charge? Or does the battery discharge while the car is just sitting in the driveway? With the first, the alternator or other parts of the charging system could be bad. If this had happened only one time, and replacing the battery fixed the problem, obviously the battery was bad. But since you put in a new battery and it still has the problem the new battery is fine. Having said all that, this is the type of problem you would expect if someone had left the dome light on or the radio is drawing power all the time even though it appears to be off. I would take the car to your Lexus dealer or a shop that works on Lexus. They will need to trace the path of the battery charge system for any problems. Paul
  19. Hi Les and welcome to the club! This question comes up about every Leap year, and each time it does, it feels like some village is missing an idiot. Meaning I can never remember the answer. The primary reason it's difficult to change your user-name and password is to block SPAM systems from getting past the first attempt but with no way to generate a new user-name. No matter how often it happens, I never cease to be amazed when I get up in the morning and find every Forum and topic pasted with SPAM for Hindu s*x Fun.!! For the same reason, new members must post a total of 10 times before they can make changes. If you feel comfortable, send your request to me and I'll see if I can make the change for you. My email pj8708@aol.com Thanks Les. Paul
  20. Hi JohnH, That's an odd one. I haven't heard of this problem before. The first thing that comes to mind is pretty simple. You've noticed that at night, the screen converts to a black background with dimmed letters and graphics. To the left of the steering column should be two buttons and a dial. These control the brightness of both the instrument panel and nav screen. This is just a "maybe" situation. Next, I would suggest going back to the screen adjustment part of your owners manual and see if resetting some of your selections will help. Others will jump in here and offer some ideas. Paul
  21. Hi Joe and welcome. Since about 2006 there has been a lot of interest in using the navigation screen for DVD's. To my knowledge Lexus has never adapted the nav for DVD use. Some owners of late model Lexus have made a work-around that makes the system work. I think you might find some help doing a search of our data base. Paul
  22. Your so right. Years ago, I took a big breath and resigned myself to the fact that I would never come out ahead when buying a car. Some of you may have seen the commercial for car insurance, with customers complaining about getting riped off by their insurance companies when making a claim. One customer complains saying, "How can my car depreciate before it's first oil change?" We all know that when buying a luxury car you are not only buying the sheet metal, but the prestige that comes with luxury products. However, if your buying your car only for prestige you will always pay more because you won't be able to say no to yourself and will probably say "Yes" when if you had negotiated a little more you might have saved $250 - $500. Paul
