  1. Hi David and welcome, The ML system probably gets more mail than any other car part. Many people say the bass is great-just right. Other say the bass is too weak and how can that be changed. Remember that the ML has 18 speakers, a multi channel amp and a complete cross over system for every speaker and amp. During the 2010,2011, and 2012, The ML package had a reputation for failed amplifiers. Since that time Lexus must have come up with a fix because I haven't heard of any complaints. I have placed a small sub-woofer in the trunk and it has made a huge difference. PAUL
  2. Jim makes some sense out of this problem. If you have the dealer put in a new window,, do NOT let them back you into a corner saying in essence, "See, we replaced it and it didn't make any difference. There for your on the hook for the replacement glass." HOLD IT!! The dealer couldn't fix it, the OEM replacement did not solve the problem, so how can you possibly put the outcome back on me?? Lexus parts were the only brand used to try and fix the problem. You didn't buy the parts from anyone else and You didn't do the work. In addition the car is under warranty. The warranty is sold as "bumper to bumper" coverage. Jim's description of the tinted glass makes a lot of sense. I'm a little surprised the dealer didn't come up with it. Many years ago, I had a Buick Park Avenue. I constantly had problems with the front end alignment. The dealer did not see how that could happen unless I was running it over curbs and potholes. In other words, there was nothing wrong with the car. After several weeks of this game of chicken, I was once more at the dealer trying to find away to get the problem resolved with out going to small claims court. As I stood there with the service manager, I decided I'd had enough. I told the service manager that I had enough. I tossed the keys in his hand and walked out. I called a friend to come and get me. I left the car sitting there. I hope your dealer will pull their head out of their posterior and become an advocate for your satisfaction. Paul
  3. Hi James and welcome. I can see what you mean about the scattered light on the rear window. Your right in my opinion, that it this would be unsafe. Questions: Does this problem occur during the day? Does it happen when the sun shines on the window.? Does it occur when it rains? Does it happen when the temperature in the cabin of the car is set on high? Does it happen when it is cloudy? What has the dealer done to try and fix the problem, or do they say there is nothing wrong, it is supposed to work that way. Have you talked to Lexus customer service.directly? To tell the truth, I have never seen this issue before on any Lexus model. It is a true head scratchier. When this happens is the rear window wet or damp to the touch? On both sides. I ask this in the chance that one of the roof drains may be plugged or is letting enough water inside the car to raise the humidity so it condenses. My only suggestion would be to go to Lexus Customer Service and start a file that would include the dealer, general manager, Lexus directly and your states attorney generals office -consumer protection division. In my opinion you are in a position of strength since your warranty is still in effect. Document all facts with photos, copies of dealer work orders/tickets and if you can a copy of your states requirements for windshield clarity. I add this because many states regulate the amount of tint you can put on your windows. I see nothing here that would't come under the same category. Be sure to copy your information to all of the party's mentioned here. Come back and let us know what results you got. Paul Lexus.com - dealer complaints.
  4. Hi and welcome. The year and model of your Lexus needs to be added to your posting. There are many different features, and parts that are not the same from year to year. Hopefully we'll be able to give you some ideas. Paul
  5. Lexus has put up a new video tour of the recently opened Kentucky Lexus plant. And what a plant ! The Kentucky facility makes the Lexus ES 350. and joins other North American Lexus factory's such as those in Canada. The tour covers the various steps in the assembly and fabrication of the ES. You immediately get an impression of the incredible checks and double checks on every part. After you've watched the video, what are your opinions on what you saw and heard. Paul Tell us your opinion! https://lexusenthusiast.com/2016/04/11/a-visit-to-the-lexus-es-manufacturing-plant-in-kentucky/ Subject Model designations-This is a topic James, our new Admin. person from the UK, got me thinking about this subject. When he "Googled" NC, it came up with the meaning of "Nimble Crossover". What the heck does that mean I thought. So I e-mailed Lexus Customer Service and received the following reply. In my opinion, some of these make sense. Such as "Luxury Sedan". But I would really appreciate someone explaining to me what a "Nimble Crossover" defines. Does it mean that other crossovers stumble and trip a lot? Discussion Thread Response Via Email (David Rosen) 03/19/2016 11:45 AM Dear Mr. Jackson: Thank you for contacting Lexus Customer Satisfaction. We are glad to hear that so many people love the Lexus brand. Below is the meaning for the vehicles we have officially named: ES- Executive Sedan GS- Grand Sedan LS- Luxury Sedan Additionally, these are the most common interpretations of our other models. However, they have not officially been named: RC- Radical Coupe CT- Creative Touring IS- Intelligent Sport NX- Nimble Crossover RX- Radiant Crossover GX- Grand Crossover LX- Luxury Crossover If you require further assistance, please respond to this email, or contact Lexus Customer Satisfaction at 1-800-255-3987, Monday through Friday, 5:00 am to 6:00 pm, or Saturday, 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, Pacific Time. 6. Hi Johnathan and welcome. You ask a good question. With so many company's selling every part under the sun, it is difficult to learn what parts are good as OEM> My guess is that you'll find Lexus OEM parts are consistently higher than any other source. I imagine someone else will chime in here and may be able to be more specific on brands and specification. Paul
  7. Hi Steve and welcome to the Club. I feel your pain. A dealer not ordering a new car is like not getting a pay check. In November of 2013, I ordered a new ES 350. Because I wanted to have the interior done in leather not the synthetic. The dealer placed the order the first of the month after checkig with other dealers and the Lexus port of entry where Lexus has a facility to install some accessories. There was nothing available. The order could only be fulfilled by ordering from Japan. By some stroke of luck, the car came in just after Christmas. A dealer when placing your order does so with their money until you pay them. In the case of the RX it has been the most popular of all Lexus models. The ES is almost as popular.I can't speak for the dealer but they wouldn't be the only dealer that is behind on their account with Lexus. I agree that 10-12 weeks is crazy. At this point there probably isn't much you can change. The Lexus cars are the best I've ever owned. It is also rated as the most reliable brand on the market. I hope after having your new ES, you'll be glad you made the decision. Paul
  8. Today, JD Power along with Consumer Reports has named Lexus the most reliable brand over all other makes. This isn't the first time Lexus has been awarded this honor. What I find most interesting is the problems most reported by owners for most brands was the reports of electronics and and communications features not mechanical problems.. We all know that in the past reliability would be mostly mechanical in nature. Things such as a water pump, engine components and other things involving things that could be fixed using a wrench and socket set. 9. Whooo....,I'm an executive (who's probability!! on the chopping block for downsizing.)??
  10. Really good article. A lot of promise. I just need to get those images of the "Hindenburg" explosion. LOL
  11. Hi Marcus, I apologize for no one getting back to you and I want you to know that's not the way we work. I have a suspicion that one of the problems might be the specificity and rareness of your request. There may not be to many members who have your answer off the top of their heads. I am putting your request to two of our tech gurus. I hope they can help you out. Paul
  12. Hi Glenn, I did get a response from Lexus and I posted it in the "General Chat" forum. Some of the names are way out there. Paul

  14. Well...........I'm sure we could work with that, but just to get a reality check, I sent an email to Lexus Corp customer service explaining our questions and asking for a list of each models designation and what they mean. Any bets on whether I get a response?? Paul
  15. OK,.....As I'm thinking about the correct answer, I started thinking about some of the other Lexus designations. For example, I know that the "S" in LS,ES means sedan. That's not to hard to find in the Lexus website. But, what the heck does "NX" stand for? Paul
  16. Hi, In 2013, We purchased a new RX 350. The MSRP on the window was $50,000. It was equipped much like what your looking at. Some members say a 10% drop in the MSRP is a good deal. I think you would be more ahead by purchasing a new 2016 with a full 4 year warranty. Also, a one model year car with 19,000 miles is high for one year of driving Also, remember the RX model has been Lexus best selling model since it came out well over 10 years ago. So it's pretty hard to wrestle the dealer down much since they sell the RX like popcorn at the movies. Enjoy your new ride. We love our RX. Paul PS: If you have any questions ask Jim up above this thread. He's not very handsome but he knows about 100% more than I do......LOL.
  17. Great article on this topic. There are so many possibilities for the future, but the ability of the stake holders are almost always ending in time ill spent. The friction between the profit side (producers), the arguments on the environmental balance, and the fight in Congress over how much will their state get out of it and how heavily the industry will spend to influence all the "whats in it for me ?" people. Paul
  18. Here are some photos of the 2017(?) RX 350L as seen in Europe. The interesting take away from this posting is the news that Lexus has applied for a patent on the new model. The "L" at the end of a model designation usually means a longer wheel base, such as on the "L" at the end of the LS model. This article suggest an additional third row of seating in the RX . The new camouflaged RX 350L is supposedly 4.8" inches longer.. What features do you think will be added to the crossover? If Lexus is adding to the size of the model, will it still be able to be called a Crossover or will it be re classed as an "SUV".? Come on!! We members want to know what your opinion is. Paul https://lexusenthusiast.com/2016/03/13/lexus-rx-350l-trademark-registered-in-europe/
  19. I agree with you James. When you think about it, You probably couldn't find a better and more plentiful fuel. Since 2/3 rds of the earth is covered with the stuff, it could be extracted from the oceans, and replenished with rain water. What I can't figure out is how would they transport the hydrogen to a refuel station, and keep the car and the nozzle spark proof? Paul
  20. Good day James! I agree. To me, this appears to be a major step forward for those who have been vocal over these last few years about expanding the brand into a broader line of quiet and smooth ride to sports car configuration that would let our sports configurations "thumb their nose's " as they blow by a BMW'.LOL Paul
  21. This New York Times report sheds light on the failure of the EPA to deliver the so called MPG standards and, the continued auto makers production of gas hungry large vehicles. Recently there has been an active back and forth about the poor RX 350h mpg compared to what Lexus has advertised. This is an excellent article that expose's much of the US car mpg "wink and a nod:" relationship with the regulator's and makers. After you read this, post your opinion and let others know what you think. Paul http://www.nytimes.com/2016/03/10/opinion/stalling-on-fuel-efficiency.html?emc=edit_ty_20160310&nl=opinion&nlid=5513210
  22. Hi Craig!

I hope this finds you well and enjoying some of the spring like weather.

Craig I just wanted to take a minute of your time to tell you what a great job your doing as a moderator. Almost every time I log on you've welcomed someone to the Club or helped someone fix a problem or helping them find a source that might help.

    Again, thanks Craig

  23. Hi James and welcome to this side of the pond! I am excited about having your help and in particular, help with the more technical problems. I would say that more than half of our "trouble" postings are for 2002 and earlier models. Our other area is just keeping chatter going in the chat room. I post new model information as it comes out from Lexus. Do you know if Steve is going to put out an introduction about your joining the team? Thank you James and thanks for your help. Paul
  24. This is a video of the new transmission coming out in 2017 for the LC 500h. Sounds very promising..... Video: Explaining the New Lexus LC 500h Hybrid Transmission
