  1. I have nothing against your new IS. Personally I think I just need more time to adjust to it. Back when the LS460 came out in 2007, I really thought that Lexus went downhill on the LS's design, but now I have an LS460 in my garage. It took some time for me to accept the LS460. Once I probably start seeing the new spindle grill more, it'll grow on me. ;)
  2. That's what I wanted to believe also, but having a brand new IS250 loaner for 4 days, driving 1300 miles on it (don't ask, even I don't know how I accumulated 1300 miles in 4 days lol) and every time I parked it, I tried looking at that big spindle grill at every possible angle and still can't accept it... hopefully just for now. Honestly as much I dislike having a front license plate on my car, I probably would put a front license plate (or "L" logo plate) if I were to purchase a new Lexus now with the spindle grill or I would get a black vehicle (which I don't prefer because of swirl marks, easily shows dirt, and very hot in the Central Valley summer heat).
  3. What baffles me is the fact that these tragic accidents happened from, supposedly, "race car" drivers driving those vehicles. I believe Rodas was a Race car driver. Unless the brakes suddenly did not want to work or anything, I'm sure he could have figured a way to safely stop the vehicle if he lost control. Same thing with the ES350 in San Diego that caused the big commotion about the faulty gas pedals, floor mats, etc on almost all Toyota and certain Lexus vehicles. Personally I experienced a minor incident where I could have died in a car accident. When I was younger, I was looking for a used vehicle to be my beater commuter car to drive to school. I test drove a used Rav4, the first generation one. At one point I realized that the gas pedal had a problem, and the accelerator was stuck! I had my foot fully depressed on the brake pedal and still didn't want to slow down! Instead, pushing on the brakes only maintained the speed. I had to use the hand brake to slow the vehicle down. When you are in a panic mode, it was hard for me to think about just putting the car in neutral on a busy street with no shoulder to veer off onto. But in reality, I knew that putting it in neutral would help me a lot. Not when you're in panic mode though. Anyways I managed to use the hand brake to slow down, and pull up into a parking lot with the hand brake pulled up all the way, turned off the ignition and then I put the car in park. I had this discussion with my friend before. Not to say I'm bragging, but I do have a small 6th sense when it comes to driving, and how to keep myself safe in case of emergency. He told me that if someone else was driving that Rav4, that the first thing a typical person would do is find a car to crash into, or maybe a bush.
  4. I'm going to be honest, I still need some time to adjust to this new grille styling. I told myself the same thing back around 07ish when the "L-Finesse" styling was done but it didn't take long for me to adjust to that. Who knows, it may just be a matter of time and I'll be adjusted to the new grille styling.
  5. Unidirectional tires are not necessary for the LS460 since it is not a high performance sports car like a BMW. I bought a set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S from my Lexus dealer. Their prices were pretty competitive versus Costco.
  6. Well I actually have two different problems, after looking back to this thread. I still am experiencing the lazy door syndrome, but I also noticed that the door jamb sensor switch may be faulty too. How I noticed is because when I open the driver's door and press the memory seat, none of the lights turn on and the memory seat doesn't function... until a few seconds later the cabin lights turn on and the seats now react when I press the memory seat at this point. Both of my rear doors have the lazy door syndrome, and right now it's hard to show the dealer my door jamb sensor issue because it only happens intermittently.
  7. To each it's own. I personally love the ride of my LS460 as it is ! I have not driven an LS460 with the air suspension to compare, but I definitely appreciate the ride difference between my LS versus the 535i (which isn't even a sport model!) which definitely lets you feel every single little bump on the road.
  8. I feel your pain. My local Lexus dealer's service department is declining in quality lately. Not mentioning names or dealers, but I am not satisfied with their service and to think we have been loyal to them since the year 2000, now having 3 Lexus vehicles in our garage. The latest issue was with my brakes. Not going to mention much here just in case there are spies lurking the forum, but the issue was brought up to Lexus USA, and the issue was not resolved. Instead, a previous Lexus manager who works for a different car company now, took my vehicle in at no charge, fixed a couple things that weren't done correctly by my Lexus dealership, and the problem went away! All at no charge! All he requests is that I bring my services in to his dealer but they will still pick up a genuine Lexus oil, filter, etc.... Also his labor rates are lower than the regular rates that they're charging their customer who walk in! Sadly, it's the people who run the show that make the difference in the satisfaction of the customer.

  10. http://www.autoblog.com/2014/01/28/production-lexus-nx-leaked-jim-lentz-presentation/?ncid=txtlnkusaolp00000588 Any inputs guys? Looks like Lexus is just mixing and matching their current models to come up with a new line-up of models.
  11. Updated. Not much to add to this since the vehicle can't really be modified that much without ruining the original look. Decided to tint my whole windshield and has been my handy companion in my cycling adventures
