Haven't driven an M yet. We haven't been a big fan of Infiniti at all. I've only like the OEM sound of their exhaust and thats pretty much it. It's hard to really compare apples to apples because every manufacturer is different and not every manufacturer has a specific model to compete with every model of its competition.. Back in the day I remember the RX300, X5, and ML320 were supposedly the real comparison but look at where those 3 vehicles are at now. Sure I would agree that the G37 can closely compare to the 3 series. I've driven a 3 series before and they're pretty decent in power but then again you have to consider which 3 series are we talking about. I only compared this to the 5 because aside from the fact that there's a 5 in my garage but I thought maybe the size of the G37 is close enough to the size of the 5. The 3 is really small no doubt about that. Infiniti also claims that the M is their competitor for the LS, 7 series, and S-class.... Now would you really think that's comparing apples to apples?

It's a long story about how I ended up with an Infiniti rental today (it was not thru a rental company like Hertz or Avis) but I was surprised with the way it drove. I must have had low expectations for this company but they are truly sporty cars! The power is no doubt there as I think the G37 outpowers the 535i (IMO). The interior quality, design, and materials used aren't too "luxurious" but I'm impressed with the power. It handles and hugs the curves pretty well but I think BMW can hug the curves at a much higher speed than Infiniti. The G37 I drove today only had 400 miles on the clock so technically this unit hasn't really been broken in yet. I wonder what kind of power it will give you once it's broken in. The setup of the controls were confusing at first. I thought the iDrive system was bad but this was almost similar to the iDrive (I prefer touch screen where I can go directly to the option I want). Gauges (particularly the odo area) reminded me of a Nissan for some reason but otherwise the color of the gauges and buttons are better than the red gauges in the 528i. The only part I strongly disliked was the setup of my bluetooth phone. I went through all the settings menus on the screen and it turns out that I had to press the button on the steering wheel to open up the bluetooth menu. THEN I had to setup my bluetooth by talking to the car! I thought this was a big hassle as you had to wait for the system to give you the pairing code, then you have to "name" your phone by saying a name for it. What normally takes 30 seconds to setup your phone in a Lexus probably took me around 2-3 minutes to setup in the Infiniti. Otherwise it was a pretty good experience. I won't mind trying out an Infiniti someday when I'm ready to change the RX300 lol.

Denslex, try to get the part number for the front emblem for the silversport and look it up on parts.com. They'll have the same OEM part for a lot cheaper! I don't believe there is a part number for it. I was told (which could be the wrong info) by the parts person was that they order a regular chrome emblem and that chrome emblem is sent out to a shop (All this must be Lexus certified I'm presuming) who does the black pearl for these emblems (hence black pearl looks different from those who paint or powder coat their emblems.) I may just save up $120 for that one emblem to keep the same original look without the small peeling of the front emblem. Thanks, Denny. This may be the year I finally trade it in - I'm liking the rumored 2013 RX450h F-Sport. I have't had any issues with my emblems (knock on wood). I had to replace a leaking sunroof at around 110,000 miles and a air mix servo (which is acting up again after only 1-1/2 years :( ). But that's it as far as things breaking. It's a solid car that's served me well for 10-1/2 years. And it does look great too! Knock on wood I haven't had any leaky sunroof! lol. I wish I had the budget for a 13 RX450 F-sport but I probably would have to sell at least 2 or 3 cars to buy or lease an RX f-sport. Currently I don't have any plans to sell my Silversport. But who knows what the future may hold ;)

Ok I finally got around to changing the battery in the RX. I swapped out the battery from the 4Runner since I'm selling the 4Runner. The flickering has greatly IMPROVED... But I did notice that there is still a very very minor flickering when the engine is turned on. I also noticed that the flickering happens more when you rev the engine in idle. Could it be a defective alternator?

Been a year since I've posted regarding my RX. mrhoads your silversport still looks great too! Sets us apart from other RX300s on the road with the one tone paint and the honeycomb grill. Not a big fan of the aluminum interior trim instead of wood grain but I can adjust. Only thing that I didn't like about the Silversport is the black pearl emblems. Such a pain to avoid scratching. My front one is starting to peel and I've inquired with my dealer about how much a new replacement is. $120 for a black emblem versus $40 for a regular chrome emblem. :chairshot:

Lexus dealer should have those available or they can order them if they aren't stocked. I believe they run about $2/piece roughly depending on which clip you need. -
Who does a 5 layer wax/detail on a car? Oh wait.... ME.. ughhh I think I'm still high from all those chemicals I used.... @_@ .. 7.5hrs of detailing so far, and COUNTING.... :-/

Ughhhh damn customer! First he gives me a 6 minute lecture about low flow showerheads and faucets, then I ask if he had any questions (which was a BIG MISTAKE LOL) and he literally took 1 full minute saying "ummmmm yeaahhhh Iiiiiiiii....." then he wanted me to give his parents number so we could ask them about HIS income. Dude aren't you old and mature enough to know or manage your own income esp that you are living on ur own??!

That's only for the I4 Turbo 328i. The 335 I6 wouldn't have the auto shut off feature and this feature can be turned off. The I4 528i I test drove had that same feature (reminded me of a hybrid) but a simple button can turn that off.
