  1. The 95-97 are much more modern and upgraded. It doesn't seem like a 15 year old car at all. All the little ditails are worked out and the overall quality is a step up. (Hard to imagine anything better, I know!!) The only slightly better thing about the 93-94 is the engine internals are slightly beefier, which really only matters in turbo applications. The post 94 are interferance engines make about 10 mors HP, so a little better N/A performance. So unless you plan on a twin turbo job, buy a '95+. You cannot swap the nak and pioneer systems period. the stock pioneer is better than 80-90% of other cars factory systems so you really dont need to. BTW the pioneer is much more durable than the nak. Spirted driving and the LS are hard to combine. That i know for sure. Good summer tires are about the best thing you really can do. Splitting the stock Y-pipe and making a true dual exhaust will also help. The brakes are ok stock but i put EBC pads in and that helped a bunch. i also have cross drilled and slotted rotors going in tomorrow which should also help. AVOID AIR SUSP. AT ALL COSTS!!!!!
  2. A JL W7 is one of the best subs you can buy!! If you are only putting 300W to it you mights as well be buying a Ferrari and never going past 1/8 thorttle. If your putting it in the stock location get a shallow mount. The travel would nock the grill off in a heart beat. You will also need to make sure the sub you get works free air like Lest4Lexus said. check out the W7 here http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_subs_pages.php?page_id=3 This is what you need to power it AT LEAST!! http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_amps.php?amp_id=476
  3. You could probably part the good parts for around that. Especially if the body is in good shape. Sell a door or two, some glass and a deck lid and you have your $1k back. Interior could be a money maker if its in good shape. BTW what color is it??
  4. YES struts WILL wear out faster with lowering springs. Two years seems a little quick though. are you sure it is your struts making the noise? The Tanabe's lower about 2" right? That is quite a bit for a strut ment to fit in an oem spot.
  5. If you do have balanced tires already, I would think an alignment would do the trick. Check your tires for uneven ware. That is a sign that you need an alignment. Do you drive on rough roads or through pot holes?
  6. If you floor it and the problems go away it would make sense for it to be the alternator because the higher rev's would turn the alternator quicker and therefore charge more!?!? The trunk hinge wires would be somewhat uneffected by the change in throttle. That would be my logic, although I can't say that with any kind of certinty. If I was you, I would just take the 5 or 10 minutes and check the trunk wires just incase though. It can't hurt.
  7. Just be carefull taking the gauge cluster apart. It is simple and fairly straight foward, just unscrew and unclip, but the needles and circut boards are pretty delicate. Check out my thread on my gauge cluster repair. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...mp;hl=capacitor
  8. Iridium all the way!!! Denso or NGK are the best. Or if you have DEEP pockets you could try the pulstar plugs. I have always wanted to see some one drop $25 per plug. LOL
  9. the dash light problem is for all of the first gen. 1990-94. Slapping the top of the dash is only for sticking needles, or when the needles wont move off zero. The backlighting is caused by a couple capacitors as well as the slow movng gas gauge. I opened up the gauge cluster and repaired the capacitors whuch cured the problem.
  10. I just capped my leaky PS valve and have been getting much less smoke on start up. I took it to a shop and had it done for about $200. I don't know if that was a little much or not, but it was leaking all over my engine and driveway so I went ahead and had it done. I got a 98 ES as a free rental for the day so I figured it was worth it.
  11. btw where is the ecm located and how easy is it to swap? I heard its in the right floor area of the passanger capartment is that accurate at all?
  12. You're No. 1 in my book Jcrome :D
  13. Wow maybe I should check out my ecm. I have an intermitant unburnt fuel smell, low idle, and weird smelling smokey exhaust. And guess what! I am right under 200K miles. I have a guy with a parts car that I could probably get an ecm from. Will a '94 ecm work in a '93? The two years are practicly identicle. I doubt if a 90-92 would work.
  14. If you search through the results a little you can find the ones on a lexus. Select lexus for the make and about half way down the page there is an 06 LS430, along with many other LS's. This should help. Personally I have never used these tires but one of the auto instructers at the local community college turned me on to them, and ($$ allowing) they will be my next tires. http://www.tirerack.com/survey/SurveyComme...445WR8RE960PPXL
  15. Michilan primacy mxv4 is always recomended on here, but the Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position tires are a good choice based on your criteria. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?ti...romCompare1=yes
  16. True I didn't realise they were that much different.
  17. check this link out. I don't think they look too bad. around 7:00 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QzMYT22PBeE...D6&index=35
  18. I bet Unique Autosport would charge around $50K or more to redo the seats. LOL that show is awsome. I wish I had a 2010 LS460L to send them.
  19. I know a guy from an auto class at the local community college that has a '67 yenko camaro. Completely restored, beautiful car. He dropped $20K for a show quality paint job. But you get one look at that paint and you are blown away. Yellow with black rally strips. The color is so even and the clear coat just shines. I only got to see it once because he only drove to the class once. That car has to be worth close to $100k though.
  20. they come in the same package as the local lexus dealer and the numbers look like they match. Not to mention they say genuine toyota/lexus on the parts themselves.
