  1. UPDATE. I just checked my car and after a cold start this morning it ran fine right off the bat. I pulled it into my driveway and checked the oil and it looked fine. NO MILKSHAKE. YYAAA!! But the coolant was leaking from the lower front of the engine about where the water pump is. Also there was a rattling noise from the inside of the engine. It was coming from the front half and it didn't sound like a knocking rod so I am thinking it might be the water pump making a noise. Any ideas. BTW I am at 95K miles on this T/B and Water pump. Should I just replace the TB and water pump?... if I can find the money.
  2. 13.7 Hours plus $70 for each gasket. That includes cleaning carbon and making all neccessary adjustments. I simply pulled out the spark plugs and cleaned them off. Then before replaceing them I squirted a tiny bit of seafoam into the cylinders. I have sea foamed my car before and only got positive results. It drove fine before so I don't see how it could have had any previous damage to the head gasket. Thats why I am not sure what happened.
  3. Ya that sounded weird to me as well. I would think she could tune it herself if the ecm didn't correct it for her. I wounder why they put a supra motor in their when the things has the same 2JZ engine in it already?? That sounds kind of dumb to me. It like saying I'm going to upgrade my LS400's motor to one out of an SC400. I just want to see them actually drive that thing. Team Hummer annoys the crap out of me. The short dude needs to shut up. Team lambo is funny though, and no one seems to do anything about them. For goodness sake they stopped at the bunny ranch and didn't even get in the challange. They have to be smarter than they look to pull that off. I wonder how they got all the money for that car?? Did you see the waad of cash they pulled out at the bunny ranch?
  4. OEM pads will give good performanve with low noise and dust. They will be very reliable and long lasting. I have EBC pads which are pure performance pads and stop QUICK! they stop significantly faster than my OE's did, however after about 1K miles they have noticable wear. Not to mention the noise and dust is horrible. My next set will be OEM for sure!
  5. Yeaterday I sea-foamed my car and pulled all the spark plugs an sprayed a little seafoam into the cylinders. Last night on my way home I turned on my heater and got cold air. I was shocked, but since it was raining I didn't look at anything when I got home. Today when I checked on her, she was out of coolant. Nothing in the resivour. So I filled it up and a few hours later I checked the leval again and took it for a spin and let it warm up. It never stopped heating up and got very near the red mark on the temp gauge before I got back home. I checked the coolant and there was none left. Also on the cold start it was idleing kind of rough. I heard a few missfires and it was vibrateing quite a bit. After I drove it a little this behavior quite and the idle returned to normal. I haven't done any real diagnosis yet because it has been raining, but I have always had a slight small tiny coolant leak. Like I would lose about a half inch in the resivour evey 2 months. Nothing like this. Also when I open the hood and rev it the coolant comes in bubbles back into the resivour. It has done that since I can remember and I never thought anything of it untill now. I hope it's not a head gasket... which I think it might be. Any advice would be very helpful. I plan on checking the oil and seaing if it looks like chocolate milkshake and maybe doing a compression test of all cylinders as well as trying to locate the coolant leak. I am thinking of haveing a shop do a pressure test on the coolant system to find the leak, but what do you guys think I should do???
  6. I really want to see whats under the hood of that SC300. Since they work in a garage, I can hope for a twin turbo, but I haven't heard any sort of blow off valve on that thing yet. Besides I still have one episode left on my dvr before I catch up to date.
  7. The 90-92 has only two connectors in back I believe. The 93-94 have three. Also the 93-94 have an electronic odometer not like the analog ones ion the 90-92, that just have electric trip meters. I believe the capacitors that need to be replaced are the same though.
  8. Ya I agree with aqanthorp. If it is the adaptive intelligence than unplug the battery for about 15 minutes and it should reset. That way you can start with a clean slate and it will learn your driving style.
  9. I love this show so much!! Team Lambo are funnny... and mean. They'll have it commin to them when the other teams find out what there up to. That SC is sweet too. I wish they were on LOC. They are definetly better than the team lexus of last season. I can't wait untill they let us know whats under the hood of that beast. A twin turbo 2jz would be SSSOOOO SWEEEEEETT. Next season needs to be an LS all the way.
  10. I believe in 01 Toyota/Lexus were still using a mechanical linkage to the engine from the throttle. I think they changed around '05. That sort of hesitaion is not normal especially if it is accompanied by jerking and stuttering. When was the last time it had a tune up? Do you have some info on the service history? That might be a good place to start.
  11. you might try and replace the seal around the gas cap. I've heard that might cause pressure in the tank when it gets old and worn out. http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/maintenance...lcapgasket.html
  12. The LS does NOT run on four cylinders at any time or speed. Sorry your mechanic is wrong. Unplug the distributor near the coolent filler bolt in the front and center of the engine, turn the car on, and tell me what it sounds like to have an engine running on four cylinders. If I ever get 25MPG I will soil my self. Thats awesome man!! Your LS has to be very well maintaned to be 18 years old and get that kind of mileage. I'm jelous. :cries:
  13. WOW That is quite a reasonable price!! Good Job
  14. UUHHMMMM yah definetly be carefull. I have only seen it done on windshields that were out of the car. I think I forgot to mention that. Just go slow and don't put any swirl or burn marks in there. Buff at a low speed and light pressure untill you get comfertable.
  15. Perhaps you could advise us all as to what kind of car to buy, considering you don't like the most reliable brands on the planet. If you really like transmission problems, I'd advise YOU to buy a GM, Chrysler, or Ford. You deserve one. And over $500 for a trans oil change? You're kidding right? Easy there guys. I don't think anyone is trying to offend anyone else. Toyota has been in hot water lately, and claims of infinatly good tranny fluid are just dumb. You might as well put in $10/quart motor oil and then never change it. Same idea right? Hoenstly, Toyota needed something to get there over inflated heads out of their A$$es. (Same can be said for some Lexus owners as well!!) At least GM and Ford have schedualed matinance for their junky transmissions. Bottom line is all tranny fluid will need changed. The more frequant the better, fresh fluid won't hurt nearly as bad as chocolate syrup. Every 30K is slightly excessive, but if you want to than go for it. 50K is about max comfortably for tranny fluid.
  16. You can definetly buff a windshield. I have seen it done a few times, all you do is get glass buffing compound and a buffer. A few application and you should have those nicks out. Nothing a little elbow grease can't fix.
  17. Hang in there man!! You can do it. I've fixed worse (not jokeing either). check out lexls.com you will probably need it.
